Katheryn walked down the stairs to the Great Hall. She hadn't attended one of the Yule Balls since her very first year. She was excited to be going tonight. Katheryn grinned as she walked into a decked out Great Hall. It was simply beautiful. She hadn't remembered it being this amazing during her first year. Part of that might have been that she was young and not able to fully appreciate the work the staff had done on the room.

Kat stood by the door as she waited on her date. It had been a bit of a surprise to be asked but she was very pleased none the less. As she waited for the Gryffindor, her eyes scanned the room, looking for people she knew.

Heading to the Yule Ball hadn't been a plan for Rukevra until he had met Patricia. Their dance at the Halloween ball sealed a promise of a dance at the Yule ball. Rukevra wouldn't break a promise, even if the pair where not on speaking terms. Although the dance would be a cold one, a promise would be kept.

To begin with however, the Durmstrang transfer had found a partner for the night. Another Hufflepuff. A small thought flashed across the back of his mind. With all of the issues in his life; all of the problems he had created for others; all the hurt; how could this young boy be a Gryffindor. Shaking the thought away, Rukevra continued to dress. Wearing a dark pair of dress trousers, the young boy would always look smart at any event; either formal or other-wise. Straightening his long sleeved shirt, Rukevra placed the accompanying tie around his neck; allowing it to hang open for the time being. The evening wasn't something new to Rukevra. Formal dances used to be an every-week occurrence before moving to Durmstrang.

Placing his feet into polished black shoes, Rukevra sat upon his bed for a few moments. The laces of his shoes yet to be tied. Fenton was in his own corner of the room, attempting to make himself look smart too. Rolling his eyes as the older student flexed his muscles, Rukevra pulled his feet towards him; and fastened his shoe laces, before sliding from the double bed; grabbing his pressed black jacket; and heading for the Great Hall.

Arriving at the hall, Rukevra spotted numerous couples, and a large number of singles, make their way through the large doors. Fastening his still loose tie, the young transfer stepped through the doors himself; his eyes passing from person to person, in search of his date for the night.

Katheryn's blue eyes scanned the crowd entering the hall until she spotted Rukevra. She had only met him the previous week but he seemed to be a nice enough guy. Katheryn's red curls were pinned up on top of her head but threatened to fall as she was pushed through the crowd. She flashed him a dazzling smile as she made her way to him. "Well don't you look dashing?" she complimented. He really did look magnificent.

Walking further into the hall a few feet, Rukevra turned his head slightly and caught sight of Katheryn making her way toward him. Her smile caused any anxiety about Patricia to fade away. Rukevra listened to the girls comment, and allowed his eyes to fall up-on her dress. She looked truly fantastic. Making sure his tie was fastened correctly, the young Gryffindor responded. "Thank-you.". Rukevra gave a soft smile. "You look truly wonderful.".

Katheryn smiled shyly at the boy as he complimented the way she looked. "Thank you." she said. Katheryn looked around the room. She spotted her sister dancing with Alex Cullen. It was clear to Kat that she hadn't broken the news to him yet. At least the pair looked like they were enjoying each other's company. Katheryn smiled as she turned back to her date. "Would you like to dance?" she asked. Katheryn loved dancing. She had started lessons when she was three. Dancing was one of her favorite things in the world.

With tonight's event being his first school dance, Rukevra wasn't sure of the process of the evening. Spotting the tables around the edge of the room, the young fifth year felt slightly hungry. He hadn't eaten for some time. Catching the words of his date, the transfer smiled and nodded. "I would love a dance.". Holding up his arm, Rukevra awaited the girls own; before leading her onto the floor.
