Serenity Dion was not the type of girl to stay in one place for long The only thing she could do that involved her having to remain focused was learning a new dance routine but most of the time she was still dancing and trying to mimic the teachers movements. She figured she would be able to make it through classes well enough as long as she remembered to stay focused and not let her mind run off somewhere in day dreamland. She hoped that the classes would be interesting enough for her to be able to keep her attention and focus because she was really excited to start classes and learning all the magic stuff that she had grown up seeing her mother, Mr and Mrs Jones do and then once she had finished school, Amelia.

It was lunch time and Serenity couldn't wait to get stuck into the amazing food that was prepared for the students in this school. She had missed breakfast so she was particularly hungry right now so she left before the majority of the Ravenclaw house made their way to the Great Hall. The hallways and staircases were relatively empty on her journey from the Ravenclaw tower down to the Great Hall. Serenity preferred travelling the halls when there were more people, as so far she had been extremely unlucky when it came to the staircases and more often than not they liked to move when she was on them and she always seemed to get lost. It was no secret that Serenity didn't have a great sense of direction so when the staircases moved on her she got lost really easily.

It was almost like the staircases knew it was her and were purposefully moving on her just to throw her off and make her even more hungry. Then like clockwork on the staircase between the fourth and third floor, the staircases jolted, making Serenity jump ever so slightly and began to move again. Holding on to the banister she looked down, she hated looking down to the bottom floor as it was so high up and Serenity wouldn't normally be afraid of heights but these constantly moving stairs just made it worse for her. Finally when they stopped Serenity saw the only other person on the staircase. Thank Merlin! she thought. The last few times she got stuck on the staircases she was on her own, hopefully this person had a better sense of direction than her. "Sorry. Hi. Do you know where we are and how to get down to the Great Hall?" she asked the girl, her voice ever calm. She figured she sounded almost silly asking but she hadn't explored much of the school yet so how was she to know where she was.

Zinaida was trying her best to avoid her brother and his friends today. If Vladimir was alone Zinaida would probably go up and talk to him, he was still her twin so she did feel a strong connection to him. But his little lackeys that he always hung out with were far from being tolerable. Blaine was a complete instigator who seemed to go looking for trouble wherever he could find it, and he dragged Vladimir right along with him. Pandora on the other hand was nothing more than a straight up b*tch. It was pretty obvious that the only reason she was nice to Zinaida was because she was Vladimir's sister. But the snotty looks and the cruel words she muttered when he wasn't around needed to go. Zin did't appreciate being called a blood traitor or a cream puff. If she kept it up Zinaida wouldn't feel bad about slugging her a good one. Sweet as she usually was, she was still a Zhefarovich by blood. Zinaida found herself walking up a set of stairs, very intent inspecting the small box of fairy dust that she ha purchased some months ago. Zinaida had no idea what the stuff did, but she was bored so she figured she might as well give it a try. Sometimes, Zinaida spaced out when she was walking, and had a habit of not paying attention where she was going. The castle was still very new to Zinaida so she knew she shouldn't be doing that.

A soft voice brought Zinaida back to reality. The red-head turned towards the owner of that voice and smiled softly. Someone was asking her how to get to the Great Hall from here. That was an easy one! "I sure do! You just...um....hm. Where a I?" Zinaida asked. She had been so busy inspecting the box of fairy dust that she hadn't paid much attention to where she was walking. So she actually had no idea where she was actually at. Many parts of the castle looked the same to her, so Zinaida tried to use landmarks to help her find where she needed to go. "How about this, if you can tell me where I am at right now, I will totally help you find the Great Hall!" Zinaida offered. The girl had asked if she knew where they were too, but Zinaida had no idea. Once she figured it out she would be able to find her way there easily. Being a first year kind of stunk. The castle was way too big for Zinaida to be able to navigate without a map to help her out. There conveniently seemed to be no one round that could help the girls figure out where they were either.

Serenity wondered if it would ever get easier to get around the castle without having to take a detour that took most of the day. The place was just so huge that she figured it would probably never happen. Maybe if she could meet some friends that she could walk around the castle with she wouldn’t get so lost, well if the other person knew the castle better than her, heck even if they didn’t know the castle all that well at least together they could maybe find their way. She considered maybe asking one of the prefects in her house to take her a tour of the castle instead of just that night after the sorting ceremony where they showed them to the Ravenclaw House and where their dorms were, for some reason the stairs didn’t seem to move that night, maybe they only moved when they knew little first years were on them that didn’t know where they were going – that would be mean. Although as much as she kept getting lost and how much she hated it Serenity was very strong willed in the sense that she wanted to explore the castle herself and find her own way about and not have someone hold her hand every time. She wasn’t stupid though and knew that it wasn’t a sign of weakness to maybe ask someone for directions every now and then when she was really lost or really late for something, for instance she could see herself in a few frantic mornings running late for class and if there was something Serenity hated more than anything it was being late for anything.

When the girl in front of her turned around, having heard Serenity’s question, the young Ravenclaw figured she couldn’t of been much older than herself, she wasn’t a Ravenclaw or she would of seen her by now but she was almost sure that she had seen her at the sorting ceremony but couldn’t remember what house she had gotten sorted into. The soft smile on the girls face reassured this Ravenclaw and she felt relieved when the girl exclaimed that she could in fact show her in the right direction of the Great Hall, and not a moment sooner because Serenity could feel her stomach being less than grateful about this detour. Although Serenity’s own smile started to shine less bright and dim down to a confused look crossing her face. The girl seemed so sure that she could help Serenity but that changed as fast as she could blink – she must definitely be a first year too, for someone older would surely know their way about better than a person having only set foot in the castle a number of days prior. “I’m afraid I’m no help either.” she said with a small shrug and awkward laugh. “Maybe if we walk a little further down the corridor we can get some indication as to what floor we are on?” she asked the girl, not sure if the girl would even accept her offer, maybe she had somewhere else to be or had someone else to meet and she couldn’t waste her time walking around with a girl who was as equally as lost as her. Even if she was then Serenity could at least go on further now the corridor herself, she at least knew the floors that each classroom was on so if she could find a classroom then she might be in luck.
