Noemie had finished the letter to her mother and was in the process of sending it, after all, it had taken her a few minutes to find the right owl in amongst the rest of them, and no amount of calling it out had helped find it, but that was perhaps because the owl had never liked Noemie but had always preferred her brother. It was probably really bitter about the fact that it was here with her for the time being rather than at home with him and her mother. But, the Ravenclaw knew the little owl would be happy with going home, and when Noemie told it in rapid spanish that it would be going home, the owl definitely seemed to lighten up, at this, and she was able to attach the letter with next to no issue and was giving it a little treat, since she knew that even if the little creature didn't like her, that was no reason to punish it for it, and Noemie knew that the owl would probably be happier and quicker in delivering the letter if she had given it a little something to eat before it left, which was why with it perched on the window the little letter hanging down she was feeding it a little treat and just smiling easily at it. As much as the owl didn't like her, she definitely liked the owl, and there was something so inherently nice about sitting with owl and just being able to spend some time appreciating the creature as she started her school adventure.

After coming back to Hogwarts after the Holidays, Lilyanna knew that she somehow didn't miss the place at all and had in fact missed her home whilst she was at Hogwarts more than anything. The only good thing about Hogwarts was probably one or two people that were nice to her out of the thousands that attended the school and even that still didn't give her motivation for coming, despite how important she believed education to be. She had written a letter to send off to her parents. She promised that she would tell them everything that happened from now on as often as she could and had just finished writing about how happy she was that she was no longer the youngest in the school. She folded the piece of parchment neatly into a small envelope that weighed little to nothing and carefully wrote who it was addressed to on the front. She hadn't ever sent a letter before and her sister had insisted on her using her pet owl Piglet who she had left in the owlery for her. He was small so he couldn't be that hard to handle, right?

As Lilyanna climbed the steps to top of the tower she was suddenly engulfed in the foul smell of owl droppings and her face scrunched up in disgust as her eyes scanned the place. There was a girl next to a window talking quickly to an owl in another language and Lilyanna ignored her once she found the small cage that her sister's owl was in amongst the other owls. She walked up to it cautiously, trying her best not to step in anything gross and wiped her hands on her robes before unlocking the cage so she could take Piglet out. He sniffed the air before taking a step out and almost fell onto the ground before Lilyanna shrieked and managed to catch him by his foot. With her face as hot as ever, Lilyanna put her right hand into her robes, with Piglet held firmly in her left and began to feed the owl just like Eleanor had told her. She carefully placed the letter into the bird's mouth and could feel it squirming to get away from her grasp as she walked over to the same window the girl was at to let him fly. "Go home." she told it, unsure if it would be able to understand. She let go of it and it jumped down, back into the owlery. "I said go home!" She picked it up once again and gave it a small push but it simply sat there on the window sill, looking at the girl's owl next to it. Lilyanna sighed and buried her face into her hands. Why did small creatures have to be so annoying?

Noemie was fairly surprised that the food she had given the owl really did make it just be nicer to her, usually it would've hooted and flown away by now but the book she'd been reading which had told her that she was to feed it treats and treat it nicely so it would be nice in return had without too many surprised actually been right. The girl was however surprised by it, after all the owl had always seemed to hate her, and yet now as she fed it, it was practically brushing up against her fingers to be stroked, the ravenclaw could surmise that the reason it was being like that was because of the food she was giving it but she was still a little hopeful that in fact it was because it loved her and nothing more than that, practically she knew that her wishful thinking was just that. The ravenclaw glanced away from the owl as the door the owlery opened a girl a little older than she was entered the room, it wasn't a girl she'd seen before so she could assume that the girl was not someone from her own house, and likely not from her year either.

It didn't really matter that she looked older than her, this to Noemie was not a big thing, since she knew that not all people ended up looking their age and this girl might actually be in her year, but rather than focusing on this aspect, she found herself focusing on the girl's owl, since the girl didn't seem to be dealing very well with her owl. Since Noemie had only recently been getting better with her owl, having done some reading and then implementing it, which as was obviously had worked a treat, and so the girl decided to help this other, older girl, "You'll get along better with your owl, and it'll do what you say if you give it a small treat before sending it away," The girl then reached into her pocket and fetched out another treat and then held it out to the girl, "I read it in a book that the animal will treat you better if you give it food," she informed her, with a slight tone of appearing to know better but it was really just her trying to help the other girl with her owl, like she had managed to do with her own owl thanks to what she had read.

Lilyanna knew that she was not very good with animals and the fact that Piglet was not listening to her did not surprise her one bit. He was a stupid, cheap owl anyway and was probably the dumbest out of all of them at Hogwarts. Any other owl would have easily sent away the letter by now but Lilyanna was still stuck trying to get it to listen to her let alone fly out the window to deliver it. She almost jumped when the girl next to her spoke up, this time in English. She seemed to think she knew more than Lilyanna which was slightly embarrassing. Knowing how to get an owl to listen to you was not a way of showing how intelligent you were and it made Lilyanna frustrated. "I can do it myself." Lilyanna sneered at her, giving her a dirty look before rummaging around in her pocket for her own food instead of the food the girl was offering her. She held out her hand for Piglet and he munched away on the food on the palm of her hand. Once he was done Lilyanna wiped her hand on her robes and began to stroke his feathers. "Please go home now and don't come back until you get a reply." And with that, Piglet turned around and did three little hops before jumping out and flying away. He stumbled at first with his tiny wings but managed to get himself back on track.

As she watched him fly away a sigh of relief escaped through Lilyanna's lips and she only hoped that he Piglet wasn't going to die or anything on the journey. Otherwise, Eleanor would never forgive her. "Uhh... thanks." she mumbled to the girl awkwardly, unsure if what she said had really helped at all. The owl was just being greedy and wanted more food and Lilyanna was going to give it to him anyway even without the girl's input. "It's not even my owl, I'm just borrowing it." she told her matter-of-factly. Lilyanna didn't want the girl to think that she was stupid and would blame her mishandling of the animal on Eleanor as she didn't give her enough instruction. Piglet was not Lilyanna's responsibility and she wasn't going to let the girl think that.

Noemie was hardly frustrated with the girl's tone of annoyance and forceful assurance that she could do it herself, which Noemie assumed was true, the issue was just that the girl just hadn't done it before then, but had the snack to feed it, and Noemie who was somewhat used to people talking to her like that, didn't mean she liked it, just that she was used to it. The girl just forced a smile and then looked back to her own owl and lightly stroked his feathers, not quite ready for him to leave yet and trying to not make it seemed like she'd been hurt by the girl's sneer. She did notice out of the corner of her eyes the way the owl of the other girl now far more satisfied took three small hops before flying away, and though Noemie had not enjoyed the way the girl had spoken to her but was happy the owl had flown away and once again the knowledge she'd gain from a book had helped.

What surprised Noemie was the fact that the girl suddenly muttered an a thanks and Noemie looked at her and gave a small shrug accompanied with a slightly nervous smile, the part-veela wasn't quite sure about if this girl was just saying that to mock her or if she actually meant it. Noemie didn't think she'd ever find out and so decided that she didn't want to know, or didn't care about finding out and instead just focused on the thing the girl then added, "This owl is my family's owl, he much prefers my brother," she said before turning to the owl and telling it softly in spanish to fly away, and it did so, "It doesn't like me much, but the food helps it bite me less," the girl admitted with a shrug of her shoulders, as if implying that they were pretty much in the same boat when it came to owl, she didn't want to annoy the girl but she really wanted to make her understand that she hadn't meant to annoy her or frustrate the other girl, just that's she'd read it in a book and it worked with her owl, so it would help with this girls, and it had, "Owls really like food, so it's not a surprise that giving it a snack makes it behave better,"

Lilyanna's eyes wandered around the room as the girl explained that her owl much preferred her brother than her. In all honesty, Lilyanna didn't really care and had the urge to walk away from her and go off and continue her day. Instead, she continued to stand there as she spoke knowing that it would be rude if she just walked away when the girl clearly was trying to make conversation with her. Lilyanna wasn't much of a conversationalist and it wasn't until the girl spoke in another language again to her owl that she spoke. "Does your owl only understand that language or something? I feel like animals don't understand any words at all sometimes." she told her coldly with a roll of her eyes. She leant against the edge of the window and folded her arms, clearly still frustrated with herself and the whole situation in general. If Piglet didn't come back by tomorrow with a reply then it was possible that he could have died and she didn't want to have to tell Eleanor that her first pet had died and it was all her fault. Merlin forbid she ever use that owl again.

Sorry it isn't very long :(

Noemie had never considered that the creature, the little owl that she had couldn't understand her, the young Ravenclaw smiled at her though and shrugged, "We got him in Spain, seemed only natural to talk to him in Spanish" the girl shrugged slightly at her, not sure if that was what she meant when she had asked the question, the owl maybe understood the English but it was a force of habit to speak to the owl in Spanish, and she just shrugged, "I think he understands at least a little bit, owls are exceedingly smart," Noemie shrugged, a little thinking about it knowing that the owls of the magical world were far smarter than most thought. Noemie had always read that while not on the same path of intelligence as they as humans were it didn't mean they weren't capable of following commands, "I mean how else can the creatures understand where they need to go," Noemie reasoned out loud clearing indicating in her tone that wouldn't have minded a second opinion and since it was this girl who had got her on to the subject in her head she assumed that this girl knew a little bit about it possibly to prove Noemie wrong, which she wasn't often but enjoyed when her opinion was challenged by someone else and if she was learning something new in the young Ravenclaw's mind that meant everything was all good. She definitely had no issues with.
