Nell had enjoyed hanging out with Jasper and Jarica for a bit, but she had drifted away from their conversation after a while, someone else on her mind. She had left things on... slightly awkward terms with one of her roommates at the end of the last year, and Nell couldn't stop thinking about her conversation with Selene. There had been... something in the air between them, something Nell couldn't put into words, and even if Nell hadn't already been having trouble getting the pretty girl off her mind that conversation would have cemented her feelings. She... liked Selene, liked her a lot, and she thought she had felt... something from the other girl too. But since coming back to school things had been different, almost as if Selene was avoiding her, and Nell wanted to fix things. If she had misinterpreted their conversation, Nell just wanted to... make things better, so they could go back to being friends like normal. So she sought Selene out at the Halloween feast, unable to help a bright grin as she spotted her. Their costumes almost matched, and it felt like a sign. Nell couldn't stop grinning as she made her way over to Selene, nudging her cheerfully. "I suppose we both wanted to be the knight in shining armour?" She asked cheerfully, trying to be playful and fun to bridge the awkward silence that had grown between them.

ever since before the holidays selenes head had been storming with thoughts and feelings. her talk with nell on the last day of school had added to that. she had hoped that over the break she would have been able to figure her own mind out but unfortunately not. so since coming back to school, she had been trying to avoid her friend. the reason for that was simple. she liked nell. really liked her. but she didn't know if her friend felt the same way. she didn't want to spoil their friendship by saying something or slipping up so she had decided it was best to avoid her. flawed logic as it was.
Selene had got ready for the least in her mum's office as her mum had been helping her prepare her costume. she had then spent some time with Helia she had left her twin on the dancefloor as she went to get them both drinks her armour while charmed to be lighter than it looked was still awkward to dance in. as she was returning she heard someone talking to her. she turned around and saw nell. she couldn't help but smile as she saw her friend there dressed in a Beautiful gown with armour attached. a blush quickly forming on her pale skin, "Wow. Nell. You look amazing" she said. too struck by her friend to think of anything wittier to say she doubted that she would ever look that pretty. "I guess we both did, you look like the princess who got tired of waiting for the prince so decided to look after herself"" she said feeling herself blush again as she did a stray thought of a story coming into her head where the princess was waiting for a prince but when the knight came it was a woman.

Nell hadn't been prepared for the somersault her heart did when Selene complimented her, and she couldn't hold back the nervous giggle that bubbled from her chest, stumbling over her words uncharacteristically. "Oh! It's... thank you! I mean, just a dress and some armour." She laughed nervously, hands fidgeting with the many layers of her skirt. She giggled again at the narrative Selene came up with for their costumes, nodding in agreement. "Totally! And we team up as a duo of knights to save the kingdom from dragons, or something." Nell giggled again, scrambling for something else to say. "Your costume is so cool though, it looks so realistic! Is it heavy?"

Selene looked at nell as she waved off her costume as just a dress with some armour. "It looks so pretty." she said. then she remembered that her sister had encouraged her to talk to nell for a reason. "you look really pretty" she said wishing she would stop blushing. as nell complimented her costume she smiled. she had spent. lot of time working on the armour for her and her sister. "It is lighter than it looks. My mum charmed it to make it lighter. but it is still a bit bulky to dance in." she said.
She noticed that nell was fidgeting with her skirt she looked about as uncomfortable as selene felt. she reached out and took her friend's hand and kissed it like she had read knights doing in stories. "Well Sir Nell from the house of Wright. lets go on an adventure. and chase down and tame some dragons" she said keeping her friends hand in hers. if this was a fairytale twisted on its head it only made sence that the dragons weren't to be slain but to be tamed.

Nell's brain always felt as though it was moving a million miles an hour, always so many things to be thinking about and doing and planning and worrying about, and there was never a moment to simply stop and not think. So it was entirely unusual for her brain to screech to a skidding halt, as it did when Selene called her pretty. Pretty. The word bounced off the walls of her usually full mind, echoing around in all directions, as Nell giggled helplessly. What were you supposed to say when people said things like that?! She couldn't figure it out, but luckily the conversation was moving on and she nodded with interest as Selene told her about the armour, relieved not to have to figure out what she was supposed to say. Should she have returned the compliment? Oh no! Selene was definitely pretty but... now it felt too late to return? Just as Nell was beginning to get her thoughts together again enough to at least try and make words, she felt a touch on her hand, looking down curiously. Selene was... oh. Oh. If Nell's brain hadn't already felt frozen in time, this would have stopped her entirely. She watched, unconscious of her mouth hanging very slightly open as she watched Selene lean down and kiss her hand. If Nell could choose a single moment of her life to freeze in time and experience forever, it would be this one. The giggle that bubbled from her when Selene spoke was unlike any sound Nell had made before, and the strangeness of the noise that had come from her was enough to make her giggle again, coughing to cover her nerves. Oh no. When she had first started realising what her feelings for Selene were, Nell had pictured how smooth she was going to be, how confident. How she was going to say all the right words and do all the right things to win Selene over. But here she was, completely flubbing this. She grinned nervously, hoping her silence and weird noises hadn't put Selene off. "Let's go! Adventure awaits!" Nell managed to choke out, squeezing Selene's hand slightly, her heart racing a mile a minute. In spite of her complete flusteration and bizarre noises, Nell didn't think she would ever be able to wipe this grin off her face.

Selene watched Nell cautiously. this would be the moment of truth. how would Nell respond? it was timed well. if Nell responded badly. or if she had really misjudged her friend she could just pretend that she was playing a part. pretending to be a knight. but if Nell felt anything like she felt for her. well, maybe she could stop hiding from her friend.
She had not really known how Nell would react. she guessed she would have expected her usual energy a thousand words a minute but instead, her friend was still. quiet. she bit her lip. had she misjudged things? was Nell trying to think of a nice way to ask what she was doing? was she a seer having a vision? it almost looked like it. "Nell, are you okay? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..." she started not sure how to finish the sentence. kiss you? the problem was she did, she really did want to kiss her friend. upset you may be a better ending, or maybe surprise you. thankfully she was cut off from finishing it by a noise coming out of her friends mouth. what was it a cough or a laugh or something else "Nell are you okay?" she asked again. "Did you want a drink? she said picking up one of the glasses she had been carrying of the small table she had placed them on and offering it to Nell. she knew Helia wouldn't mind if she gave it to Nell. actually her twin would mind if she didn't give it to Nell. Thankfully whatever it was Nell seemed to be back to herself. she felt her squeeze her hand as she spoke. she squeezed back. "lets go have an adventure" she said. ready for Nell to lead them away so somewhere where they would have a fun time. she didn't mind where. any time with Nell would be fun.
