Brian had decided to write a letter to his parents informing them that he would not be coming home for the Christmas hollidays, he felt bad but also knew that his own happiness was important and seeing as how he would most definately not be happy staying at home alone waiting for Christmas and not allowed to use magic would not make him happy at all. He wondered if they would send him a present for Christmas seeing as how he was basically blowing them off for school.
 
Zazuka came up to check on all the owls. Jinx had showed up late the other day with a feather in her right front paw. Zazuka had stuck him in her dorm but she did share a room with four other girls and any one of them could let the little cat out. Zazuka stoped dead at the front door when she saw Brian. There was a small part of her brain that was telling her Run! but the rest of her wouldn't move.
 
"Oh Zazuka! what's up!" Brian said turning towards her she seemed a bit dumbstruck which kinda left Brian feeling a bit odd "Is something wrong?" Brian asked quizzically girls were definately weird.
 
"No!" Zazuka said alittle to loudly then recolleted herself and sighed. "No nothing at all, just day dreaming that's all." She said knowing that no one was going to buy that but tryed anyway. "I was also looking into this feather that I found on Jinx could have not come from here thought." She said looking at it carfuly. It wasn't a normal owl feather.
 
"I swear if I see your cat hurting the owls I'm gonna jinx him!" Brian said a bit angrilly "what would you be daydreaming about up here in the Owlery?" Brian asked curious.
 
Zazuka bit her lip. She thought it was a bit funny that he had used her cat's name as a threat even thought it's also the name of that kind of spell. "The ball, Willow's Rain at this time of the year. The sarounding lake frezzes over so one can ice skate on it. Fun but I would have had to be carful on my shoes that I sliped on old blades to." She said. Zazuka hadn't gotten an answer to the letter she sent home. She guessed they really didn't want anything to do with her any more.
 
"Oh" Brian said with a bit of a laugh "well I'm sending my letter telling my folks I won't be coming home for Christmas, I'm sure I'll get a few back telling me I should come but eventually they'll cave" Brian said walking over towards Athena "I'm sure they'll be sad but it'll be okay besides the Yule Ball is this year and I heard it will be good" Brian said tying the letter towards Athena's leg.
 
"I think there is one every year." Zazuka said in a wondering voice. "Oh I was right, the feather didn't come form this Owlry, look it's an eagle feather." She said holding it up. Her eyes where wide but no where near the way they looked when she still wore her glasses. "I'm sure your parents will let you stay too." She added to the end of that.
 
"well they very well can't make me come home, they wouldn't know where to begin" Brian said with a smile "I'm sure it'll be loads more fun here anyways, meeting new people I mean" Brian said looking around as Athena flew off into the distance going to deliver a letter his parents might not want to hear.
 
Zazuka laughed into her right hand. "Wow never thought that parents wouldn't know how to make thier children do something." She said. "Anyway I'm sure the ball will be fun. Even it did take Harri to talk me into going." She said. Zazuka had a mind for puzzles and this had been one of them. She now knew that he hadn't read all that much of her journal so her secret was safe. Silly as it might be it still had made her heart sink.
 
"yeah well it's the bonus to having Muggles for parents" Brian said smiling, he enjoyed talking with Zazuka alot It was just like talking with Andromeda something soo easy to do as though they were brother and sister.
 
Zazuka was glad that things where some what clear. She still held hope that he would look at her as more than a friend but not now. There was too much to do and seemingly not enough time to do it all in. "I have muggle parents too though they seem to be putting in the effort into makeing me stay away." She said.
 
"so um... are you going to the Yule Ball with anyone?" Brian asked a bit curious as to what type of person Zazuka might go to the ball with. He wouldn't want her to meet up with someone that would treat her badly.
 
Zazuka was a bit stunned. "No I'm not. No one has asked me but that's ok. I'm going to have fun with people there." She said. Quite frankly Zazuka was not the type to be all twiters about the boys around her but there was something about Brian that broke that. "Are you going with anyone?" She asked a bit curiose herself of why Brian was going.
 
"Yeah, I'm going with Kailey, do you know her?" Brian asked curious as to why nobody asked Zazuka she was a great girl and any guy would be lucky to have her as a date "It's still early I'm sure somebody will ask you!" Brian said with a smile.
 
Did she know Kailey? She was the one that was there when her 'vison' kicked in on holloween night. "Yeah I know her, She's and awsome person. I don't know would ti be absolutly nessery to have someone to go with really? But I'm sure I will be asked by some one." She said brightly. Zazuka didn't want to acknowlige it but there was touch of jelosy in her heart.
 
"I don't think you need to have a date, I just sort've accidently asked her and she said yes" Brian said smiling though feeling a bit nervous thinking about how he asked Kailey "I promise though to save you a dance if you don't end up going with someone... Andromeda as well, wait is she going?" Brian asked curious.
 
Zazuka grined a little too brightly but she was sure that he wouldn't notice. The grin droped when she remembered Andy. "No she's not, Andy's having a slumer party in the Gryffendore commenroom for those that are not going. Cleaver really but I do wish she'd reconsiter." Zauzka said looking up as if to half way roll her eyes.
 
"Oh...Well I guess that might be fun as well, how do you think you've done on your Exams so far?" Brian asked figuring it might be better to change the subject.
 
Zauzka tilted her head. Why was he suddenly being wierd about the ball? She figured it may be best not to push the subjet thought. "I think I missed a question or two but so far well. EE at the very least. What about you think your going to get stright O's?" She asked exsitedly. She knew Brian if any one was capable of getting the highet marks of the year.
 
"I hope so, I've been studying like crazy over the past few weeks especially in Charms" Brian said looking out seeing the small dot that was Athena "I don't know, it would be great to get a perfect score but that's very hard to do" Brian said absent mindedly.
 
Zazuka sighed. "I don't have that kind of skill but O=8 avrage is quite possible and lovely for me." She said with a sigh. "I am trying hard for better though. I guess everyone is aiming for that perfict score." She added quickly so she wouldn't sound like she settling for a lower score.
 
"Yeah I think it's gonna be pretty much down to us for the chance to help out Ravenclaw, some of the other students just arn't doing their part anymore" Brian said turning around an 8 was still good in his book.
 
"You've noticed that too, most are not showing up a lot. I wonder it's a bug going around." Zauzka said. She had wondered why there where some people missing from class alot of the time.
 
"yeah I hope they get better soon Ravenclaw is really starting to fall behind and we could use the extra help" Brian said a bit bitterly
