Gary leant back on a bench. He had a huge grin on his face and didn't attempt to hide it. For the first time in the past year he was child free and it felt great. It turned out that the random superhero Avery had taken a shine too was good with children and, as he was now proving, a great babysitter. He smirked at the admiration he had seen on his baby sisters face. It was close to that she had when she looked up a himself.
Gary scanned the crowd. It was a Saturday so there was quite a rush. He saw a face he recognised but, once he had blinked, it disappeared, she disappeared. The grin was wiped from his face as the memories flooded back. The face he had imagined belonged to a girl called Nina, the only girl who had actually loved him. He had loved her properly, she had been amazing after all, too bad he had been chicken.
Gary couldn't stop the replay in his mind. He watched her nervously spit out those words I... I'm Pregnant Gar'. He watched as his face paled as he stood and left. When he had gone beck to talk to her, her bags were packed. He sighed at the memory, he would've accepted it eventually but, well, just not when it mattered.
Gary eventually pushed the thoughts away and stood. He hated those few moments where he thought back to his old life, before his parents passed away and he was happy. He liked to live in the now, the now where he had three young girls to look after, one full time, and not a single relationship that lasted a whole weekend. Gary was so busy pushing away the memories he didn't look where he was going and, just as he 'woke up', he had to stop so he wouldn't bang into a lady with a kid. The lady looked up and he felt his face pale dramatically. He hadn't imagined her, he hadn't seen the child. "Nina?"
