Start of a new year, what relief did it bring to Bernard as he settled down in Beauxbatons dining hall. The hall was filled with students arriving and meeting up with their friends from previous years. Smiles dominated the facial expression of students with the rare few who showed signs of displeasure in returning. For Bernard, returning was a relief, a relief from the pain and memories that his family home in Bordeaux brought. After two years, he still couldn't contain his emotions over the death of his father when he was home. Beauxbatons became his refuge throughout the year and he had sincerely considered buying some place to spend his summers with his younger sister but he doubted his mother would be happy or even approve of such an event and so the thought moved to the back of his head as he sat down at a table that was vacant.

Bernard opened his school bag as he scavenged through his bag to find the letters written by his family. It had become tradition ever since his first year in Beauxbatons, his family would each write a letter and give it to him to read once arrived at the school. His mother and older sisters letter were always entertaining as they were held out on the actual reason or school he was attending. He opened his mother letter as he started reading it as he waited on someone he knew to show up in the dining hall. It wouldn't be long, this was the start of his sixth year, faces he had seen and people he had befriended. It was simply a matter of minutes at most before he saw a familiar face appear in the dining hall as he read his letter, glancing at the entrance at times to see if he would recognize a friend of his.

Praneil had just arrived back to school for the start of the year. it was his sixth year so he knew where his friends would be. once he had taken his bags up to the dormitory, he headed down to the dining hall and saw Bernard like he suspected "Hello Bernard, did you have a good holiday?" he asked. his holiday had been interesting, his family had told him about their plans for him and his friends sister Tara. but he want going to tell anyone what had happened, as what happens in india stayed in india, the same way what happens in france stays in france. he looked and realised that the boy was reading the letters he got every year from his family, "anything interesting in the letters? he asked sitting down and taking a goblet of juice.

As he focused back his attention on his mother letter, he was as soon taken away by the familiar voice of his friend Praneil. It was always good having his friend’s presence around him. Made him forget about his time back home and vacations, as strange as it sounded his true vacations were here in the school. These halls brought him so much comfort and hanging around with friends made it even better. He settled his mother letter down before responding to Praneil. “Holidays were as fantastic as they could have been, pretty much happier being back here though.” He finished his sentence as Praneil asked about the letters in front of him. The actual content was between him and his family, Praneil had no business knowing what was being said. “The classic, we love you son, have a good year and see ya next vacation type of letter.” He responded with a smile at Praneil as his voice had a joking tone to it.

He closed his letters before placing them back in his pockets. “What about you Praneil? How were your vacations? Flirted with any good girls?” He laughed a little as he looked at Praneil. Bernard wasn’t an idiot; he knew Praneil was a flirter with girls, far better than he was with women.

Praneil was glad that his friends holidays had been pretty good, the bot didint need any more problems, but like a suprising amount of the studnets praneil himself if truth be told, he said he was glad to be back. "glad your break was good." he said before realising that the letter probably was personal and he shouldn't have asked what was in there, thankfully bernard didn't say much of the contents. "same old, same old. they really should think of something else to write" he said knowing full well that there was probably much more in the letter but he just brushed it off lightly.
Thankfully the topic then turned to him. "My vacation was pretty interesting, but there was really only one girl who i flirted with, as things are different in india, so i'm glad to be back as i prefer the french culture much more." she said winking slightly as he finished. he didn't quite want to share what had happened over his holidays yet with anyone, as he didn't want it to travel around the school.
