Corey hadn't known how to feel lately, everything felt odd. Things were changing back home, she knew this from the letters. It scared her to think of some of her makeshift family might be getting adopted, or moving out to try and find something better. Granted she knew that some of her siblings were old enough to leave she couldn't picture home without them. She knew they all talked about wanting to leave or finally be adopted into a family of there own but know that these things might be happening it made Corey almost sick to think about. Her only friends were at the orphan edge and she knew that if some left or were adopted out they would receive new children. Deep down Corey wanted her friends to be happy but she wanted that too. She knew the odds were against her for one she was disabled, and secondly she was a pair. She would not be adopted without her biological sister Lolli by her side. She knew that mad things a lot more complicated, but it was the way things were. It was hard to think about things being any different, but Corey new things were changing.

That was what had brought her out by a creek running near to the school. It was getting dark and Corey had wanted to see the sunset she figured she had a good forty-five minutes before it got dark, plenty of time to think about things. She wondered what would happen to her for one thing, once everyone left. It was hard for people to accept her, they thought that her being deaf was a barrier, but it wasn't. You didn't have to yell and scream for her to hear you, you don't even have to raise you voice. All Corey had to do was look at your mouth and she could tell exactly what you were saying. Her sister was the one who knew this best and that's why they were so close, Lolli was the only one who treated her like a normal person. Thinking about all this Corey sighed and slipped off her shoes, she slipped her pale feet into the water and smiled it was cool and relaxing, just what she needed right now. Looking around Corey found a few rocks suited for skipping and sat them by her side. Hoping to take her mind off things for a moment she picked one up and flicked it. She smiled when it hit the water four times before stopping and drifting to the bottom.

Felix was pretty big on the weather. He loved watching it more than anything. It was why he knew that if he had been a wizard the weather and geography would be what he would be doing with his days. A little odd considering that most just figured that Felix wasn't bright enough to actually be interested in any part of anything educational but that was a lie that Felix was okay with having. If people didn't know what he loved most after food, sport and fun then he was okay with it. People didn't really need to know, it just meant that more often that not he was outside playing around, playing quidditch while always keeping a small eye on the sky. Today was the kind of day that Felix loved. He'd played quidditch some friends just before lunch and as they split off to either study or be with their respective partners Felix had found himself walking the familiar path to a familiar place that not many knew about. And then those that did never openly spoke of. It was like a not so very secret club. A well kept secret known by most, hardly making it a secret in the end. Felix walked quite slowly while on his own. He didn't need to be anywhere for a specific time so it lead to him walking as if he was competing in a race against a snail and letting it win, but in that way he could enjoy the sights and sounds of the always beautiful country in which he was living. Never as nice as Spain but the next best thing. He had always wondered why there was no Magical school in Spain. He figured it was the low wizard to muggle ratio which meant there was no need for one. Not that he complained much. Sure Spain was warmer this time of year, but the change in scenery was always something nice. It posed new problems and new ways for him to be himself.

Reaching the creek he noticed right away that he was not alone. There was a girl, by her self throwing rocks into the water and making them bounce. He smiled slightly watching her do so, before walking towards another area and trying it himself. Felix was good at sport, but it didn't mean he got things first time sometimes being told was what he needed. To at least be told once or twice how to do something and then he was set. He generally didn't need to be told more than once. He just did what he had to. It was always a good move for him, so when he attempt to skim the rocks just as he seen the girl do, it was one of those things that he clearly would not get straight away. He tried over and over, getting more and more frustrated with the fact that he wasn't getting anywhere. That he wasn't managing to do it. He knew that his impatience was coming through, but as a little ball of energy sometimes it was a little hard for him to stay patient, or even to stand still. It was a lot more noticeable when he had something sugary, or in Felix's case generally a lot of things sugary. Looking round again, he sighed loudly. "How did you do that, with the rock?" He asked her, taking a step towards her and giving a warm smile. "I can't see to do it." He gave a light laugh as he said this thinking that she would think him stupid since he was unable to do what appeared to be a very simple thing to do.

Sometimes it took Corey a while to notice things, and this was one of those times. She was so absorbed it what she was doing she didn't realize that a boy had come to the creek, not at first. She of course could not have heard his footsteps, but the thing that had given him away was he had went a little ways down and started trying to skip rocks. It took her a while but her eyes noticed the small bits of movement off to her left. The first time he threw she wasn't aware he was there, she thought the rock had just fallen in from somewhere. But upon the second and third she knew there was someone there. Looking at him she didn't recognize him, but did wonder exactly what he was doing here. Not many people came to the river, some knew it was there but there were other more interesting things to do than come sit by the river. She wondered what he came here for, but for the moment decided not to ask. Corey figured he would say something eventually and it might be worth it to wait. For all she knew he may have even said something while she didn't know he was there, but she hadn't heard any thing in her hearing ability yet, which meant he probably hadn't.

Flipping another stone in her hand she gave it a flick and sadly it sank. 'Too round.' She thought to herself. Looking back to the boy she heard a noise, a sigh or a yawn maybe. Corey couldn't tell, then he spoke he wanted to know how she skipped rocks. Corey smiled as he took a step towards her, "It's not that hard if you know how to do it." She grabbed one of the better rocks at her side and grinned, "And if you use the right rock, you have to make sure they have a good flat side." Corey showed him the rock in her hand so he could see it was flat. "Then you just flick it, kinda like a Frisbee." As she said this she flicked the rock and watched as it went three times and floated to the bottom of the river. "See not too tough." She smiled at the boy. He seemed nice enough, and that was more than a lot of people were. Picking up another good rock she tossed it lightly in the boy's direction. "You try it." She hoped he would get this one, skipping rocks wasn't the most complicated thing in the world, but she'd be proud to say she had taught someone how to do it.
