Kate walked out of her dorm room and down to the Great Hall. She was much happier these days though she still couldn't sleep and was still getting sick, she wasn't too bad.She wasn't worrying as much theses days which helped with her adrenaline problem. She still had the odd one or two panic attacks but she wasn't worrying half as much these days. The only thing that was bothering her was the fact she was getting sick all the time so she had lost a load of weight plus she couldn't sleep.they were the only two symptoms of Phaeochromocytoma that really annoyed her. They were the most problematic and also the most damaging to her health. In her eyes anyways and probably in other peoples as well.Sighing she sat down at the Hufflepuff table and looked at the food that probably wouldn't stay there for long.None the less she had to do it so she might absorb some nutrients.

When she had eaten a small breakfast she made her way outside. It was a nice day but there was a nasty breeze. She was glad she had a warm cardigan on.She walked around and breathed in some fresh air.The head aches weren't to bad these days. She was always on painkillers these days. They helped a lot but she didn't like taking too much because she was afraid it would maker he even more sick.Sighing she made her way into the Hogwarts Gardens. She hadn't been here for a while. She sat down on a near by bench rested

Shiloh yawned as she headed towards the library after breakfast. She had gotten up alittle earlier today and had beaten the usual crowd to breakfast, which these days was how she liked it. She could definately see why Grace had been so adament about being the first to breakfast all the time. It made sense really, it made it easier to do things without a crowd of people hanging around you. Though she had to admitt it was slittle lonely. And Grace was the lonely sort of person. After all her parents had gotten a nanny to raise her whilst they raised her brother. An aspect Grace found irritating. Though she would never tell any one. Shiloh wouldn't be surprised if she soon confronted her parents because as things were going, that was what was going to happen. Though as she got to the Library her thorughts became more intoned to finding a music book. She wasn't sure if they would even have music books in a magical library but there was no harm in looking right?

However as Shiloh looked trhough the many rows and shelved books, she was unable to find the book she was looking for. Though this greatly upset her she was not overly surprised. This school was so unlike her usual muggle schools that she did usually try to compare them. This was one box she had to leave unchecked. Not that she minded all that much. She did so love magic, especially the cool magic that the seniors got to use. It was something she really enjoyed, though the downside was that she was unable to see her sister for like most of the year while she studied. But lately she hadn't been so bad. Sure she still missed them, but it wasn't as bad as it used to be. Besides, she had made alot of friends here that she was able to use a a sort fo replacement, though she would never call them that. They were very dear to her and she loved them all the same. Ofcourse some she was closer to than others.

As Shiloh was still unable to find an appropriate book, Shiloh decided that she would go and do something fun. Something that required her to be outside for a short period of time. She had been inside for so long that she was convinced her skin was starting to go all pasty. That would be simply horrible. So she made up her mind to go somewhere, like the garden for example. Besides, she had her guitar with her and she hadn't played it for a while, she figured now migt be a good time. She had been so busy with her composing that she had forgotten about all the other instruments she played. Even though guitar was always the last one she refered to she figured it deserved abit of down time. Besides, she was dying to try out a new song she had learnt. Well it wasn't a song so much as a tune, but the thought behind it was the same.

As she walked down she could see a girl, about her age, sitting on the bence closest to the Garden wall. Getting a closer look Shiloh smiled at the person she saw. Kate Moon. A Ravenclaw girl she had not seen in a very long time. She couldn't believe her luck at actually meeting up with her friends again. It was amazing. Some-one obviously wanted them to meet again. "Kate, Kate Moon, hey." She called as she jogged over to her. She smiled as she sat next to her. "Oh Merlin, it is wonderful to see you again, I've missed seeing you." She added.

Kate was thinking about life.mostly about her future which was what she thought about a lot these days. There was always a lot going on in her mind and then through it all there was a thumping noise which sometime drowned everything else out.It was both painful and annoying and didn't help her dwindling patience .She also had a song going through her head.Ever since she had gotten sick she had got closer to her music. She sang everywhere and in class sh sung under her breath. She was also practicing her violin a lot more though sometimes her head aches were so bad that any sound of noise would just push her over the edge. She had brought her violin with her but she was too tired to play it these days. Her eyes were all droopy and all she wanted to do was fall asleep but for some reason her body wouldn't let her.Either her brain was ignoring her body or her body was ignoring her brain ,either way she still couldn't get to sleep,so she was screwed either way.She really was confused about her life at the moment. One minute she was grand and then another time she was just pure depressed.Right now she was having one of those moments when she just wished someone could make thing better.

Things were better then what they used to be,she didn't have to worry about Stefan being missing but now a few more worries had taken it's place. Her life was a never ending place of worry and for a person like her who''s worst enemy was worry at the moment because it was her stress out which made her more prone to panic attacks. She looked up when she heard her name being called. She looked at the girl coming towards her.She knew her,but she hadn't seen her in ages. Shiloh Denton. She couldn't remember the last time she had seen this girl.Kate nodded her head "Same,I haven't seen you in ages"She said. She hoped Shiloh didn't notice how under weight she was or how tired she looked because she didn't want to see the look that came on some people's faces when they saw her.It was a horrible look and one she didn't want to see on a friend

Shiloh smiled at her friend, though she frowned slightly after having a long enough period of time to be able to observe her friend and realise just what was wrong with the way she looked. She hadn't seen Kate in a long time, but she was sure that she hadn't looked like this the last time she had seen her. She was pale, skinny, tired looking. Shiloh was really worried. Was it maybe just stress? Or something more. "Hey, Kate, are you okay?" She asked. Trying to be as sensitive as possible. She wasn't sure what was going on, but she didn't want to alienate the girl either. She woud be as forward as was needed, without being too bold. Shiloh had to admitt that she too was feeling alittle under the weather, so maybe it was a bug that was going around. She had seen a few kids looking alittle ill and it was the flu, but with Kate, it was something different. She coud feel it.

x- I apologise that it is so small. Im really busy and my muse is gone. If you don't want to reply, let me know and i will write more.

Kate noticed Shiloh looking at her and she knew she had noticed how sick she looked. It wasn't that hard really, someone from far away could see that she wasn't well and that was just something she had had to get used to.Shiloh had grow up a lot since she had last seen her and Kate guessed she had too. They all looked much more grown up,she would be fifteen soon. She wasn't sure whether she was happy or sad that time was going by so fast.the last four years seemed to have gone by in a flash and she was really starting to realize how close she was to leaving this school and being out in the big bad world by herself. In some ways it was a scary thought and in other ways it was exciting .Kate smiled when Shiloh asked if she was okay "Well,to be honest I've been better"She said sighing afterwards.Kate didn't really like telling people about her "condition". If Shiloh wanted to know she would tell her but she wasn't going to tell her be herself.Nobody had ever heard of what she had before and neither had Kate either. It was a genetic one and Kate cursed at her ancestors who had gotten first and ever since it had been skipping generations, the last person to have it was Kate's great, great, great grandmother and it had never been hear dof before so she had died as had all the other people in her family who had gotten it but since there were people who could do it these days Kate was going to live.Shiloh wasn't looking the best either "How are you feeling?"She asked, concerned, maybe she just had the flu but even the flu could be really nasty at times.

Don't worry it's grand,I was a bit busy too but it's mid term now so I 'm free

x-Thanks appreciate it

Shiloh watched her friend. It was true that she did look rather sick, but what was she going to be able to do about it? She wasn't a doctor. Sure she knew one, but they were a muggle, and would probably be of no help to Kate at all. She sighed. She hoped Kate was okay, it would be such a tragedy if she was seriously ill. She could remember the first time she met Kate, it had been a nice day, in the Gardens with Grace. The two of them had been playing their violins and Kate had complimented their playing. Or was it at the party? Now that she thought about it, she felt like she had known Kate for years, she just had that sort of presonality. The personality of some-one who was very friendly and appreciated life, like it was meant to be appreciated. Not just live and do things halfcocked, it was like Kate was living for her life. It was kinda weird actually. She shrugged and pulled her guitar closer to her body, it made her feel safe, or atleast free, when she held to something dear to her. She had gotten into the habit of doing this everytime she missed her family. Now it was more of a safety mechanism than anything else, but it worked. It made her feel safe.

After Kate answered her question, Shiloh could feel that something was wrong. She was wondering if she should ask her about it or not. It wasn't really any of her business. Even though Kate was a dear friend, or atleast had been when they had been together a few years ago, but still, it was rude to ask, but she was really wanted to know. She sighed, she was just going to have to throw caution to the wind and ask. "Kate, I know this is really none of my business, and know that you don't have to tell me, but, are you really okay? I mean, you say you've been better and right now you do sort of look okay, but..." Shiloh was unsure of how to proceed. Should she just come right out and say what was on her mind? Or should she just let it hang there. She didn't know.
Man what would Grace do? She wondered as she drumed her fingers along the guitar. Well, for starters Grace wouldn't just pussyfoot around the question. She would be concerned. She would ask about what she had been doing, about how she had been looking after herslf, that way Kate would be able to reveal as much as she wanted without revealing what she didn't want to. Then she would offer to make her something and maybe play her a tune. Well, the food is out of the question, because I'm a bad cook, but the tune could work. she thought as she looked at Kate, worry written all over her face.

"Kate, have you been looking after yourself properly? Taking the right medication? Do you want me to play you a song?" She asked finally, before pulling her pick from out of her pocket, just in case. It was only then that she realised Kate had said something, it must have been whilst she as thinking about what she would say because she wasn't quite sure what the question was. Taking a wild guess and figuring she would have asked how she herself was doing she shrugged and smiled slightly. " I'm alright, I just have the flu is all." She said waving her hand to shrug it off. It was no big thing, afterall everyone got the flu at some point, and Shiloh had had it for three days. It would probably be almost over by now anyway. Atleast she hoped it would be, she hated being sick, and when she was, Grace kept kicking her out of the dorm. It was very unfair to say the least. She really wasn't much of a bestfriend.

xx- shiloh would probably have heard of the condition seeing as one of her uncle's is a doctor, but not nessecarily, its up to you, I don't care either way.

Kate winced slightly when her head ache started to get louder and more painful.Usually she tried to ignore it because this one head ache had been with her for nearly a year and a half so she was practically used to it though sometimes it would get kind of strong out of no where and hurt her head. The hospital was starting to become a second home to her theses days, she would finish a packet of pain killers in around two days which was not healthy at all but it took a lot of them to ease the pain and even that didn't last long. She tried her best not to take too much but at times she just had to.She was also taking other tablets to help keep her heart rate and adrenaline down. They worked most days but sometimes when she was under stress or in a situation where adrenaline would spike but luckily she hadn't been in any of those situations in a while so the pills were working grand. She hadn't told anyone just Tara. She didn't like to broadcast it really and she was glad people didn't ask.She didn't mind friends asking though, close friends anybody else who asked was just nosy and wanted some gossip. But no one had done that so Kate was okay and all the scandal about Briar kept the school going for weeks.Kate looked down for few seconds after Shiloh had talked."Well you see I actually have something called Phaeochromocytoma, tumor in the adrenaline glands"She said ,she didn't think it was a type of cancer just a rare genetic disease "Ever heard of it?"She asked curiously,no one other then the doctors had known what it was and they had even made a mistake the first time, but you never know,Shiloh's mother could be a nurse. "Yeah, but there is no medication for puking up all your food"She said sighing, that was her big problem as well as sleeping, she just didn't like taking sleeping pills because she felt terrible after them so for now she was going to persevere with a few hours or sleep every night.Kate had to admit she wouldn't mind if Shiloh played her a song, she hadn't heard any in ages. "If you don't mind"She said quietly

She can if you want

x-Sorry this took so long. I hate myself.
Shiloh looked at her friend. They had been so close once, and maybe they would get to that point again. She definately would consider Kate a close friend again, once they got back to knowing eachother. So she ofcourse was very worried about Kate being sick. It was not a good thing and she was angry at herself for not having been around when Kate first became ill. She hadn't seen Sara around much either and so she wondered if Sara had maybe transferred. She had been in Ravenclaw had she not? Shiloh couldn't remember, She hadn't really much spoken to Sara anyway. Not that she didn't like the twin of Kate, it was just that their personalities were so different and Shiloh got along better with the Kate personality over the Sara one. She really hoped that Kate was okay. She wouldn't want to lose a good friend.

When Kate told Shiloh about her tumor, Shiloh gasped. It was a tumor that developed on the adrenal glands and could cause quite a problem within the body if left unchecked. Her uncle was a doctor and so he would tell her about all sorts of interesting cases. It couldn't be treated like most other tumors and would need an operation. However, Shiloh was surprised that magic could do nothing for it. Why not? "Oh Kate, that's terrible, are you okay? How are you handling it?" She asked as she hugged her friend, though it was very soft. "Can't magic do anything for you? I mean, the operation in the muggle world can be very invasive." She said as she looked at her. Then something occured to her. Phaeochromocytoma is a rare genetic disease. That meant it was an inherited genetic trait. Sara was Kate's twin, did she have it too? She realised she was being alittle invasive but she wanted to know if her friends were okay. She knew this wasn't going to kill her, but it would cause alot of pain. "Kate, Phaeochromocytoma is a rare genetic disease... and Sara is your twin... Um... does she have it too?" She asked, sort of stating the obvious as she went. Her uncle had once told her that families that suffer Phaeochromocytoma sometimes have it skip a generation or two. So it could have been out of the family since Kate Grandparents and not showed up until now, or even further back. So mybe Sara was okay, they weren't identical afterall.

Shiloh smiled when Kate agreed to let her play a song for her. Though she wasn't completely sure what song she should play. Maybe something that would help Kate in her time of need. Something like Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae. Shiloh sat her guitar on her lap and smiled at Kate. "I think you might like this one. I heard it not too long ago. Its abit old now, but I like it." She said as she played the first note. She began to sing in the next part.
"Three little birds, sat on my window.
And they told me I don't need to worry.
Summer came like cinnamon
So sweet,
Little girls double-dutch on the concrete.

Maybe sometimes, we've got it wrong, but it's alright
The more things seem to change, the more they stay the same
Oh, don't you hesitate.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

Blue as the sky, sunburnt and lonely,
Sipping tea in a bar by the roadside,
(just relax, just relax)
Don't you let those other boys fool you,
Got to love that afro hair do.

Maybe sometimes, we feel afraid, but it's alright
The more you stay the same, the more they seem to change.
Don't you think it's strange?

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

'Twas more than I could take, pity for pity's sake
Some nights kept me awake, I thought that I was stronger
When you gonna realise, that you don't even have to try any longer?
Do what you want to.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

Oh, you're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow."

Shiloh put her guitar down and smiled at Kate. "I really like that song." She said as she placed a hand on Kate's shoulder.

Kate looked off at the distance. The scenery around Hogwarts really was beautiful. She had been told about New Zealand's green hills when she was in Ireland.New Zealand and Ireland where the same weather wise and they also looked the same.the mountains, etc made her think of Ireland. She missed it but England was fast becoming more like home and she had Hogwarts too.Home in England could be full with tension at times, her parents were always worrying about her and Kate didn't like the over protectiveness. She found it really annoying and it was getting on her nerves. She fought with them a lot too. They fought over the most stupid things,it was the same with her siblings but she didn't really fight with Sara because they didn't talk much. Her two sisters and brother had been asked to keep an eye out for her too. This was annoying too because she didn't like the fact that most things she did could be reported back home. She was't sure whether her siblings were actually doing that, she appreciated it if they weren't and she felt bad for causing the stress but she couldn't help the hormones that were going into overdrive, ever since she had found out she was sick.

Kate smiled, that had been her reaction too_Out of all the places to get a tumor there had definitely not been on her list.Kate shrugged, she wasn't too bad.At this stage she just didn't really care, she had almost gotten used to it.The panic attacks weren't as often because she didn't have the stress worrying about Stefan and the doctors had given her these tablets that had something to do with stopping the attacks. She hadn't asked the doctors what the tablets did,all she needed to know was that they worked. She hugged Shiloh back.It was nice to be comforted. Most of the time she didn't let anyone comfort her,but right now it felt nice. "I don't know,I haven't really tried."Kate said truthfully. She was just putting all her hope into the fact that if the tumor was gone so would everything else.Kate had thought about that a lot herself but Sara hadn't shown any signs of having the disease, maybe she should get it checked "Well she hadn't had any signs of it,I seem to be the only one who inherited it"She said bitterly. She was glad that no one else in her family had gotten the disease but it did suck being the only one.

Kate was glad when Shiloh said what song she was singing.Even though it was old she liked it.When Shiloh began playing Kate sand along under her breath."Me too"She said smiling. She out her hand on top of Shiloh,s "Thanks, this means a lot"She said quietly
