Damon Kyle wasn't always the best person when it came around to exploring. He looked around the room that he was in, and he could see that he was still in the dungeons, which he had been for the past two hours. No matter what door he tried, where he went, he simply could not find the way out of here! How could the Slytherins do this? He just could not figure it out for the life of him, and it was driving him mad. Damon had Lumos on his wand, shining the halls and such, but everything looked the same. How could anyone navigate down through here? It was scary and he knew that Professor Styx lurked a bit down here too. If that wasn't enough to scare someone, he didn't know what would. Damon just wanted to be able to explore everything, do everything he wanted without having to be a threat or harm anyone or anything. Was that more than what others could ask for? He might have been a Hufflepuff, but...actually he couldn't even finish that thought since he didn't really know the difference between houses and whatnot. Damon didn't know a thing about Hogwarts because he did not grow up in a magical town. He virtually new nothing about the magical world until he came to New Zealand with his foster parents from the United States. He was from the south of the United States. Well, not from there, but he had the majority of his memories there. Damon knew that he was not American though, that was for certain. He was not born there. But he was raised, and loved it anyway. Damon continued to look around the dungeons, but he continually kept getting lost. It was getting aggravating to the point where he was willing to stop anyone to lead him out of here. It was creepy. He wasn't that brave anyway. He needed to find a way to get out of here. At least he didn't have a class right now or else he would have been late.

However there was no one around as far as he could see. Damon sighed and he continued to walk since he didn't have anything else to do. Maybe he would see the light soon enough that was not emitting from his wand. The light that would lead him out of the dungeons. However as he continued forward, he was exiting the deeper part of the dungeons, and he passed the Potions classroom. At least he found that, but now he needed to find a way out of here. Then he would feel better and whatnot. Damon was able to see some sort of light, and that was a good sign. He put his wand away after discontinuing the spell, however his victory was short lived when he was distracted by the light. He kept going when he needed to turn. Damon ran smack right into a wall, enough to where he was falling down on his back. How did he manage to do this? Damon let out a sigh and hoped that no one seen what he had managed to do. He looked up as he sat up, and his blood ran cold. Someone did. He smiled though, and didn't say anything. It was a girl that saw, and he could only hope that she would be nice enough to him.

Alaska Zhefarovich sighed as she stretched her long legs out. Alaska had been pretty short most of her life, until this year it would seem. Alaska has had to go shopping for pants twice already. She felt bad about it too. Her dad shouldn't have to spend money on her like he was. If Alaska could stop growing out of her clothes, she would do that in a heartbeat. But her legs just kept growing and growing. "Height is a clear genetic trait in this family." It was easy to see that she was going to get pretty tall over the next couple of years. Even her mother was pretty tall for a woman. So Alaska had no chance at being short. Alaska sighed again and this time decided to get up from off the floor. Before someone tripped over her giraffe legs or something. Alaska liked to just sit around in the dungeons. It was dark, cool, and gloomy. Which was how she felt a majority of the time. So it fit. The Common Room was a nice place to be too, bit it was more crowded. Alaska was only a first year so she got a lot less respect than she would get if she was older. Alaska didn't take being bossed around too well either. So it was just better if she minded her own business for now. Alaska rounded the corner and paused when heard the sound of someone headed her way. A part of her hoped it was perhaps Professor Styx. He was her uncle after all, but more importantly she needed to ask him some questions about Defense Against the Dark Arts. She figured he would appreciate a student actually showing interest in something he had to teach rather than getting into trouble. But it sounded like student. A load student. Alaska rolled her eyes.

Alaska watched silently as a boy ran into the wall instead of turning around the corner like a coordinated person would do. What an idiot? Alaska figured he might have not been so goo at seeing in the dark, or maybe he really was just that stupid? It was probably the later. He seemed to finally notice her too. But if he was hoping she would help him out and be a pal, he was seriously mistaken. "Nice job dunce." Alaska snorted before she crossed her arms over her chest, her pale blue eyes staring the boy down like he was a fresh piece of meat or something. He was a mess. "Little badgers like you don't belong in the Dungeons. You should probably waddle back up to the surface before dismember yourself with another wall." Alaska was being rude. Mostly because she thought he was an idiot. How could he not see a wall that was right in front of him? Alaska didn't know the boy's name, only that he was in Hufflepuff and a first year. There wasn't really anything about him that was interesting enough to make Alaska really care what his name was either. So she figured as soon as he left the Dungeons, she could get back to ignoring him.

Damon almost flinched when the girl that came along called him a dunce, but well, he was acting like one when he ran into the wall, did he not? It was not like he did this on purpose, but the fact that she was there with him, so that he was not alone in the dungeon made him happy. He made sure that he did not have any grime or anything like that on his clothing, before he made the distance between he and the Slytherin nonexistent. He embraced the Slytherin into a rather tight hug. Damon had always been affectionate, but he was not one of those that knew what personal boundaries were. He loved getting affection because he often lacked it when he was growing up with foster parent to foster parent. This was known to make sure not get too attached to Damon before he was shipped off even to another set of foster parents. And it worked every time, the only issue was Damon suffered without getting the proper love and affection a child really needed. Damon hoped that the Slytherin would not get too hostile, but why would she? Hugs were amazing and awesome! Everyone had to agree with that. The young Hufflepuff released the Slytherin from the hug, and he gave her a really big smile that could light up the dungeon. "I cannot really see well into the dark, so I kind of ran into the wall too fast trying to get out of the dungeons. Potions classroom is really easy to find, but oh my goodness, everything else down here is just like a maze. How do you Slytherins navigate without getting lost?" He realized that he had been talking a lot and she probably did not want to hear it, but what choice did she have since she was still here with him?

The poor, naive boy did not even know that she was being rude to him. He brushed his longer brown hair down and he smiled. His smile was always bright, and he wondered if there was something more in the dungeons than anything else. The empty classrooms, perhaps the Slytherin common room was nearby? He was not really aware of it if it was. He just knew Slytherins came and went from here, but there might have been a club or something! Maybe they let other houses in! Damon thought he could be really good with the club! Now he was just dreaming. Damon had to think for a moment with what she meant by dismember himself. Damon shrugged, "I would leave if I knew my way out. Can you dismember yourself with a wall or something? I don't get it." He wondered if she was being serious. Being new to magic made him seem a bit odd, but could he help it? He might be muggle-born for all he knew, but did not know for certain. He knew nothing of his family, and he was dying to know any way to get to know them, or know about them. All he knew was that they were dead. He wished he knew, or even had siblings.

The last thing Alaska would have expected from a boy she had just made fun of was a hug. It was generally uncommon for one to be affectionate when they were being insulted. Apparently this boy didn’t get the memo about the norms of society. When the boy made space being him and Alaska nonexistent, she tensed up. First of all, she hated being touched by anyone. The only time she accepted it was when her father occasionally felt a hug was necessary. But he barely did that, so Alaska felt that there was no excuse for anyone else to feel like they had the right. So when this boy decided that he thought it was going to be all fine and dandy to hug her, Alaska felt little repentance for reaching out and shoving that boy away from her. What was the matter with this kid? "I don’t know if you know this or not, but generally people don’t appreciate being mauled by strangers.” Alaska dusted off her clothing to make sure she was all clean. For all she knew, he could have something gross all over him that suddenly transferred over to her during the hug. Luckily for her, her clothing still appeared to be clean and wrinkle free s. The boy started to talk again, and Alaska rolled her eyes. "Probably because we’re not idiots, or we’re just down here more often than most. I don’t know.” Alaska shrugged. Honestly, she had no idea why she knew the layout of the dungeons so well, she just did. The Slytherin second year had half a mind to ask why this boy was even down here. It was easy to tell that he wasn’t a Slytherin. If he was, he would know his way around better. It wasn’t a Slytherin only area or anything, but most other students seemed to avoid this area except for Potions class.

"Why didn’t you just use lumos? Then maybe you’d be able to see where you’re going.” Alaska offered some advice. He didn’t deserve any tips, but it had to be better than him getting blood all over the dungeon. Alaska rolled her eyes once more when the boy asked if he could dismember himself with a wall. For a brief moment, she wished her dad was here. He would give her some decent advice on how to lose this idiot. Alaska admired the brain her dad had. Half the time she bet there was no one in the world smarter than her daddy. "Okay I’m leaving now. I can’t deal with this.” Perhaps Alaska should just go get Professor Styx and tell him that there was some idiot lost in the dungeons. Would he even be willing to help? Alaska wanted to get away as soon as possible. Especially since he clearly didn’t understand a word she was saying. He was too stupid. Alaska gave the boy once last glance before she started off down the hall. Her legs carried her as fast as she could go in hopes that the boy wouldn’t be able to follow her. If she had to deal with his lack of common sense any longer, he was probably going to get nailed in the head. Alaska must have gotten her family’s temper. They seemed like they had little tolerance for these sort of things, and so did Alaska. The young Slytherin wasn’t quite sure if it was something to be weary of or not just yet.

Damon of course felt the girl get tense under his hug, but he did not care. He just hugged her, and he did not care. Damon was just so glad that he was not alone! Damon loved hugs, giving and receiving, having not received them much in his life. But he was used to people being like this Slytherin girl. Damon started to laugh when she reached out and shoved him. He fell back a bit but he was lucky to not fall from it. He managed to catch himself. She thought that he had mauled her. No that was not mauling! Damon stated with a bright smile, "That is not mauling, silly! That is hugging! Hugging is supposed to make you feel really nice and warm and stuff." She was just so silly for not knowing what that was. He smiled even more at her as he went up to get his hair out of his face. All he needed was to teach her how to give out love and stuff. Love made the world go around. She would need to come forth and learn how to embrace her peers! Damon looked down at the floor for a moment before he looked back at the Slytherin, before he wondered what her name was. She had yet to say it. Does that mean she does not want to be friends? When she said that they were not idiots, or that they are just down there more often, it made sense. He nodded, indicating that he understood what she was saying. "That seems like it would be more likely then! You guys are down here a lot more than I am! I just have Potions down here and that was it!" There were no other classes here, thankfully. He got lost enough throughout the school. He wanted to look around the dungeons anyway. They seemed like they were a lot of fun!

"Ummm, I am just not used to using magic. So I didn't think about it. I will be sure to use it next time when I am down here!" That was some really good advice she was giving him! So she might end up to be a friend anyway! Oh how exciting! He could just hug her again! But one was enough for now. She tensed up so much, he did not want to make her uncomfortable anyway. Damon wondered what it would be like to really make a friend from Slytherin. He never had one before, and it would be just lovely that he would receive one. But it seemed like fate was not going to let him today. When she said that she could not deal with this, he wondered what she was speaking up. Then she started to walk away. He would have followed but she disappeared into the darkness. Damon sighed and he shrugged, "Oh well, now to find my way out of here!" He took out his wand and he intoned, "Lumos!" His wand shone with brilliance as the dungeon ahead of him was illuminated with the light. It was not long before he ended up finding the empty potions classroom, before he made his way out of there. That was a close one. He still had a bit of a headache from his bump into the wall.

Fin...for now
