Just Outside the Castle

Katalina took one last look in the mirror, making sure that what little bit of makeup she had on looked perfect and that every hair was in place. She had spent hours getting ready for the ball and was more nervous than she'd ever been before. She was careful as she climbed through the port hole of Gryffindor house and went downstairs in heels. When she hit the landing of the first floor, just outside the Great Hall she took a peak inside. Everything looked absolutely beautiful as always. The butterflies starting dancing again in Kat's stomach as she walked outside through the giant wooden doors. It was very chilly out tonight and she was grateful that she had a sweater with her as she wrapped herself up and waited for Nic to arrive.

Nic walked up to the castle, looking for his date for the evening. He was curious as to what she would be wearing, hoping that she was going to be a stunner like he thought. He had found a bunch of daisies on the grounds, and hoped that she would be happy with them. Soon he saw the girl he was looking for, and smiled. She was just as pretty as he had hoped. Too bad she was not going to be a permanent fixture in his life. If she was, he would never win the bet. He put on his best smile, and walked up to her, flowers behind his back.
When he approached, she had her back to him. He walked up to her and put his arms around her, holding the flowers in front of her.

"Hello gorgeous!"

Kat felt the warmth of someone around her and then she heard him speak to her. Her heart practically jumped out of her chest it was beating so fast and her stomach was doing cartwheels. She took the flowers from him and inhaled their sweet fragrance. Daisies were her absolute favorite flower, but there was no way he could have known that. Kat's face flushed bright pink as she turned to look Nic in the face and said to him with a shy smile, "Hi! My, my...don't you look dashing this evening."

Nic flashed one of his winning smiles at her, then slipped next to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Thanks. Shall we go in?"

"Of course." she said with a smile as they walked back into the castle.
