Sandie made her way through the large oak doors and into the Great Hall. Until the night before she had been un-sure as to wether she would attend the Yule Ball, but she didn't have anything else to do and pretty much everyone was going to be there, so it would be a chance for her to meet some new people.
The place was gorgouse, all done up for the event! There were floating snowflakes, icicles, a large dance floor and lots of small, round tables placed around the outside of the dance floor! There weren't many people there yet, and Sandie wished she'd been a little later. She was the only person there without a date, so far. She hoped more people would turn up alone.
Making her way over to the drinks table, she pored herself a goblet of what looked like pumpkin juice and stared up at ceiling. Tonight, there were a bunch of clouds up there. Sandie smiled, everything was so christmasy! She loved Christmas, it was her favorite time of year. She just wished it would actually snow for real. Even some cold weather would be suffice, but it was mid-summer in New Zealand and the days were blazing hot!
Taking a sip of her juice, Sandie realised it was infact pumpkin juice, and her bright gray eyes scanned the dancing couples on the dance floor. All the boys were in fancy suits, and the girls in pretty dresses. Sandie wished she'd have gotten something a little, well, fancier! She'd bought a black strapless dress, with white stripes around the top. She wore a pair of high black heels on her feet, which she'd had to practice walking in! She hadn't done anything very fancy with her hair either. She'd simply left it down, straight, and plaited a fishtail into the front of it. No time to change, now, she told herself as the hall began to fill up a little more.
Finishing the rest of her juice in the one go, Sandie looked around for something to do, so she wouldn't look stupid standing around alone.
