Riley was finally home for christmas, she had missed her family so much, but as the limo approached the Alexandra manor she couldn't help but wish she was a normal kid. But as soon as the vehicle stopped the young girl jumped from it and ran straight up to the door and was greeted by her mother and Nanny, holding her baby brother Laiken. "Mum!" Riley cried, wrapping her arms around her mothers slender waist. She had only had her brother three months ago, yet she had already got her figure back. But the novelty wore off qyickly for Riley "Where's dad?" asked the young girl. She somehow knew that her father would be away on business again, her face drooped as she looked up at her mother.

It was a special day for Francis, and she had dressed accordingly. She stood by the front door in white skinny jeans and brand new heels, nervously waiting for her daughter to arrive. It had only been three months since the birth of her second child, but Francis had already gotten her perfect figure back. She had learnt from previous experience that in the modelling world there was no time to lose. As Riley's limousine pulled up outside the manor, Francis ran towards her daughter and flung her arms around her. But the moment was short lived, as Riley asked where her father was. "Oh sweety, I'm sorry" she said, looking into her daughter's eyes. "A client has a new record coming out in a few days. He had to fly to New York. He won't be back for christmas" she explained.

Riley's face drooped, she somehow knew her father wouldn't be home for christmas. He never was. She should have been used to the disappointment, but each year it only got harder to bear. Riley pulled out from her mother's embrace and ran straight past Nanny, only giving a small glance towards Laiken before turning away. She ran straight up the marble staircase and into her bedroom. Throwing herself onto her bed Riley began to weep. She could hear her mother trying to chase after her in her ridiculous heels, only making Riley bury her head deeper into her pillow. As her mother entered her bedroom and sat down on the end of the bed Riley whimpered and wiped her tears with the back of her sleeve. "Why does he always do this?" she said, looking up at her mother.

Francis sighed as Riley ran off to her room. She would never understand that the business was important to her father, he didn't mean to be away at christmas, it just happened that way. "Take Laiken in the lounge would you?" Francis said to Nanny as she followed Riley up the stairs as fast as she possibly could in heels. She sat down on Riley's bed upon arrival to her room and rested her hand on Riley's back. "I'm sorry sweety. I don't know why he does it." she said sighing. "Don't wipe your eyes on that! It cost me a small fortune" she said looking at Riley's top. Kicking off her heels, Francis swung her legs around and held her duaghter in attempt to comfort her. She was never very good with Riley, Nanny could have done a much better job at cheering her up. "Come on Riley. You just got here. Lets start off with a happy time aye? Laiken is growing so fast you know, wouln't you like to hold him?" she asked, trying to take Riley's mind off her father.

Riley tensed as her mother tried to hug her. When she did it never felt right. Not like it should with a mum. Not like it did with Nanny. The funny thing was Riley was beginning to feel like her mother was just Francis to her, an older sister or a cousin. Not her mother. She often did wish that Nanny was her real mother. She acted like one. She baked cookies and sewed and knitted. When her mother tried to draw her attention to Laken Riley couldn't help but smile. She had only seen him once, and he was growing so fast, she might be mad at her parents, but what right did she have to be mad at her baby brother? "I suppose" she said, reluctantly getting off her bed and starting off down the stairs.
