Veronicasat by the window sill of the common room. The sun was setting behind the forest and the birds returned to their nests but none of that mattered to her now. She had been crying for the past three hours and her throat felt dry and she was having a bad headache and a fever. She didn't care about her rising temperature or her health because nothing mattered to her. She had hugged her legs to her chest, her face buried in her hands and her blonde hair tied messily in a lose bun.

She was still wearing her best dress that she had worn early this morning when she had gone to the village with Zac to sort things out between them but they had become worse. He had broken up with her because he was a coward and couldn't forgive her. He had chosen pain and suffering for her and that was happening right now, he had succeeded in giving her pain, much more than what she had given him unintentionally. He had broken up with her not listening to the thousand times when she mentioned how much she loved her and that she had kissed Enzo because she was drunk. It had not mattered to him how much she pleaded or tried he had planned all along to break up not realizing how much Veronica loved him.

The love was gone but the pain remained and so did the tears and the memories. It had been her first relationship and it had hardly lasted a month. After all those times he had told her how much he loved her he had chosen to break up and hurt her instead of giving her forgiveness and the most painful part was that Veronica felt like trash at the moment, some trash that had thought she could be loved like others. Both her parents had no care or love towards her and she had just recieved similar behavior from her boyfriend. Ex, her mind reminded and she sobbed harder.

Kenny walked through the grounds of Durmstrang. He had been having an OK day but he was starting to have feelings for someone else. He didn't know what to do with these feelings as he still loved Josh. Kenny had already made the mistake of breaking up with Josh once before. He didn't want to make that same mistake again without being certain it was what he wanted to do. Henry was kind and sensitive but Josh was amzing and cute and had always been there for Kenny. It was confusing Kenny but he didn't want to tell Josh yet. He had to wait for the right time.

Kenny stopped walking when he heard the sound of crying. He looked around and saw a someone sat on the ground with their knees hugged to their chest. Kenny realised he knew who the person was. "Veronica?!" He ran over to her sat down beside her, wrapping his arms around her. "Hey, what's wrong??" He had only talked to Veronica once before but he liked her. She was a good friend and she obviously cared about the people she counted as friends. If Kenny was straight, he was sure he would say she was pretty but he didn't look at girls in that way.

Veronica was remembering how she had met Zac in NewZealand, thousands of kilometers from here and they had fallen for each other or at least she had fallen for him. She had promised to come back to Dumstrang just for him because she didn't really care about which school she was put into but only for Zac she had rebelled against her mother and now so simply he had broken up.As she was crying she heard someone call her name. Her head was too clouded to make out who the voice belonged to but she could tell it was male. She was hoping it wasn't Zac because she couldn't look at him in the eye after all this but then her mind reminded her that it couldn't be Zac since he didn't care about her anymore.

She looked up to find out who had come to sit beside her. It was Kenneth, the one guy she had got to know nicely a few days ago. She buried her head in his chest as she hugged him tightly. Her cry had turned to sobs and she looked up at him, her eyes red and puffy. What's wrong?her mind analyzed the question as she tried finding the answer. Everything seemed wrong to her at the moment up to the thought of being in this school anymore. She hugged him as she said "He broke up with me."The words that came from her own mouth ran chills through her and she shivered.

Kenny's eyes widened when Veronica said Zac had broken up with her. He hugged her tighter, trying his best to comfort her-no matter how terrible he was at it. "It's OK. You'll be fine." He sighed and looked down at her. "I know how you feel. It's horrible being dumped by someone." Kenny had hated being dumped and wished he didn't have to see Veronica going through the same pain. "Do you want me to talk to him??" Kenny just wanted to see Veronica smiling again. He would do anything for her if it meant she would stop crying and smile. Maybe even laugh.

Veronica was glad that Kenneth was here and she could talk to him. She wiped away her tears when she heard him say that she'll be fine. At the moment 'fine' seemed like the last word that could fit into her dictionary. "He couldn't forgive me" she whispered as she looked outside the window at the dark sky. "After all the times he talked about love...he couldn't forgive." It was very difficult for Veronica to understand why Zac couldn't forgive her. She hadn't murdered anyone or done unrepairable damage and it had all been done when she was drunk and it wasn't like she didn't apologize to him, then why? "Maybe... he didn't love me at all" she said the thought piercing her heart.

When Kenneth asked if he should talk to Zac she shook her head. The last thing she wanted to do was to see him again. She hated him and loved him at the same time and it was all so confusing and she wouldn't see him again with this confusion in her head. "No...I won't..be able to talk to him" she admitted as tears started flowing from her eyes once again and she wiped them quickly.

Kenny wiped the tears as they started flowing again. "OK. I won't. You'll have to talk to him at some point. You can't avoid him forever." Kenny knew that the sooner she face him, the easier it would be. That was one thing he had found out the hard way. "The longer you avoid him, the more you'll want to hate him. If you talk to him or even have someone else talk to him then you'll be able to get everything sorted." Kenny kept his arm around her the whole time he spoke. He just wanted to comfort her as much as he could.

Ken's word did reflect some truth in them. She would have to face him someday.."Okay, I'll think about it" she said a bit unsure about the idea of talking to Zac. She had to agree she would not like hating him and if she didn't speak to him than hate would become stronger towards him. But the talking would take a while for now she didn't want to see his face. "Did you ever have a breakup?"she asked Kenneth wondering whether gays broke up. It would be difficult to find another gay, or maybe not. She didn't know.

Veronica wondered how Rosalind and other friends of her had survived break ups when they seemed so bad and heart breaking. She had never felt so sad in her life except for the time when she knew her father died.

Kenny smiled when Veronica said she would think about it. At least she was thinking about it instead of saying that she wasn't going to talk to him. He nodded at her question. "Yeah, a few times. Most of them have been my fault actually. I'm not exactly amazing in relationships. I think I'm about to have another break up with him though. It's starting to worry me." He shrugged. "At least this time I'm going to be ready for it. Last time I wasn't" Kenny had been completely surprised the last time and the shock of the whole thing had taken it's effect on him in a bad way. A red eyed Kenny wasn't exactly a great look.

Veronica nodded when Kenneth explained that he did have break ups. However when he said that he was going to have another break up with Josh she looked up at him wondering what had gone wrong. In her own sadness she wasn't able to spot his problems. "Ow..I am sorry" she said as she wiped away her tears and tried to be brave. She couldn't imagine how Josh and Ken would feel if they broke up. They had plans of settling together and now this was happening. Why did love have to be happiest and the saddest emotion as well? Why couldn't it be just plain happiness?

"What happened? Did he betray you or something?"she asked a little unsure of why Ken was thinking of being ready for a break up. She could only hope that everything would be fine between Kenneth and Josh because break up season was the last thing that Durmstrang needed especially since it was already cold in here. Cold, in both ways.

Kenny shrugged. "It's fine. I'm just glad it's not going to be coming as a shock." Kenny looked away from Veronica. He knew he would feel guilty when he revealed why he was going to be breaking up with Josh. It wasn't exactly the best reason in the world.
Kenny shook his head at her. "No. Not that I know of anyway. I think I'm starting to like someone else though. I met Henry the other day and I'm starting to like him...a lot." Kenny didn't even like admitting it to a friend. It was going to be hell admitting it to Josh.

Veronica smiled when she heard that Kenneth had started liking someone else. Love was such a weird emotion sometimes. She wondered if she could ever like someone else. "Thats ...well nice" she said with a smile happy that Kenneth was not sad in the way she was. "Does..he..I mean Henry know about it?" she asked curiously wondering what would happen if Henry didn't like Ken back. "And does he like you?"she asked.

She wondered how Zac could not like her anymore because she wasn't sure if she could ever stop liking him that way. She was very sad and it would take a while to recover from her heartbreak maybe a week or two or a month but she would recover. Yes, you are not one of those girls whose world would stop rotating because of a guy her mind told her heart. It felt weird when her heart and her brain would behave as two different people. But she was going to come out of it and live a normal life.

Kenny sighed. "He doesn't know and until I work out the mess in my head, I'm not going to tell him. I don't want to make the mistake of thinking I like him and dumping Josh when I don't like him that much. I could never hurt Josh like that when there was another way." Kenny had made that mistake once before and he hoped never to do it again. He liked Henry and had feelings for him but if he was wrong about how much he liked him then he would have to try and explain that to Josh. Kenny was surprised that Josh still trusted him at all. He had no reason to after all the times Kenny had betrayed him and hurt his feelings.

Veronica smiled, a little happy that Kenneth cared so much about Josh. "Yeah" she said agreeing with Kenneth. Veronica could only hope that things would stay good between Kenneth and Josh and they wouldn't face pain like how she had. Veronica gave him another hug and said "Everything would be good." She had said that statement for herself and Kenneth, both. She could only hope that things would be better and the pain would reduce.

Kenny wrapped his arms around Veronica and nodded. "I sure hope so." He was glad that he had Veronica as a friend. She was the only person he could properly talk to. If he mentioned any of this to Josh then it would end in bad news and he didn't want to tell Henry about it. Plus, if he told any of his group of friends, he had no idea where it could end up. Especially as they had all moved to different schools. It just made his life all the more difficult. Having someone there to talk to about things was a life saver.

Veronica smiled a little happiness coming back to her from the hug. She sat there beside him for a while and somehow his presence was making her feel optimistic about everything. She realized that it was getting late and that she was feeling hungry. Maybe some food will be left in the kitchens, she thought as she looked up at him and said "Thanks for being with me."Kenneth had been one true friend helping her when she needed someone most. "I'll go freshen up" she said with a smile. She had realized that the crisp dress was making her uncomfortable. "Goodnight" she murmured and kissed him on the cheek before going to her dorm to have a bath.

Kenny smiled at her. "What are friends for??" He rubbed her back then grinned when she kissed him. If she wasn't so upset then he would have thought of a witty comment to make her laugh but he had a feeling it would just make her more upset and that was the last thing he wanted. "Night." He nodded to her then watched her walk away. "Hope you feel better in the morning." He mumbled it to himself rather than saying it to her.
