Ellie wandered out of the castle, her acoustic guitar in one hand, Jade, her fairie, flying at her shoulder. She headed towards the Quidditch Pitch, although she wasn't planning to fly today. She had been tidying up her dorm room the night before, and had found her guitar in the back of her wardrobe. She hadn't played it in ages, and was now in the mood to. She felt bad, her Grandad had spent nearly the whole summer before teaching her how to play and she didn't want him to have wasted his time. She actually really loved playing.
Her hair was hanging loosely in it's natural curls and she was wearing a pair of plain jeans, a baggy navy jumper and her comfiest trainers. She hadn't been bothering with her appearance at all the last few weeks, ditto with her make-up. She had completely given up with that, she just couldn't be bothered with it, and although she would disagree, she didn't need it! As she arrived at the pitch, she looked up at the sky. As far as she could see, there was nobody flying there. It was a dull day, quite chilly. She really should have flung on a jacket, but she had come to like the cold.
Sitting down, she bent one leg in and streched the other out, watching Jade hover above the grass. Letting her guitar rest upon her legs, she supported it at the neck with her left hand and brought her fingers round on to the strings. Strumming a few chords she smiled gently, she loved the sound of it and had tuned it perfectly before she had left the Common Room. Letting her fingers drop down the strings one by one, she thought of which song to play. She didn't have to think long, for one popped into her head straight away. Kiss the Rain. It was a soft, gentle song and it was the first one she had played after her Grandad had taught her how to play. Her Granny had often played it on Piano. She began to play it, getting more into it after every chord until it was the only thing she could hear and feel. It was just her and her guitar. She was lost in the music and although things hadn't been going to well for her lately, she couldn't be more at ease with the world.
