With exams over, it was the perfect time to wander the corridors. No homework, no review. Just free afternoon. With this in mind, Alexis strolled down the fourth corridor aimlessly. She was half-hoping to bump into Nixon and check how well he did in his exams. Turning around another corner, she didn't notice that there was another person coming toward her. It was at the last minute that she noticed and she stepped aside in reflex. "Oops," she said with a small laugh as she looked at the face of the person. "Oh, Jocelyn. Hello.",she greeted her Gryffindor classmate.

"Oh!" Jocelynn said as she turned a corner and bumped into someone of similar size to herself. Looking she saw it was Alexis Kramer a Ravenclaw in her year that she had met out in the forbidden forest. "Hey there! How goes it?" Jocelynn asked as she made sure neither of them dropped anything on the floor. After picking up her pencil she straightened back up and gave a smile to Alexis. She didn't really know much about the girl but she did know from Nixon she was pretty friendly and one of his friends. She wondered if they would become friends or not during the years at school, she figured they would be as Jocelynn never really disliked others, only very quiet people seemed to not like herself however. "Did you finish exams well? Are you planning on going to the Yule Ball later this week? I am, Liam Waldgrave, I'm sure you've seen him around, asked me to go with him so I said I would. He seems like a nice guy, very interested in making friends with girls....I wonder, why. Well, I opted for a shorter dress this year, I know most girls wear long dresses but it's summer here and I'd rather be stuck in a long dress inside on a summer night, ya know?" Jocelynn rambled on not realizing she did so, it was the thing quieter people didn't like about her.

Alexis laughed as she, herself, also checked if they dropped anything. She found Jocelyn friendly and kind. They shared the same classes and the girl also knew her friends, Nixon and Patrick. In fact, they first met in the Forbidden Forest. She smiled at Jocelyn when the Gryffindor asked her about her exams. She was about to reply to her when she immediately rambled on about Yule Ball, dates, and dresses. Alexis was aware of Jocelyn's rambling but this was the first time to witness it firsthand. She found it endearing, though. When Jocelyn finally finished talking, she laughed as she put a hand on her arm. "Calm down, Jocelynn. And to answer your questions in a particular order: Yes, I finished my exams well. Yes, I am going to Yule Ball. Yes, I know Liam Waldgrave. He looked friendly though I haven't met him personally yet.", she paused for a breath. "I am still considering my choices on a dress. I got two from my mom from yesterday's owl post." She breathed a relief. Alexis would really love to have Jocelynn as her friend.

Jocelynn was glad to have this chance to talk to someone other than the girls in her dorm. She often wondered what the other common rooms were like and wished she was allowed to see them. She didn't really understand why they were sorted off into groups. Surely it was meant that she'd get along better with the people inside her own house, but so far the nicest friends she was making were in all the other houses. It seemed like an old tradition she didn't really understand that the school held on to. She was surprised Alexis hadn't actually met Liam yet, he seemed to know everyone, especially the girls. She thought he might not know Nixon either, but she couldn't be sure about that. She'd have to find a time for all them to meet and become friends as well. "Oh two options! That sounds really nice! I only brought one dress with him to school so I just opted for that instead of making one of the owls bring me one from home. Well, my owl my mum gave me to have here wouldn't be able to carry much. He is a small thing really and doesn't fly very well. I think Nixon might have used him to send a letter home anyways," she said saying more than really needed to be said. She had heard Alexis telling her to calm down and she did feel rather calm so she hadn't been too sure what the girl meant, but she thought maybe she was talking too much. Jocelynn was going to try to keep her rambling on one subject for now. "I guess it's a good things the dress is red to, goes along with my house, but I hadn't known much about the houses before coming here really. So you don't have a date then? You should try to ask Nixon or Pat, if you wanted one. But I don't think it's required and you can always dance with all you friends even if you have a date I think. It's not like having a date means you're tied to them for the evening, I hope. And is it wrong to have a date when I'm not really that interested in boys? I mean, I want to date boys when I'm older, but not right now, older boys are much more attractive and don't smell as funny, I think it has something to do with age. I don't think I'll really want to date anyone till I'm at least 14 or 15," she said pausing as she knew she was starting to venture away from the Yule Ball topic. She smiled towards Alexis letting the girl cut in.
