Start of a new year, what relief did it bring to Bernard as he settled down in Beauxbatons dining hall. The hall was filled with students arriving and meeting up with their friends from previous years. Smiles dominated the facial expression of students with the rare few who showed signs of displeasure in returning. For Bernard, returning was a relief, a relief from the pain and memories that his family home in Bordeaux brought. After two years, he still couldn't contain his emotions over the death of his father when he was home. Beauxbatons became his refuge throughout the year and he had sincerely considered buying some place to spend his summers with his younger sister but he doubted his mother would be happy or even approve of such an event and so the thought moved to the back of his head as he sat down at a table that was vacant.
Bernard opened his school bag as he scavenged through his bag to find the letters written by his family. It had become tradition ever since his first year in Beauxbatons, his family would each write a letter and give it to him to read once arrived at the school. His mother and older sisters letter were always entertaining as they were held out on the actual reason or school he was attending. He opened his mother letter as he started reading it as he waited on someone he knew to show up in the dining hall. It wouldn't be long, this was the start of his sixth year, faces he had seen and people he had befriended. It was simply a matter of minutes at most before he saw a familiar face appear in the dining hall as he read his letter, glancing at the entrance at times to see if he would recognize a friend of his.
