Brayden walked through the harbour in some jeans and a t-shirt. It was warm out today and Bray was making the most of it while it lasted, even though summer was on its way. He walked alongside the railings which the water was on the other side. He leant against them and looked out over the water while kicking a few stones in. He was bord so he needed something to keep his mind occupied

Cyndi was so glad that Spring was definitely here. She was so over the winter and even though they didn't get all that much snow in New Zealand, she had never been a fan of the cold weather. She loved the springtime and had decided to leave the castle for a short trip to Obsidian Harbor, just for a few hours. Dressed in a t-shirt, hoodie and jeans, Cyndi looked just as young as some of the students from the castle but since they weren't allowed into Obsidian during the schoolyear, she knew she would not be mistaken for one of them.

Heading straight for her favorite place in the harbor, Cyndi looked out over the water. Instantly, her shoulders relaxed and she felt more at ease. The water always seemed to do that to her. She glanced over to her left where a guy seemed to be doing the same thing. With a small smile, she returned her gaze to the ocean.

Bray looked to his side when he saw a pretty girl stand near him. She was doing what he was doing and he met her gaze when she looked at him. He smiled then began to speak to her but not move closer as she might get scared off. " Do you find the water as relaxing as i do or are you just here for the scenery?" He laughed slightly as he spoke

Looking back at the guy again, Cyndi held her smile as she listened to him. She contemplated his question for a moment, never breaking the gaze that he was holding her in. "Both I guess" she replied with a small shrug. It was true that the water always relaxed her, but she also loved the harbor. That was why she had chosen to live so near it once she had graduated from school.

"What about you?" she asked the handsome stranger. Although not usually the type to make conversation with strangers, today was a beautiful day and Cyndi was eager to converse with someone who seemed to be enjoying the day as much as she was.

Bray smiled then looked out at the water again. He gave a slight shrugged. " Both as well i suppose. Its one thing for it to calm you down but i love it around here as well. I think its quieter then Brightstone as there arent any school kids around." He laughed and looked back at her with a smile again. " Im Brayden, nice to meet you...."

Cyndi listened to Brayden speak. When he mentioned that Obsidian was quieter than Brightstone, she smiled knowingly. "Tell me about it" she muttered. Being around the students all day normally didn't bother her at all, but some days she wanted peace and quiet and found it difficult to get.

Looking up as he introduced himself, Cyndi smiled. "Cool name" she said as she stepped closer to hold her hand out for him to shake. "I'm Cyndi" she added as she leaned on the railing beside him.

Byaden smiled as she commented on his name. He personally didnt really like it that much but it was his name after all and he had to live with it. He took hold of her hand and shook it. " Well thanks. I like your name too, its cute." He smiled slightly at her hoping that she wouldn't take what he had just said the wrong way. He wondered what she worked as, she looked young, like fresh out of school kind of young. " So Cyndi, whats your profession then? You look like a nurse or something" He chuckled

Cyndi continued to smile as he complimented her name and called it cute. She placed her hand back in her hoodie as she continued to listen to him speak. When he told her that he thought she might be a nurse, Cyndi's eyebrows raised. She had never been told that before though noone ever seemed to guess what she actually did. She figured that her youthful appearance made it hard for others to believe she could actually be a professor.

"I've never heard that one before..."she said with a chuckle of her own. "Believe it or not, I'm actually a professor at HNZ" she added quietly, "so I definitely know what you mean about enjoying the peace and quiet here." She wondered what he'd think of that. Most people were quite shocked when they heard, but those who knew her and had gone to school with her weren't surprised at all. It was almost as if they had expected her to go into teaching all along.

Bray looked at her and chuckled. "Wow a teacher. You don't really look that old to be honest, when ever i think of a teacher all ways think of a old guy with a beard." He laughed. " So what do you teach? Im guessing its something cool and interesting" He smiled as he spoke. He still idnt see her as a professor, she was too pretty in his opinion

Cyndi laughed right out loud at what Brayden said. "Nope, no beard last I checked" she added and broke out into giggles again. When they had subsided, she finally answered his question. "I guess you'll have to be the judge of that yourself. I teach Ancient Runes" she said and then looked at him expectantly to see whether he actually thought it was an interesting subject to teach.

Bray nodded. He knew a little about that subject but he wasn't an expert. " Really, wow no way. I love that subject. One of my favorites. Im like an expert." He laughed hoping she wouldn't ask him a question and make him look like an utter fail. "So how long have you been a professor for then. Im guessing not very long as you dont look very old to me."

Cyndi's eyebrow lifted as Brayden called himself an expert in Ancient Runes. "Maybe you can come be a guest speaker for my class one day then" she said with a smirk on her face. Expert or not, she wouldn't mind any excuse to see him again. Cyndi looked away from his face and glanced back at the waves in the harbor.

Looking back at Brayden as he tried to find out how long she'd been a professor, Cyndi chuckled. "Not all professors are old hags, you know" she teased. "I haven't been a professor long though. Just a year as a matter of fact." Cyndi was startled to hear those words slip out of her mouth. She couldn't believe time had flown by so quickly.

"Enough about me though" Cyndi added with a nudge to Brayden's shoulder. "What about you Brayden? What do you do?" she asked, quite curious to hear about his life. She gave him another glance, trying to get a read on what he might do for a living, but it was hard to tell.

Brayden thought for a second. If she had been a professor for one year that would make her about 18 or19. He shrugged at her question. " Well i move from job to job quite alot. I get bored easily. At the moment i help out in a shop in England, its my day off so im here. The pay is very good though i must admit. Im pretty well off compared to alot of other people i know that work in a shop." He ruffled his hair up awkwardly hoping that she didnt think he was a loser because he didnt stay in a certain job for too long. " So can i get you a drink or something. On me of course."

(sorry wrong character.)

((No need to apologize...it's Jensen Ackles  ))

Cyndi listened to him speak and was surprised to hear that he was from England. She figured he was around her age, so she didn't think it was all that weird that he didn't stick to one job. A slight frown crossed her face as he mentioned all of the money he had. Cyndi had grown up in a family that was comfortable but certainly not well off, so to her money was not as important as it was to others. She knew there were more important things to life. She also disliked bragging and wondered if he was trying to impress her with that information.

"England, really? I've got family there." she replied, deciding to ignore his whole money comment. Cyndi was able to overlook that comment especially since Brayden was so darn adorable looking. She thought that it was pretty funny that he mentioned living in England since she had just sent an owl to her mother telling her she would be visiting over the Yule break.

When he asked to buy her a drink, the frown lifted off of Cyndi's face slightly until he said the words 'On me of course.' Turning to face him directly, Cyndi's eyes took on a hard glint, though she tried to lighten it up with the smile on her face. "I'd love a drink, but there's no need for you to pay. I've got money of my own" she said, her Gryffindor pride kicking in. She faced him, waiting for him to challenge her and hoping that he wouldn't. The only thing Cyndi disliked more than bragging was a guy who tried to treat her like some helpless damsel in distress. She was neither and hoped he would recognize that and appreciate it.

Bray laughed when she mentioned she had family over there. " Wow small word hey." He smiled when she said that she could pay as well , he shrugged passively. " Ok i was only offering. I have always seen it polite for the guy to buy for the girl. But if thats how you want to do it, fine by me." He sighed and looked around then back at Cyndi. " So do you know any good places?" Brayden had not been here for very long so he didn't know a lot of good places around here and he thought that she might

Cyndi pushed her hair behind her ears as she listened to him speak. She always thought it was polite for a guy to offer too, and was glad to discover that he had manners. When he asked her if she knew of any places they could go to grab a drink, Cyndi bit her lip and thought about it for a moment.

"Well, if you want to stay in the harbor, then there's the Leaky Cauldron over there" she said, pointing over his shoulder toward the pub. With a smile, she added, "Or we could apparate to the mall and either go the dinette or the Medley. The dinette's doesn't serve alcohol but it's got great food, and the Medley has great drinks and music." She waited expectantly, hoping one of these places would sound interesting to Brayden. Cyndi didn't even bother mentioning Brightstone because she knew it would be overrun by the students and both of them had already established not wanting to be around them today.

Brayden thought for a second on where pick. He decided to stay local for today. " I think the Leaky Cauldron sounds great at the moment." He smiled widely and looked around then back to Cyndi. " Urm which way is it." He said with a embarrassed laughed at his lack of geographical know how. He was still new here so of course he wouldnt rally know where everything is so Bray just comforted himself with that pathetic excuse

Cyndi nodded her head and then giggled as he asked where it was. "That way" she said pointing again. "It's just around that corner over there." Cyndi stepped away from the railing and stepped up beside Brayden. "Follow me" she said and began walking toward the Leaky Cauldron.
