"Amanra, we've been sending letters for some time, and i'd really l-l... Dammit." Ademar had spent much of the reception in the bathroom, trying very hard to write his words down. The paper he had brougt to help him ask Amanra to court was crinkled and in the trash, and he had started over, for the eighth time. Why was he so nervous. They had been sending letters back and fourth, he even had her latest one in his pocket, which smelled of her perfume. Call Ademar old fashioned, but he really felt he needed to do this right. He'd even gotten her a courting ring. It was the one that his mother had given to him for when the time was right, and that time was now. Ademar knew it. He held the ruby ring in his hand, the color of love was red, so he thought it appropriate. He only hoped that she liked it as well.
After scribbling a few more things down, Ademar headed out. It was now or never. He looked around the room where people were dancing, drinking, just having a blast. Ademar couldn't say he was having fun, as his palms were clammy, and he felt out of place. He tightened his tie while walking around the room before finding Amanra, in the stunning blue dress that complimented her so well. His stomach was twinging, though he hadn't eaten all day, so he was sure that it couldn't be that. "Amanra, may I speak with you in the courtyard?" He asked, mainly meaning outside. Wen she agreed he lead her out, now feeling some sweat in his palms.
The night air was chilly, and Ademar had already started to remove his suit coat in case she asked for it. Spring still held a nip in the air as he offered it to her, the ring in his pants pocket, in a little oak box. "Amanra, i uh. I know it's been a while that we've. WAit no." Ademar fumbled for his paper and put on a pair of reading glasses, which he'd only needed recently. "I know that we've been writing for a long time, and I've grown to love your letters." He paused. This was stupid. He crumpled up the paper and took her wrist, kissing her on the cheek. "Amanra Kaster, if you would give me the pleasure, I would like to begin courting you." He then brought out the ring, which was to go on the right ring finger, instead of the left as an engagement ring does. He could only hope she said yes.
