Beau was excited to be watching his first ever game of quidditch. Kiera's explanation of the game had left him somewhat confused, so he was hoping that watching a game would help him understand what was going on. He looked on with envy as the Hufflepuffs took the field. I can't wait until I'm old enough to join the team! he thought.
He was disappointed when a girl from the other team took the ball to start with. He followed her with his eyes and wondered why no-one was trying to tackle her. He saw she was going in for a goal! "No! No!" he called, as she hurled the ball toward one of the goals. Then the goalkeep saved it! "YES!" he exploded with relief. He didn't actually know any of the players except for Alex, who didn't seem to be doing much, but there was no way he was going to cheer for the nerdy Ravenclaws over his own house.
Beau looked on in shock as he saw players with bats smack solid-looking balls at each other. What the hell? Is that allowed? he wondered, then, when he realised it must be allowed, he grinned delightedly "This game is so cool!" he laughed. When a goal was scored against the Hufflepuffs, though, he wasn't laughing. "Nooo!" he cried, his hands going to his head, and did the same again when one of the Hufflepuff players was hit by one of those heavy-looking balls. What was it Kiera had called them? Bloods? Bolgers?
Beau was on the edge of his seat, waiting to see what would happen next. His cheeks were stretched from ear to ear with his smile, and his eyes sparkled with excitement. "Isn't this great?" he enthused to the person sitting next to him.
