Margarette walked to the Lakefront so she could relax. She sat at the grass near the Lake. She was hoping her best friends from the Philippines were also wizards so they can comfort her. Margarette was missing her parents and friends. She was excited to learn magic, but she was sad because she would leave her parents and friends. Suddenly a tear dropped from her eyes because of sadness. "I hope somebody will come so I have someone to talk to." she said softly. And she waited for someone to come.

James needed to get out of the common room, it was dark and gloomy which he usually liked but he was feeling off today and wanted to get outside. So he ventured down to the lake, he had heard some older Slytherins talking about how it was a good place to go and get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of the school so he thought 'what the hell'. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining the surface of the lake was gleaming, making it a good day for a walk. James walked along the lake with his hads in his pockets, he was wearing most school trousters and white shirt with his green tie hung open around his neck, he had left his robe in his dorm. He looked at the students that were at the lake, they were all at least paired up and he saw one girl alone, even though it went against his entire personality he found himself walking over to her, "Hi there," he said as friendly as he possibly could.

Margarette saw a boy about her age approach her and said hi. She wiped out her tears and stood up. "Hello. I'm Margarette Lipayon. I'm a Ravenclaw." she said feeling a little happy that now she has someone to talk to. But she still wishes to see her best friends. "Would you like to have a seat. Don't worry it's not wet." she said and waited for the boy's reply.

James looked on at the girl as she wiped her tears, he wished he hadn't noticed her tears because now he felt obligated to seek out what was wrong and comfort her. "Hi, I'm James, James Woodlock. Slytherin," He said hoping she wouldn't have a problem with is house as many others had done already today. He took a seat next to her, "Is everything OK?" James asked, "I couldn't help but notice ou wipe away tears," He added.

Margarette watched as the boy introduce himself. She heard that the boy was a Slytherin but she didn't care. "So is Slytherin a nice house for you?" she asked but she suddenly heard a question from the boy. "Yeah, everything's ok. I just miss my family and friends." she replied. And she waited for the boy's reply to her question a while ago.

"What house I'm in doesn't realy make a difference to me," He replied as she began to tell him the reason she was crying. She missed her family, he could relate to that as he missed he Mother too. "Yeah I know the feeling, is your family maggical?" He asked hoping she would get the wrong idea by him asking that.

She watched as the boy explained to her about his house and him. She listened to the boy for she knew that the boy can understand her unlike other Slytherins that will just leave her alone. "No, they're both muggles." she replied to his question. "Did you want to be a wizard, James?" she asked, the question just came to her mind out of nowhere and she waited for the boy's reply.

James hesitated to answer the question, to be honest he never gave much thought to whether or not he wanted to be a wizard, it just happened to him and he had no choice in the matter. "I don't know, I'm just here because I have to be," He said. James had been unsure about the magical world and whether or not he wanted to be a part of it since his Dad died. Margarette's parents were Muggles, James swore he wouldn't hold it against her because she was nice, kind and beautiful but he had an unneccesary dislike of muggles since the death of his father.

Margarette watched as James answered the question and she said, "If you ask me, I never asked for being a witch. But just like you, I'm here because I have to be.". Margarette looked at James and she noticed that when she said that her parents were Muggles he looked troubled. "Is everything ok?" she asked and wondered what was wrong.

James looked up, his behaviour had given something away, he always tried to avoid this. "Err, everything fine, I just had a bad flashback," He said hoping she would force him to bring up his dead father. He had already mentioned his father to one too many people at this school, it was not something that he wanted to dwell on when he met new people. "Don't worry about it," He said.

"You know. It's better to release hard feelings on others. It makes you feel better and better." she said and hoped that James would tell her what was the flashback all about.

James sighed and gave in, "Ok, I have this thing with muggles. The thing is my Dad died years ago saving a muggle from a dark wizard and I blame the muggle for his death but since I don't know who that muggle is I've sort of projected that blame to muggles in general. I'm sorry if you take offense at that I really am, I just can't help it," He said. James dare not look up at her fearing her reaction.

"I'm sorry for what happened to your dad. You know you should be proud of him, because even if the muggle is not like him he still attempted to save him. In fact, I understand you." she said. He looked to James and continued, "Even if I haven't felt it, from the story you told me, I now know how hard it is to lose a father.". She gave James a hug. After giving him a hug she looked down quite blushing hoping she hadn't freaked him out.

James was relieved that she didn't use this as an excuse to turn on him. He smiled as she told him that she understood his situation and nodded, he was proud of father, he was very proud of him. James was suddenly taken back when she hugged him, she then let go and looked down at the floor and blushed. James smiled, "That was, err unexpected," He said not really knowing how to react to what just happened.

Margarette saw that James was relieved from what she said, "Finally, I saw you smile." she looked at James but still blushing. "Uhm. Maybe. I didn't expect that either." she said and waited for what James would say.

James smiled again, "No, it was err nice," he said his smile fading as he began to feel more arkward in the current situation. "You know in hi I just met you lets hug kinda way," he added. He paused, what he said made absoloutely no sense and he felt stupid for saying it.

Margarette smiled back at James. "Thanks for the compliment." she said. Margarette listened to James but she understood him. She knew was James was feeling. They just met but they were already hugging each other. She stopped for a while to think of a topic. She hoped James has an idea of what to talk about.

James sighed thinking of something to talk about, "So what do you think of hogwarts so far?" He asked, it may sound simple but it was thefrst thing he could think of and right now he was desperate for a conversation starter.

"It's a little scary." she replied to James' question. "But," she continued, "with my friends around I don't feel any fear anymore.". Margarette looked at James, "How about you?" she asked and waited for James to answer.

James shrugged his shoulders, "I don't now, I have mixed opinions," he began. He wasn't really enjoying his time at Hogwarts but he was't afraid of the school it as just that he hadn't socialised much with his fellow students so he didn't really enjoy himself.

Margarette looked at the view of the lake. "James, if you're a Slytherin, then why are you kind to me instead of just getting mad at me?" she asked James quite wondering what would James answer be.

James also looked out at the lake as he listened to Margarette's question, "Because unlike the other idiots in my house I don't let my house influence the way I treat others, I'm kind to everyone who is worthy of being treated as such," he said and smiled.

Margarette smiled because of James' answer. "So, you mean I am worthy of your kindness?" she asked. "I think you are more worthy to have my kindness, because you made me smile in the first place." she said to James quite smiling at him and she waited for what James would say.

James smiled, "Of course you are, you managed to make me smile which is something many others have tried and failed to do in the past and your kind and beautiful so why not," He said smiling and waited nervously for her response.

Margarette was glad about James had said. "Thank you. You know, I have a hard feeling that you look like your father. Do you have a picture of him or something?" she asked and hoped to see James' father.
