It was another year, and that meant another Hallowe'en feast. It would be the fourth since Riley had transferred from Beauxbatons, but for some reason it felt like the first. It was the first year that the Hufflepuff had really tried with her costume, mainly because she felt like she really should, seeing as it was the last chance she would have to act like a silly little kid and dress up without being judged. The night had started off in the seventh year dorm room, luckily Riley had befriended Jenn, or she would have ahd no idea where to start with her costume. She wanted to go all out, so after deciding to go as a zombie bride, she had enlisted the help of her room mate Jennifer to help out with her makeup, there was no way the tom boy would be able to manage it on her own. "Hey, Jenn, what do you think of this color?" she asked holding up possibly the ugliest color of eyeshadow she had in her posession, with a suitably confused face, hoping that the seventh year would be able to lead her in the right direction. With her dress on and a fur jacket stained with beatroot juice, Riley almost looked the picture of scary, she would look perfect once her hair and makeup was done.

Pulling a brush from her trunk, Riley started to tease her hair up, admiring Jenn's alternative Alice in Wonderland look, and musing over what she would be able to do to help Jenn with her costume, in exchange for the help she would be getting with her dramatic makeup. It was odd to see Jennifer with so little make up on (though it still seemed like a lot to Riley, who hadn't dared to wear anything more than a bit of chapstick in her life) but she still looked beautfiul, the seventeen year old had always admired her fellow Puff's dramatic attire, never being brave enough to wear such things herself. "Can I help you with anything?" she asked, tossing the brush onto her bed and running her fingers through her teased blond hair and tilting her head as she looked into the mirror.

All Hallows Eve was a night for witches, wizards, ghosts and ghouls so naturally, the students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in New Zealand were getting ready to celebrate it. Jennifer Wilkonson was not an exception so she was getting ready in her dorm room with fellow seventh year and friend, Riley Alexandra. The two blondes dressed up, the older of the two as a fairy tale princess and the younger, Riley, as a zombie bride. Jenn slipped into the blue silky dress and walked out; feeling more like it was the Yule Ball than the Halloween one. Of course it was the first piece of her outfit so she put on the long necklaces, hanging them over her chest and putting on a bracelet on her dainty wrist. She turned her head as she heard Riley speak to her and arched an eyebrow as she saw eye shadow in her hands. It was an ugly colour but it surprised her that her friend actually had any. She shook her head softly. “Want some help?” Jenn didn’t even give her friend the chance to answer before she walked over to her bed and grabbed her makeup bag. She had possibly every make up there could ever be but it was because makeup was something that she loved despite not being a very feminine girl. She looked through her bag before finding some mascara that she had not yet used. She instructed the girl to open her eyes and her mouth so she could get the black makeup on her blonde eye lashes before she made the girl’s makeup both gory but still pretty.

Once Riley’s makeup was finished, Jenn grinned and said, “What do you think? Zombie enough?” She hoped that she had done a good job because even if she was called a zombie on a day-to-day basis because of her own strange style it was different. Now setting down to get herself ready, she looked back into her makeup bag to find a strangely coloured lipstick that she had bought just for this occasion. It was yellow and looked interesting against her fair skin. She put blush on and then her eye liner and mascara. As Riley asked her if she needed help, Jenn looked into her mirror and said, “Well I could use some help with my hair, if you want to.” Jenn pushed her blonde locks over her shoulder and said, “There’s just so much of it.” With a sheepish smile, she looked over at her friend and wondered if Riley would be able to help her.

A sigh of relief left Riley's lips as Jenn asked if she needed help, and proceeded to reach for her makeup bag. Taking a second look at the hideous eyeshadow and throwing it to the end of her bed. Riley had always admired Jennifer's makeup, whilst still admitting that she couldn't pull something like that off, but Jenn certainly could, and continued to, the night of the Hallowe'en feast being no exception. Sitting perfectly still, the blond girl let her dorm mate put all sorts of different colors and liquids upon her pale face, and fluttering her eyelashes as the mascara blackened them. With a touch of lipstick and the paleness of her face, Riley's makeup was finished and as she peered into the mirror she could hardly believe it truly was her, there was something so pretty about the goryness of it all, and with a smile of approval, Riley pouted her lips, one could only imagine how Kali would have teased her for finally wearing the stuff. The seventeen year old had never been one for makeup, unlike Jenn, and even her twin sister sometimes wore some, but the tom boy turned pretty girl had never imagined she could have pulled off such a look, but thanks to Jennifer it looked like she just had. "It looks amazing, I think I'm ready to go scare some first year butt, don't you think?" she replied, with a light chuckle, the feast sure was going to be fun this year, and Riley had a feeling she would remember this night for the rest of her life.

"You can say that again!" Riley replied to Jenn, seating her in front of the mirror like a hairdresser would and tousling the long blond hair through her fingers, meanwhile mumbling to herself about what she was to do with it all. Seizing some clips and an elastic band from her stash, Riley pulled Jennifer's long fringe off to the side and fastening it with a hair slide. Now to tame the rest of it. She thought to herself, secretly just a little jealous of how long and flowing her friend's hair had become. Pulling the bulk of it up into a knot she fastened it and finsihed of with some hairspray, hoping it would hold. Spying a hat over by Jennifer's bed she smiled a slightly cunning smile. "How about this?" she suggesting, seizing it and placing it lightly on Jenn's head and tilting her head to the side as she took in her handiwork, hoping it would be good enough, her friend really looked the part of beautiful, and it was true, they had an amazing night in store for them.
