Scorpius had not missed Pandora's wince as he said her nickname, the tell tale sign that he had messed up badly. It was not the first time he had messed things up in a relationship. in fact every single relationship he'd had always ended badly. Scorpius used to think he just had unfortunate luck when it came to girls but now he realized he had always been the one to mess things up. He should've known better by now, learned his lesson, but well, as the old saying went, old habits die hard. Scorpius felt that if he had kept in contact with his friends after graduation they would've been able to help him with his situation with Panda, but he figured if he had made a better effort to keep in contact overall he wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.
Scorpius sighed and tentatively took a seat with Pandora, knowing she was angry at him but laid out his arm for her to take. He figured she was only helping him because she felt an obligation as a Healer, not because it was him. He couldn't help but notice how close they were to each other and could easily remember the first time he ever saw her as if it were yesterday. One minute he had been up in the air on his broomstick, Beater's bat in hand, protecting his teammates - the next thing he knew, he was on the ground in immense pain and the first thing he saw when he opened his eyes was Pandora hunched over him, muttering what he could only guess were Healing charms. He hadn't stayed conscious for long though, just long enough to see the beautiful girl who'd saved his life, before his eyelids had shut closed again.
Scorpius couldn't help but smile at the memory, remembering also when he'd woken up at St. Mungo's to the same sight. Now however, as his silver eyes locked into Panda's brown eyes, he could see pain; she had been hurt. He winced slightly, ashamed at himself, especially because the Healer before him was expecting a good reason for blowing her off but Scorpius had nothing to offer but a poor excuse. "I, uh-" he said without really thinking, before closing his mouth and looking away from her in defeat. What was he possibly going to tell her that was okay?
He couldn't help but look up at her, in this close proximity he was able to take in more details of her face. He could see the the golden hues of her eyes shining, the way her lashes seemed to curl up to perfection naturally, the way she seemed to have laugh lines as if she smiled frequently. Maybe she was better off this way, without him? Maybe he was no good for her? After all, it had always been him to mess up his relationships in the past. He didn't want to hurt her further by dragging this on and then hurting her in the end. Still though, as his silver eyes scanned her face, taking in the exact shape of her lips, Scorpius couldn't help himself. Maybe he could make this work? He was older now, maybe now was the time to start learning from his mistakes? If he was going to try and make this work he owed her an explanation.
The first words that came out of his mouth next surprised him, but he had known it was what she deserved to hear most of all. "I'm sorry Pandora." He took a deep breath, not sure what he was going to say next but he continued nonetheless. "I'm sorry for..blowing you off and not keeping in contact. School got really busy and as soon as I graduated, the doctor had given me the okay to play Quidditch again so I went back into training nonstop," he said truthfully. Still though, he knew if he really cared he would've found some time to reply to her owls. Not knowing what else to say, he tore his eyes away from her and looked down at his arm, and just to keep his hands busy, pulled out a piece of glass from his arm, causing lots of blood to trickle out of the wound quickly.
