The forest was quiet as Abel's hooves walked stealthily along the hard ground. His bow was clutched tightly in his hand, looking out for any prey. The centaur wanted to make his family proud and bring home something they could all enjoy, but the lack of finding something worth killing was beginning to become frustrating. He wandered even further out of the center of the forest, relying on his bow for if anything was to come for attack. Despite this, he was older now and so hunting required much less caution, even with his lack of experience. He had only been hunting a couple of times before, mostly to his father's discretion, but Abel didn't care. Hunting gave him a sense of freedom that he couldn't quite explain and he was not going to finish until he found something.
The rustling of bushes made the centaur alert. He lowered himself behind a large rock, his bow ready for shooting if need be. After a moment of nothing he realised it could have been the wind and slowly stood back up, continuing on his journey. The centaur made even more of an effort to walk quieter, trying not to scare any potential victims away. His father definitely would have already killed a whole pack of animals by now, but Abel was not giving up and continued to walk further away from the heart of the forest.
