Launching the boats

A few students had gotten their boats set up, and James was helping anyone else who hadn’t yet managed to get in the water. Boats out of vegetables didn’t seem like a good idea, but he had been pleasantly surprised by how many of them had actually been able to float.

“Ok, whose next? We’ve got plenty of pumpkins to carve out, though I’m partial to that big squash over there,” James pointed out a few of the larger options to the students that were approaching and ready to take part.

Teddy had never seen anything like this before, and he had to admit it was exciting that Hogwarts was marking its 50th year in such a way. As head boy, he figured he shoild to set an example and help others carve a pumpkin, and get on the water. He helped until he decided it looked fun and he wanted a go himself, and it was now his turn. “Me professor, though I think I’ll stick with a pumpkin,” he said disregarding the squash option for no real reason.

So, Jonah had sort of never forgotten that he met Professor Cade multiple times in first year. And this seemed like a fun event that he could enjoy with Lumos despite them being busy with Quidditch and the Brotherhood. But yeah, Jonah hadn't forgotten he'd met Professor Cade though Lumos had assured him that it was likely Professor Cade had forgotten about him by now. Still, no chances were being taken so he was definitely trying sneak into a boat with his boyfriend in hand. He was not subtle, considering he had his free hand covering the side of his face. "I don't know how to make it move," he admits to his boyfriend as soon as they'd gotten in but he did make an effort to paddle with his hand.
