Arianna hadn't owled her parents since first arriving at Hogwarts this year, and she was feeling slightly guilty. She wandered up to the library from the common room, with her long letter. When she reached the Owlery, Ari looked around for her earless owl Sheba. Spotting her, she called the owl down, stroking her on the head when she landed on her arm.

"Hey there girl" she said softly, reaching out to attatch her scrolls her Sheba's outstretched leg. Carry her over to the open window, she held out her arm "Home" she said, before her owl flew off. Sighing, Ari watched her flap away until she disapeared completely. Closing the window, Ari hopped up onto the window sill, and stared out at the grounds.

Isaac had promised his parents that he would write to them while he was in school and even though he had forgotten to write to them earlier in the year, he finally had time to get around to it. He walked up to the Owlery from the dungeons and didn't know how he was going to send the letter but he assumed there would be school owls for him to use, he sure hoped so otherwise he'd have to ask Isabella for hers and she wasn't talking to him right now.

When he got to the Owlery he saw an extremely pretty girl sitting on the window sill and Isaac momentarily stopped in his tracks in hesitation to continue, but still went in anyway. "Er, hi," he said rather nervously to her with an awkward smile. He was reminded of the time when he'd gone home to find Isabella standing there in his living room with her suitcases.

(How do Isabella and Isaac know each other?)

Arianna looked around when she heard a voice "Hey" she said to the boy that stood there. She swung her legs round, and hopped of the window ledge. The boy looked like a first year, and Ari recognised him vaguely from around the castle. Not really knowing what to say, she leant against the wall an asked, rather lamely "What brings you to this... end of the castle?"
Why am I so bad at talking to boys? she thought exasperatedly.

Lame ^^

[Long story-ish haha. His older sister is Isabella's family's new caretaker and Isabella wanted to run away so his sister told her to go live in her house in New Zealand which is where Isaac was staying for the summer and that's how they met, when she entered his house randomly and they became like best friends and he likes her but she doesn't like him :p And he kissed her and she got mad at him!]

Isaac watched the girl hop off the window ledge and his smile grew slightly. When she asked what what he was doing here, he held up his letter that was in his hand. "Just came to send a letter." He looked up where all the owls were either sitting and hooting silently or asleep with their heads tucked into their wings. "Are some of these owls schools owls that we can use?" he asked, feeling rather stupid, and now she would definitely know he was a first year with that dumb question. "'Cause I don't have an owl," he continued with a slight laugh.

Ari nodded "Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can" she said "I have my own owl" she explained, indicating vaguely out the window from where Sheba had flown off. She knew he was a first year, but t didn't bother her.
"Which house are you in?" she asked easily, looking at him closely, trying to figure it out for herself. She knew he wasn't fellow Hufflepuff, because she hadn't seen him around the common room or anything. He had seemed friendly enough, Ravenclaw maybe?

"Okay cool," he said gratefully when she explained to him that he could use a school owl, now to figure out which ones they were. When she asked what house he was in he proudly replied, "Slytherin, and you?" He smiled at her charmingly indicating that he was proud of his house. Isaac wasn't really one for house stereotypes or house bashing, but his other housemates who cared about not talking to Hufflepuffs were rubbing off on him.

Ari smiled in return.
"Me? I'm in Hufflepuff" she replied, also with a hint of pride. She wasn't sure how this boy would react to finding out she was in Hufflepuff. Ari decided to leave her mind open, and she looked closely at him to gauge his reaction.

Isaac waited for her answer with his hands in his pockets, wrapped around the letter home. "Oh," he replied when she said she was in Hufflepuff. He had been hoping that she would somehow be in Slytherin and that he just never noticed her in the common room because he was so blinded by Isabella. Quickly recovering he smiled at her and said, "That's cool, is it nice?" He was trying to be better than the rest of his housemates and not judge Hufflepuffs. It also might've been the fact that this girl was extremely pretty and she could've been a Squib for all he cared, it wouldn't have mattered to him. Before she could answer however, he asked, "I'm not holding you up from going anywhere am I?" Although he was being polite and asking if she had to leave he hoped she didn't have to.

Ari smiled brightly when he asked her about Hufflepuff "It's great" she said "We get stereotyped as pushovers, but it's not true" she added. The were alot of people in her own house that she knew were definetly not pushovers.
"What about Slytherin?" she asked interestedly. She didn't know much about the house, and hadn't really met many people from that house, she now realised.
"Nope" she replied "Wait, do you need to be somewhere?' she asked him, just in case.

[Aww cute! ^_^ ]

Isaac listened to her talk about Hufflepuff and smiled weakly when she asked how Slytherin was in return. He chuckled lightly when she asked if he needed to be anywhere. "Nope, I just gotta mail this letter," he replied, holding up his letter again. He supposed he should actually get around to mailing it so he didn't look like a fool just standing in front of her the whole time. He walked over to a nearby owl and called it down, which thankfully obliged. Once he had tied it around and told them to send it to his home in London, he turned back around to the girl to finally answer her question. "Slytherin is nice," he replied with a smile, using the same words she had used when talking about Hufflepuff. "I mostly just stick to myself really," he said with a shrug. It was true, he hadn't made very many friends yet but he didn't mind it, sometimes he preferred it that way since being home with his younger brothers and sisters sometimes drove him crazy. Realizing he hadn't yet introduced himself, Isaac mentally slapped himself and stuck out his hand. "I'm Isaac, Isaac Chambers," he said regally with a bright smile.

Ari nodded lightly, and watched him tie the letter to the owl.
"London, cool" she said, as she heard the address.
She nodded. She had been eager to make friends when she had been a first year, but that was in her personality.
She took his hand, biting her lip. Am I supposed to know that name? she thought worriedly.
"I'm Arianna Tipley, well, Ari" she said.

[Sorry for the delay!]

"It's a pleasure to meet you Ari," Isaac replied with a genuine smile. There was something about this girl that calmed him instantly and made him want to be more friendly and social, not secluding himself all the time. When she said 'cool' after hearing him address his letter to London he asked, "Where are you from?"

((Don't worry :p))

"Northern Canada" Ari replied. She walked over to the window sill, and hopped up to resume her sitting position.
"It's really different from here in New Zealand" she added, feeling a familiar twinge of homesickness. Even in her second year here at school, Ari still missed her hometown and family. She tucked a strand hair behind her ear, looking back at Isaac to take her mind off Canada.

"Canada," he replied with a chuckle, nodding his head in approval. "That's nice." He nodded his head yes once again in agreement with her statement of New Zealand being different, it was different from London in his opinion as well, a lot warmer and tropical. Isaac leaned against the wall, feeling a bit more at ease with Ari here and asked, "Do you miss home?" Although he wouldn't admit it, he really did miss his twin sisters a lot more than he let on.

Ari smiled softly "Yeah, it's nice... and cold" she said. People thought that she was mad for liking the freezing temperatures of the North, but she loved all stuff you could do outside. Especially toboganning and riding horses in the snow. It was all really magical.
"Yeah, I still miss home a little, but I'm used to it" she said with a shrug "You?" she asked in return. For some reason, Isaac didn't strike her as the type of person who would show that kind of emotion.

Isaac laughed when Ari said it was nice and cold. He nodded his head and said, "Yeah, call me crazy but I prefer the dreary London weather to this warm New Zealand weather," he commented softly. He had heard that during the winter however it did get cold so perhaps he was judging the place too soon. He still found it odd that the seasons were reversed here. When he went back home to London at the end of December, it would be summer here in New Zealand, but winter over there in England.

Isaac nodded his head as he listened to Ari say she was used to the feeling of missing home. Of course she would be used to it since she wasn't a first year. When she asked the question back in return he pondered his answer for a bit. "Yeah I miss home," he admitted, thinking more of his city rather than his family, not that he didn't miss them either. "I'm still getting used to this whole roommate situation and things like that so I look forward to going home and sleep in the privacy of my own room and stuff like that," he said rubbing the back of his neck as he laughed nervously. He knew that some of the things he said might've sounded as if he were a spoiled brat, and truthfully he was, but he didn't want Arianna knowing that.

Arianna nodded "I know what you mean! There's hardly any snow here, and the pond doesn't freeze over enough for skating" she said, gesturing randomly out the window at the lake below. She laughed when he mentioned room mates "I can't say I had a problem with it" she told him "Probably because I grew up as an only child, and never had to share a room, or anything" she explained, shrugging. It was true, the fact that she would be sharing a room with her friends had excited her when she'd first arrived at Hogwarts. "It's not too bad, once you make friends and everything"

Isaac laughed lightly when she said there was hardly any snow and the weather wasn't nearly cold enough to freeze the lake. "I guess that's a good thing though, I heard there's a giant squid in there or other animals, what happens to them when the lake freezes?" he asked Ari with a chuckle, wondering if she'd even know the answer to his random question. He had also heard there were mermaids and he really wanted to see one but he hadn't taken the time yet to go out and explore. He nodded his head when she said that sharing rooms with someone got better once you actually made friends. "Oh right," he said with a smile, though truthfully he didn't even acknowledge his roommates, perhaps he should. He rarely spent his time in there at all. Now he would need to make more of an effort. "I mostly like staying in the common room for some reason," he commented with a shrug. He spent more time there than in his dorm room, and often times he even fell asleep there, though not often because he was afraid someone would draw on his face or magically shave off an eyebrow or something. "What's your favorite place at Hogwarts?" he asked her with interest.

Ari smiled,
"Well I guess the lake's so deep that they can survive under the ice" she said, shrugging. It was a good question.
"Yeah, the common room's nice" Ari said smiling. She loved curling up in her favourite armchair by the fire in winter, and eating marshmallows.
She thought for a few seconds
"My favourite place at Hogwarts..." she said slowly, before answering
"Probably the Lake" she said
"Yeah, the Lake" she said again, having made her mind
"What about you? Have you seen enough of Hogwarts yet to know?" Ari asked in return, fiddling with a strand of hair.
