Kira wondered into the Great Hall, letting herself stare at the new decorations in awe. Big crowds didn't bother her, and she had been excited to come. That's why she asked her new friend Zoe to come with her. The blond wasn't here yet, and Kira wondered if she had any problems with the outfit Tyra had sent for her. Kira, personally, loved the outfit her older sister had made for her. Tyra really knew how to read a personality and make clothes that were perfect for you.

Kira wondered over to the refreshments table, getting herself a drink. Zoe would be along soon enough, and until then, perhaps she might run into someone else she knew. She had seen Jacob with a Slytherin girl, and the thought made Kira happy. She hadn't been sure of her ability to make Jacob comfortable in a place like this, and it was good to see that the boy had found someone who could make him smile. There was another Slytherin girl, one Kira was sure she knew from somewhere, dancing with a rose in her hair and a blond boy. Kira didn't want to interrupt to ask for the girls name.

She took a sip of butterbeer, enjoying the music and the people watching.

She was nervous. She didn't know what to feel that moment. She didn't really want to go to the Yule Ball. But thinking one of her friends might be there with someone else was irritating her. So, Lauryn dressed nicely for the occasion. The Hufflepuff looked at herself in the mirror and gave a sigh. Although what she's feeling was wrong for other people, it didn't mind her. After completely dresses and in her shoes, Lauryn went off to the Great Hall where the party started a minute a go. As she walked in, slowly looking around at the beautifully ornamented Great Hall, Lauryn spotted her close friend Kira. All of a sudden her heart skipped a beat. She was stunning as ever.

Checking if her hair was still in place and dusting her dress, Lauryn approached Kira. "Hey, Kira. You look so nice." She uttered once she got closer to her. Lauryn could smell her shampoo or was it her perfume? She can't tell. "Enjoying the party?" The Hufflepuff wanted to be casual but her tone break every time she spoke.

Kira looked up as Lauryn approached her and a broad smile spread across her face. "Reny! Thanks." Kira grinned as she brushed the lace of her dress. "My sister made it for me. You look really pretty tonight, I really like your hair." She returned the compliment.

Lauryn proceeded to ask her if she was enjoying the party, her voice cracking. Kira reached behind her and got the Hufflepuff a cup of Butterbeer. She turned and offered it to Lauryn. "Here. It's pretty good," Kira smiled, happy to run into her.

Hearing a compliment back from the girl, she felt her cheeks burn. A compliment from a friend was nice but a compliment from Kira was more special. Lauryn smiled nervously when Kira offered her a drink she never had tried before. "Thanks." She mumbled. Lauryn took a swig of the drink and was amazed how it doesn't taste like beer. Her uncle Mason told her that beer tasted bitter and bold. This was butterscotch and sweet. "This is actually good. This is my first time tasting it." She took another swig after. But Lauryn didn't took off her eyes off Kira. "So, do you have a date? Where is he?" She just had to ask because what will it do to her? She didn't know.

Kira couldn't help but smile again as Lauryn complimented the drink. "I know, right? It's just so good." She took another sip of her own drink as if to emphasize her point.

When Lauryn asked about her date, Kira just laughed. "Oh, I don't have one. I came with a friend, she should be here after she changes into an outfit my sister sent her. Tyra is really amazing at fashion." Kira smiled softly as she thought of her sister. "If you see the Harkness twins anywhere they're wearing custom suits my sister made."

Her nervousness was overpowering her. She wanted to run but where? She looked around for any signs of her uncles but they were nowhere. Lauryn had no clue if they even dated someone or not. All she knew was Lucas was the one gets the ladies always and Braxton was the nice one. Groaning inside, Lauryn faked a smile. She listened to Kira but was distracted by the foam from the butterbeer on top of her lip. "Your sister is probably awesome then." She muttered almost a whisper. Lauryn tried to focus but that foam on her lip was distracting. She pointed at her own lip, "You have something on your -... nevermind, I'll get it." The Hufflepuff stopped mid-sentence before taking a closer step toward Kira. They were the same height. Perfect. She felt something for Kira but didn't know what kind.

Lauryn step more closer and touched her lips, hands started to shake but it was the moment she'll know what kind of a feeling she was feeling for her. The brunette cuffed Kira's face and planned a deep kiss on her lips. She was frozen and yet she snaked her arms around her neck.

Kira turned to Lauryn as the girl murmured something. "Hm?" She asked cheerily, and the girl started to say she had something on her lip. Kira began to reach up to brush it off but froze when Lauryn cupped her face. "Lau-?" Kira started to ask but was cut off when the other girl kissed her, wrapping her arms around Kira's neck.

Her ocean eyes went wide and she let out a small gasp. Kira froze in place, shocked and unsure of what to do. A thousand things screamed in her head, overlapping each other so she had no idea what she was thinking.

It didn't feel right for her. She didn't feel anything romantic but why was she jealous of her other friends? Lauryn slowly backed away from Kira and was surprised to herself, too. "I ... umm. I- ..." Lauryn was out of words and instead stay and make the situation more awkward than ever. The brunette Hufflepuff flee the Great Hall and go somewhere she couldn't seen on find if someone do started to look for her. It was the most embarrassing thing she had ever done to a friend and failed to stop herself because of her hunches.

Kira tried to stop her friend as she fled. "Lauryn, hold on!" She tried to grab the girls arm but missed, and watched helplessly as the girl fled. Kira sighed, and downed her butterbeer. She needed to go find Zoe, and then maybe go find Lauryn.

Kira was torn between wanting to talk to her friend and thinking she might need some time alone. Maybe Zoe could tell her what to do.
