Sapphire had been antsy since returning to the castle. Originally, she had wanted to find Oliver, or even Alkander, to discuss this with. But in the end, she couldn't bring herself to find or tell either of them. She was having trouble processing what had happened that day in Obsidian Harbour. And just how were you supposed to explain something like that? 'Oh, hey, I met my twin brother today.'
It didn't seem like the best conversation starter.
Still, she had gone to the Owl shop there on the Harbour and had bought an elegant, black horned owl. He was insanely snarky, and he hooted loudly at her as she entered the owlery there at school. She walked over to him, pulling a treat from her pocket and offering it to him. She supposed she should name him, but she wasn't sure what would fit.
Sapphire had spent most of the day trying to figure out what to write to Onyx. Despite her promise to send him a letter, she couldn't bring herself to just... reveal everything about her to a complete stranger. Instead, she pulled a slim scrap of paper from her pocket and wrapped it around the owl's leg. The paper itself held only four words- I promised, didn't I? She knew he was an intelligent bird, so she looked him in the eye as she told him the address her brother had given her.
The owl hooted once before taking flight. She watched as he went through a window higher up in the tower.
She stood there a bit before she sighed and went back the way she came.
