*and i wonder why, why i'm falling
AND I WONDER WHY I'M OFF THE GROUND
the students of hogwarts seemed pleased about the cloak of sunshine that had befallen brighstone
village this saturday morning. their smiles were more exuberant than indianna could remember and
their conversations wilder, a decibel louder as they swarmed the cobblestoned streets in gaggles of
two or more. but the girl with the shyly sweet smile was not intimidated anymore than she had been
the last time, perhaps even less as she lolled her head to the left and flicked her earthly eyes in and
amongst their glorious faces, searching for a certain sweeping fringe and a pair of irises bluer than
any she had seen before in her lifetime. it had been a few weeks since she had written to sam now,
and with an anxious leap of her heart to the gulping proximities of her throat, indianna stared out in
to the growing crowd of students and prayed that he had not blown her off. had she been to rash to
ask him to teach her how to fly? had she come off as too eager when shed asked if this brightstone
weekend was okay for him? and did he even truly like her in the way she had been so taken by him
and the potential of one amazing friendship? the young girls teeth chewed down on the fleshy part
of her lower lip as these thoughts tore like a tornado through her overactive mind. it wasnt often, in
fact it was never, that indi had ever felt so open with a boy and so comfortable and happy within his
sights. not even with falcon had she warmed up so instantaneously. and so, when it came down to
situations such as these the sixteen year old was bereft of any clue. the pair were only friends, yes
of course, but still there was just something about sam prince that had indianna abandon all caution
for a brief second, her eyes caught a head of shaggy hair and for a brief moment she had thought it
was him. her fingers, ringed with pretty ceramic roses, curled over her knees and drew them closer
to her, only to feel the frantic beat of her heart thud wickedly against her thigh. a delicate frown was
drawn upon her latina features, her nose wrinkled in thought and her fingers traced along the small
amount of stitching on the neck of her singlet top. what a peculiar feeling. so unexpected from a girl
with fear at the degree of hers. a boy making her heart race? it was absurd and entirely impossible.
so indi shrugged it off with a breathless sigh, blamed it passively on the heat, and stretched out on
the spongy grass, lapping up the dappled sunlight as it filtered over the expanse of olive skin shed
left bare on her legs and arms. indi hoped her choice of clothing was wise for flying seeing as thats
what she was here for after all. she had figured in the end that at the worst a few grazes that could
have been prevented wouldnt have been and that was surely something she could live with. nimble
fingers threaded through the loose strands of her hair and threw the raven locks up into a messy do
tying it quickly with an elastic as indianna waited as patiently as she could for her company to arrive.
