Kate walked along the corridors of the Hogwarts School already feeling back at home.She had had a very emotional summer holidays and she was glad to be in a place of normality.She was still mourning Michael's death.A part of her still couldn't believe he was gone.But these are just bumps in her road that she has to get over.Well hopefully things would get back on track for her this year.She had OWLs coming up and she needed to get studying.This was a hard thing for Kate as she wasn't very motivated.But all those sleepless nights she had read a lot of books from the library,a lot detailing spells and notes for fifth and sixth year.She had even written down notes,she had been so bored and frustrated.She had done half the study work needed for this year.Thankfully the sleepless nights were now gone and she slept mostly soundly at night,except for the odd one or two nightmares.It was relief not worrying about panic attacks,head aches or vomiting.The tumor being gone had lifted a huge weight from her shoulders and she was a lot happier and carefree these days.She was still thin and she looked sick,weight wise.But her face was shinning and her cheeks were rosy.She looked a lot better compared to last year

She had now left the castle and was walking along the grounds.It was a chilly afternoon and Kate wished she had brought a jacket but once she kept moving she would be warm.She had three sheets of music in her left hand.She wanted to practice a song for Glee club whenever it returned.It was called "When She Loved Me" from the old film called Toy Story.It was an old song but the lyrics were lovely and Kate loved the song.She liked to sing outside even though her singing teacher would of given out to her saying it would damage her voice because her vocal chords were open but Kate preferred to sing in the outdoors.She entered the Hogwarts Garden and breathed in deeply the smells.The Hogwarts Garden was one of her favorite places to be.She walked to the other end of the garden,away from the entrance in case anybody didn't want to hear her sing.She then sat down on a bench by the wall and she took out her music and began to sing.

Sapphire wanted to surpise the school when they came back with the fact that she, voiceless wonder and thr butt of jokes made by 'Rumor Has It' now had one less thing that people cpould make fun of her for. Funny enough the song that was going though her mind at the momet was called "Let Go". She was walking though the Lawn at the moment trying to find insperation for her dorm room door.

She was leas to the gardens because of a voice. It was a very pretty voice that she thought she recongnised. "Kate Moon I thought I knew who that tone belonged to. How have you been? She said to her fellow Hufflepuff. She smiled wide and waited for her reaction to her melodic Greek voice. The thing that she has been wanting to hear ever since she lost it.

Kate was in her own world as she was singing the song.It was a sad song but still nice.It was about all the times that he had shared with his love but now she had moved on.Kate really loved the song.She should be singing happier things.She had gone through enough sadness in her life to last a lifetime.The fact that she didn't know who wrote the magazine "Rumor Has It" bugged her still a little but she had gotten over it.She should care about what people think of her,it only mattered what the people close to her thought.She had expected the superlative result as well.The magazine was the reason for that but again she didn't mind.She was annoyed at what had been written about Stefan.That wasn't something to write in a magazine and the person hadn't known the full story and maybe if they had they wouldn't of written it but what was done was done and nothing could be changed.

Kate looked up when an unfamiliar voice spoke.She was confused for a moment "I thought Sapphire couldn't speak"she thought but then she pushed that thought aside.She was speaking and that was all that mattered. "I've been pretty okay and how have you been?"She asked returning the smile.She was happy that Sapphire had her voice back.She had always wondered why she had never spoken but it hadn't been her place to ask.

"Better than ever. It's been an eventful winter break I can tell you that much. What about these new first years? I do hope they can help us win the house cup. Ravenclaw has won how many years now?" She said joking a bit. She had good friends in Ravenclaw and they didn't seem to let winning the House Cup so many times get to their heads. Sapphire took a seat down by a set of posies that she saw where still growing and smiled up at Kate. She felt more normal now that she could have real conversations with people instead of miming everything out. She tucked a strand of hair out of her face partly to show what she had done to herself.

Sapphire had done something quite unlike herself but in some ways very much like herself. She had gone out and gotten a tattoo. A set of stars on her left temple. She had thought about doing the right but saw that this would be too much. She was planning another one based on dreams she kept having but that would come later. Maybe when summer came around and she had more time to think about what she was going to do with that. "What song where you singing. I don't think I've ever heard it on an MMP." Sapphire asked while trying to think of all the songs she had head around schools coming from magical music players.

"I know how you feel"She said smiling.She had had an eventful few months,both good and bad.It was still great knowing that she would be able to eat whatever she good and not worry about not being able to sleep.She would like to win the house cup before she left the school,it would be brilliant if the Hufflepuffs beat them but sadly usually they came last.Oh well,there were still three years including this year for them to win it.She was determined to win the quidditch match this year.She felt cheated about last year.Everyone on the GryffinPuff team had worked their @ss' off.But there was nothing she could do about it now and she was going to win it this year. "I'm looking forward to the quidditch are you trying out?She asked,smiling.

Kate looked at the tattoo on the side of her left temple.It actually really suited her "Wow,that's lovely"She said admiring the stars.Kate herself would never get one,she didn't like the idea of getting a tattoo but it looked really nice on Sapphire.She wondered why she got one,Kate's parents probably wouldn't let her get one,maybe when she was eighteen her mind would of changed."It's called When She Loved Me,from the old movie Toy Story"She said smiling,the song going through her head. "What songs do you like?"She asked

Sapphire smiled. "Thanks, I came up with it after I got my voice back. Look towards the stars though I don't know if I get my point across like this. She said. Sapphire for was not looking for attention though at one point it would seem like she did. She was being herself which happened to get attention sometimes. Well now that she had a voice that people could listen to. She did get the attention of her dorm mates every year when she painted on the door but that was about it. Sapphire shook her head to Quidditch try outs. "I figure that we have enough players in Hufflepuff to make up for the fact that I'm not there. That and you can't make a bruise look artful."

Sapphire looked up trying to figure out how to answer the question about the music that she liked. "Nearly everything I listen to. For the moment I like a song called "Let Go" because I like the message that it has behind it. Let go, let go. jump in. Oh well what you waiting for? It's all right cuz there's beauty in the break down." She sang. Sapphire didn't think that she was all that good at singing but she had been told by Morgan and Elvira that she could pass for a siren with her accent and the somewhat celestial tone to her voice. Suddenly she had a thought. "Hey Kate do you play and instrument?"

Kate liked the tattoo.It wasn't too noticble and it was quite pretty.Kate wondered what it would be like never to be able to talk and then suddenly be able to get your point across.It must be an amazing feeling.Kate didn't know why she had no voice,it was something that she was curious about but if Sapphire wanted her to know she would tell her.She remembered that something about Sapphire had been in the "Rumor Has It" magazine but she couldn't remember what.She must hate got a lot of teasing due to her lack of voice.People who took advantage of other people's disabilities were cruel people.Kate hated people like that.Kate nodded,she was trying -out and she hoped she made the team.She loved flying and she had been practicing over the break.She was much fitter then she had been at the beginning of the break.She had to limit her amount of exercise so she would gain weight.She hated being thin.She got tired real easy and she would be able to break any of her bones easily.Luckily she hadn't broken anything and she didn't plan on breaking anything for the rest of her life. "Hopefully we will win this year"She said smiling.

Thinking about quidditch reminded her of the letter she had written to Stefan.He hadn't been able to reply but she knew he had read them and appreciated them.He had told her when he had come back that he would hopefully see her play.She had missed him so much over the holidays and her hand involuntarily went the heart-pendant necklace around her neck.It had been his mothers and Kate loved it.She always wore it,she only took i off when she was going swimming or going for a shower.It was on all the time.When she thought of him her hand touched it.She didn't know why she did it but she did.She couldn't wait to see him.She wondered how the holidays had been for him.They mustn't have been easy and she just hoped he was okay.She wanted to tell him that she loved him.It had occured to her long ago that she did but she hadn't had the guts to tell him but now she knew she could say it.Kate had never heard of the song that Sapphire had said,but the lyrics did have a nice meaning. "You have a lovely singing voice"She said smiling.She loved it when she met people who could sing,it must be a pretty new feeling to Sapphire."Yeah,the piano and violin,why?"She asked curiously.

Sapphire noticed the retch for the for the locket. She wondered what it could mean but knew better than to ask. Somethings where best left inside the mind mind after all. Sapphire didn't have heirlooms of any kind. She didn't remember having parents though at some points she dreamed of a voice kind like her's telling her not to cry. Sapphire felt a special kind of rage and sadness towards the people that where supposed to keep her safe. Boy had they failed. She let the thought go for now and brought her focus back on Kate. Should she tell her that she had seen Stefan while on holiday? Well if she didn't tell her Stefan would, well that if he decided to tell her. They could have other things to talk about. Sapphire was looking forward her yearly talk with whom she was going to playfully tease as Mr. Headboy. She heard what Kate could play and smiled wide.

"I play the cello and the flute so that makes a good combination. I was wondering if you'd like to help me announce to the school populous that I'm not mute anymore." She said her grin truing a bit mischievous. "Over the last year I've been writing songs even though I couldn't sing them and there is one that I have been itching to sing out loud. What better way to let the school know than to sing something I wrote. There parts for the violin though and was wondering again if you would like to help. She said a bit of a spacey drag come on to her voice now as she fiddled with her fingers a bit in thought.

The locket was like a safety feature for Kate.When times had been tough during the break she would hold it and she would feel better and sometimes it would have calmed the panic attacks.It was amazing what something that was given to you by someone you love could help you so much.She wanted to give him something just as special but she couldn't think of anything that would possibly match the necklace.Maybe she would find something in the future.Kate had been surprised that Briar hadn't been made captain of the Gryffindor team.From what she had seen she had been the best Gryffindor chaser but she guessed being made Head Girl made up for it.Kate would find the fact that you had to write a speech at the end of the year quite daunting but she wouldn't mind being head girl though the chances of that were slim.

Kate's smiled widened when she heard Sapphire's idea.She was liking the sound of this.That was a really good idea and Kate would love to help "I would love to"She said smiling widely.It was a very good idea and Kate admired her bravery.It would be hard thing to do but it would be the right and good thing to do.It would definitely teach those people a lesson. "When are you planning on doing it?"She asked

Sapphire clapped her hands when she heard that Kate was up for it. "After the first day of lessons so everyone will be here. It's a little frightening but then I've played my flute around the halls sometimes for people to stop and listen so I don't see how this would be any different. I have the music here somewhere. She said looking through her bag for the note book that she had written the notes down on. Sapphire found it then handed it to Kate. "The violin part should be page three, their not a lot but still I think it sounds nice." She said a little shyly. Sapphire was trying to be as outgoing as it was possible for her to be but she couldn't help but have that slight doubt that people would laugh at her.

Though she was trying not to care so much about it. Sapphire was tired of letting words dictate was she should or shouldn't do. The Bella-Donna house hold had held nothing but rules for her and Sapphire had hated it. Now that she as free to express herself in all forms she wanted to make sure that she had the thick skin required for negetive comments. It was going to be hard but Sapphire knew that they, unlike Dympna, couldn't do anything to stop her from being herself. "The words are there too if you want to provide a second voice." She added after a moment.

Kate was looking forward to this little event.The task did seem a small bit daunting but she had sung in front of the whole school before at the Yule Ball and she knew she would be able to do it.Kate was feeling excited,she felt good that she was helping Sapphire.It felt good to be doing something normal for once.She had been doing pretty much the same thing over the holidays and nothing really exciting had happened and now it felt good to have something to work for.To get ready for.Something to take her mind off the memories of how sick she had been.She looked at the music she was given.It was a beautiful song and Kate knew it would sound lovely.the violin part was relatively easy.She would just have to practice once or twice and then she would be pretty confident playing it."This is going to be brilliant,this song is great"She said smiling.

She started humming the violin notes and rhythm.Kate would practice it tonight and she would most definitely be ready for the day after classes started.Sapphire's life must have experience so much pain and Kate thought her's was tiny in comparison.She admired Sapphire's will to survive,to not give up.She reminded her of Stefan,who had been through so much pain. "You remind me a lot like someone I know"She said,she couldn't hide the smile.It nearly always appeared when his name came from her lips. "Sure"She said flipping back the pages to the lyrics.She began to sing them. "This is going to be awesome"She said smiling.
