Matthew had finally decided that going home was the best thing to do after spending the first few weeks of the holidays hauled up in the leaky cauldron and taking excursions into Bleak street. Meeting Chaos had been unexpected and frankly he wish he hadn't. He now felt worse about everything that had happened with Alana having a better understanding about the man she was going to marry one day. It was important that Matthew was able to put everything that happened the previous year behind him so he could focus on his final year and achieve something. That would be harder than expected of course, he had said something to Alana that he couldn't take back.
The street of Obsidian harbour was filled with excited would be first years buying their school supplies for the first time and Matthew felt himself feeling envious of them. They had their whole Hogwarts experience in front of them, they hadn't done anything stupid yet or been in an inappropriate relationship yet. He found himself smiling for the first time that winter as he found himself wondering which of these kids would do something spectacularly student during their first year, well they couldn't be as worse as the crop of first years from the previous year. He would never know how Gryffindor still managed to win the house cup with some of the trouble makers they had in their ranks. Matthew found himself popping into a cafe just to the side of the ice cream parlour and bought himself a coffee and sat at one of the tables outside while he looked on at the shoppers.
