With his hands stuffed into the pocket of his slacks, Jeremy waited for his date. Just thinking that to himself put a smile on his face. Jeremy couldn't believe that Sapphire had been sort of right. She had been wrong about the person but correct in knowing that he wouldn't be alone this evening. Jeremy hadn't spoken to Kendra all year so he had not bothered to find out if what Saph thought was true. Jeremy didn't know what had come over him that day when he had asked her out. Perhaps Sapphire's confidence had pushed him. Things had started out innocently enough, with Jeremy simply asking Alyss if she was alright. He had heard through the school grapevine that she had been found crying the day of the Rumor magazine's release. And then,Jeremy had blurted out an invitation to the Ball before he had stopped to think, which was a good thing because if he thought about it he wouldn't have asked. He had liked Alyss for years, ever since he had been forced to sit behind her in Charms and Potions.

Jeremy watched with slight interest as other students passed by and entered the hall. He was surprised at some of the pairings and realized that people would probably be very shocked when they saw him. He hadn't told anyone about his date and wasn't sure if Alyss had either. As a first year passed by, Jeremy thought back to when he had been that small. Back then, life was so uncomplicated. Now, Jeremy had many things on his mind, but tonight they had been pushed to the side. He could hardly believe that it was his last year and Jeremy was both eager and reluctant to get the night started. His blue eyes drifted back towards the stairs that led to the dungeons, wondering when she would come up. He hoped she wouldn't be much longer.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply... :(

Alyss slowly walked up the stairs from the dungeons, trying to make sure not to trip on her dress, that would definitely be awkward, and she would never be able to look at Jeremy again. A tiny smile spread across her face, as she reached the top of the stairs, and saw Jeremy standing there, waiting for her. He looked amazing. She couldn't believe that the boy she had a crush on for years, had asked her to the Yule Ball... It was a dream come true for her.

Her mind went back to the day that he had asked her. She had been crying because of that stupid magazine Rumor Had It had revealed that she had a crush on Jeremy, and she thought that she would never have a crush on Jeremy, especially when they mentioned that perhaps she was using him for his power. But then when he found her and asked her if she was all right, and she blurted out the whole story, he asked her out. Of course, she had said yes. He had looked so adorable with that bright red blush on his face...

'Jeremy! She called out, walking over to him, the smile still spread on her face. 'You look wonderful.' She told him, blushing.

When Jeremy's eyes spotted Alyss, a slow grin appeared across his face. He couldn't believe his luck at having Alyss not only say yes to going to the ball with him but actually like him. He'd never directly asked her if the magazine was true, but he figured that accepting his invitation to the dance was as good as admitting it. It made Jeremy wonder what else from the magazine was true. He'd come to the conclusion that the writer of the magazine did have the scoop when it came to some things but other times the writer seemed to just enjoy putting information out there to see how it would be accepted. Jeremy pulled his hand out of his pocket and gave a little wave to his Slytherin date. She looked beautiful, and oddly enough, without even asking her what color she planned on wearing, he'd picked a matching blue shirt to put under his jacket. "Thanks" he said, his cheeks blushing slightly at the compliment. "You look beautiful" he said as he gave her his arm.

"You ready to head in?" he asked as he walked towards the open doors of the Great Hall. He could see people already milling around and dancing and kidding around. He couldn't wait to get inside. It looked very nice inside. He was pretty sure that the house elves and professors had outdone themselves this year. "Do you want to dance or grab a bite first?" he asked, leaving the option to her. Jeremy wasn't much of a dancer, but he'd been taught a little bit by a friend so he could deal with dancing if he had to. The Head Boy spotted a couple of fellow seventh years and he nodded his head to them.

It's ok.

Alyss smiled as she took his arm. 'Thank you.' She murmured, as the two of them walked through the open doors of the Great Hall. 'Wow,' She whispered stunned, her eyes widening as she gazed around the place. Sure she had been to the other Yule Balls before, but she had never really admired it before, and she hadn't been with someone else before... She had mainly gone by herself, and had left pretty much straight away. 'They really did a wonderful job this year decorating.' She glanced at him, and smiled. 'You and Briar must've done a great job organising this. Was it difficult?'

She continued glancing around, and her eyes fell on the dance floor. Alyss loved dancing, but she hadn't done it for a long time. Did Jeremy know how to dance? She didn't want to embarrass him or anything. She heard him ask her if she wanted to dance or eat first, and she grinned. He was giving her a choice? She knew not many guys would've done that. 'Dance please for a bit if that's all right.' She laughed. 'I love dancing, but I haven't done it for so long...'

She looked at him to see his reaction to what she asked, her eyes sparkling excitedly, a grin from ear to ear. She was excited to be here with him, and she knew that she was going to have a great time. Jeremy was being a wonderful date. And it was her dreams come true so far.

"To tell you the truth, I didn't help much at all. I'm not really the party type" he admitted. He'd helped hang up decorations, but that was the extent of his assistance for which he was glad. Jeremy didn't know the first thing about planning a party and he had too many other things going on to concentrate on party planning. Watching Alyss look at the dance floor before she even replied, he knew what her choice was going to be. Jeremy walked onto the dance floor with her and began to dance along with the other people on the dance floor. "Sorry in advance if I step on your feet." He looked down at her shoes and hoped that he wouldn't step on them. They looked expensive. It would be terribly embarrassing. The song that was playing was mid-tempo, so he followed the moves that he saw the other guys doing and hoped that he was doing them right.

After a moment, Jeremy leaned closer to Alyss. "Can you believe this is our last ball?" he asked. The Head boy hadn't been to all of them, but he was glad to be at this one and with a date no less. The Ravenclaw felt someone bump into him and he looked over his shoulder, shaking his head as the guy apologised. There was no need for it. He was sure if the guy stayed close to him long enough that he would bang into him and they'd be even.
