Artemis Jackson had nothing to do that gloomy morning. Instead of going back to her common room, she decided to check out the library. Besides, she hasn't been to the library ever since her first entrance at Hogwarts. Artemis shrugged and walked towards the library.

Upon entering, she checked her surroundings. The library wasn't really packed with people- which, was a good thing for the young Slytherin. Artemis didn't liked packed spaces. It made her feel uncomfortable. She walked towards a shelf of books about Quidditch. The youth smiled. She loved Quidditch. Artemis didn't really understand why others didn't like the sport. It's fun cheering for your favorite team while they're winning. Artemis smiled at the thought and began to read.

The book was very interesting. It had some tips and techniques so that you could fly with ease. Artemis put the book back on the shelf. She searched outside the library for some people she knew. Unfortunately, no one was there to be found. "Where are the others?" The young Slytherin thought. Artemis frowned at her observation. She was used to go around Hogwarts with some of her friends. But, now, it seemed that the others vanished into thin air.

Artemis sighed at this. "Well, at least this could give me an opportunity too meet others."

Reluctantly Oliver had dragged himself out of bed that morning, the gleaming sunlight piercing the through the windows of his dormitory. His first thought of the day was the heavy load of homework that was sitting in his bag at the foot of his bed. Oliver poured himself a glass of water from the jug and looked around the empty dorm as he held the glass to his lips and drank. He had no plans for the day. Once he was fully awake and his eyes had adjusted to the bright light of the dorm he pulled off his pjs and dressed into a pair of jeans and a dark blue t-shirt and slipped his rope over the top.

The common room was quiet but Oliver didn't stop to enjoy such a rarity. He was in such a rush to leave to Ravenclaw tower that he was still slinging his backpack over his shoulders when he left the common room. He headed down to the library, the only place he could think off to go when his homework had reached the level that it had. As he entered the library he had already pulled out his text book as he looked around for somewhere to sit. Apparently every other student in Hogwarts had thought as he did because the library was very busy. He sighed, defeated until he saw a young girl leaving her table. She was alone and he saw her leave the library and look around for someone to meet up with. Oliver looked from the empty to table the girl and sighed. He could do his homework that night. "Hey," He said as he dropped his book back into his bag and approached the girl. "Looking for someone?" He asked.

It was really silent in the library, even though more people came to fill it in. Students were studying, some were just gossiping at the corners, about rubbish topics. Artemis shot them an annoyed look, since their whispers could be heard. The group of girls just ignored her and continued their topic talking fast and excitedly. Someone should really shut them up. Sure enough, the librarian told them to stay silent since their whispers were slightly irritating to the others. Artemis smirked at them, while they went out like a pack of wolves.

Studying wasn't really Arty's priority for the library. She wanted to be entertained by the books around her. There were almost a hundred of books around her, waiting to be read by the others. Every time she had time to read, she would happy already. The book that she read about Quidditch was getting boring already, since Artemis knew what it was talking about. She was on the 36th page, and she gave up. She stood up and put it back on the shelf. Couldn't there any other books here that are interesting? Sometime later, a boy approached her. Artemis's turned her head to face his direction calmly with a bored expression on her pale face framed with blonde hair.
"Probably company. Did you come to study here?" She drawled. He could be here for studying or maybe for entertainment from books, just like what Artemis wants.

OOCOut of Character:
Sorry for the late reply. Seems like I lost track of my posts. ^_^

Oliver hadn't put any thought into what he might say to the girl past the initial 'hello'. To be perfectly honest once he noticed the silver and green serpent on her chest he was a little surprised when she replied to his greeting. Nevertheless she did in fact reply, Oliver didn't really know what to say after this and was glad when the girl offered him a point of conversation in which they could build around. "I came here to study but the library had become a place for gossip rather than study so working isn't really an option anymore it would seem, what about you? What brings you to the library?" He asked wondering how long they would continue to stand outside the library before one of them suggested that they move.

Her lips curled upward to form a smirk. She knew that the boy was surprised with her response. Some Slytherins would just ignore these people and sneer then walk away. Not all Slytherins were mean, in fact Artemis knew a lot of people who were friendly that came from the Slytherin House. That was, including herself. She wasn't hostile like the others. But, she didn't really look that way towards the badgers. Even though they were friendly, the Slytherin thought that they were quite boring.

Looking at his robes was her first move. Then the next was to reply. The badge that he was wearing came from the Ravenclaws. She squinted as if to say that she understood.
"It's kinda boring in our common room. So I went here to read silently. Seems like it is indeed a place for gossiping already." The pair seemed to be blocking other people's way. So she walked to a corner for them to talk. "Are you a 2nd year? I haven't seen you around in the castle." She stated truthfully. The boy seemed to be a bit older than her and Artemis was almost sure that she didn't see him in the sorting ceremony together with her batch.

Oliver nodded, "I haven't seen you around the castle either," He said knowing full well he'd remember. "Yeah I am a second year, Ravenclaw as you can probably tell," He followed her away from the doorway to the corner so that they could talk without getting in peoples way. "The library had really slipped in standard, I don't think the libraian can be bothered to keep people quiet anymore, groups from different houses just meet up and talk about god only knows what, I don't know why they can't go outside. It's New Zealand I mean its not exactly cold out there is it?" He said, it wasn't really a question. Everyone knew how warm New Zealand was, the country was internationally renowned for it and Oliver loved it.

Instead of replying to the Ravenclaw, Artemis smiled awkwardly. She did not really make a big effort with observing the others, and she sure will observe more. It was a good thing that the subject changed to their years at Hogwarts. "So that explains it. I'm a first year by the way. Slytherin." She said motioning her head to her robes exposing the Slytherin crest. They went into a corner to continue their conversation. Otherwise, people would have given them irritated glances since they were in the middle of the hallway. Artemis tucked a blonde strand behind her ear that was threatening to block her view.

Once they were in the corner, Artemis looked again at the boy. Listening to his reply, she chuckled at his statement. True that the library was filled with gossips in the atmosphere. The silence was being used by the students for an advantage for their secrets. "I guess they're using it to take advantage of the silence." Artemis guessed. She realized that she was conversing with this boy without even knowing his name. Artemis extended her hand and introduced herself. "I'm Artemis by the way. Artemis Jackson." She smiled.

Oliver realised that the two of them didn't know each others names as they continued their conversation in the corner of the hall. "I'm Oliver, Oliver Halliwell," He said taking her hand and shaking it. "I don't see how silence attracts conversations, there's more chance of them being overheard in the library and no one wants that," Oliver had never had the urge to have a private conversation in the library, then again he didn't have a lot of people to have a private conversation with. "Nice to meet you by the way," He added sliding his hands into his pockets.

While shaking the hand of the boy, Artemis replaced her bored features with a smiling one. She always did this to make their first impression fine. Every time she met a person, she wasn't the shy type when it came to conversations. In fact, she was eager to get to know this boy. With him being a Ravenclaw, she thought that he might have top grades in their exams compared with her own which was only E and A.

It only took a second for Artemis to notice that they were talking very close to the library. A few steps away, she would be able to enter the library once more.
"Yes. It's slightly irritating don't you think?" Artemis said. "Yeah. Nice meeting you too. So Oliver, do you also love reading books?" She questioned, since she found him in the library.

Oliver noticed that they were still very close to the library and he could still hear the muttering of the students inside. He peered through the doorway to see groups of students coming in and out huddled together discussing various tidbits. He turned back to Artemis and saw her previously bored expression lift into a smile and Oliver was relieved. For a period he thought he was boring his Slytherin companion. Artemis was not the first Slytherin he had befriended. "Yeah I do think its irritating, I mean its a library is it not," He said keeping his voice to a low volume due to them being close to the library. "As a matter of fact I do love reading, I gotta keep my Ravenclaw standard grades up some how," He said beaming.

Wondering why the boy was relieved, Artemis cocked her head to the side. "Are you alright?" She asked slowly. Was he waiting for someone to come? Or maybe there was a detention waiting for him and he figured a plan to escape it. The whole conversation was getting longer and Artemis was glad about this. At least it wasn't boring and awkward like the previous ones that she experienced with other students.

It was a good thing that Oliver agreed with her for Artemis grinned. "I know right. They really should read the rules." She suggested. Don't they even know that the place that they were currently in was a library? Arty doubted that. The grin on Artemis's features went wide when Oliver revealed that he liked books. "Of course. You Ravenclaws really care about your grades. I read books, but I didn't inherit the brains of the family." Artemis said in a quiet tone since they were near the library.

Arty had noticed his relieved expression and Oliver didn't know what to say, "I err, I'm fine yeah." He said grinning. Oliver nodded in agreement as Artemis suggested that the students in the library read the rules about its conduct. "Guess some people just don't care," He suggested still peering into the library. Artemis then turned the conversation to Oliver's grades and how he must care, "Its not that I care its that I need to keep up the appearance of a Ravenclaw or else I'll be snubbed by my fellows and that would just make living with those people almost unbearable," He added. He may have been exagerating a little but a lot of Ravenclaws would have something to say if people in Ravenclaw didn't maintain decent grades.

Artemis couldn't help not to hide the look on her face; concern. She took a really small step forward to observe him more. "You sure?" Artemis said with a concerned look on her pale features. The boy looked fine, but seems like his mind was a million miles away. Probably not millions, but billions. Not really like daydreaming but something like wondering about something, far away.

When the Ravenclaw replied, she immediately agreed with him by chuckling softly. People really should know that this place was a library. You know, the one where they read and stay silent whenever they're in it? Don't they even know that?
"I guess so." She said with a tiny shrug. Students these days don't really mind if they make noise. But I guess that's to show their fun between themselves Artemis thought. "Snubbed? Ouch. That would really be unbearable. You Ravenclaws really care about your studies, don't you?" She said, almost laughing.
