Amanda walked through the courtyard, a light breeze in her face. Her black shoes were nice and clean. So was the rest of her Ravenclaw uniform. She found an open bench on the other side of the courtyard, and continued to walk towards it. Amanda bumped in to someone, and was about to apologize when she realized that she knew the girl. "Sorry, Kiara," she said. "How are you?"

Kiara walked with her head held high, no matter where she was and no
matter where she was going. Kiara almost tried to look proud and happy
so walking with a purpose helped her be sure that she was in fact looking
like someone who was proud. And being a slytherin, Kiara believed that
this was a good and somewhat necessary thing. Although, Kiara found the
uniform uncomfortable, so had gone ahead to completely change almost
everything about it. She was wearing a shirt, but it was more of a blouse
and her skirt was a small pencil skirt, rather than the pleated skirts most
others had to wear. Kiara had been sent all this in the post a few days
after arriving. Her parents had said they would send her the uniform, and
Kiara had done a bit of lying as to what the uniform was actually like. Kiara
had also been sent a pair of heels. Something she hadn't actually asked
for, and were causing immense pain, but her mother had thought it would
be useful for her to learn early on to wear heels. Kiara knew her mother
was just very pleased that Kiara was finally taking an interest in her
appearance. There was however one problem with Kiara and her uniform
and that was her personality did not quite suit what she'd been sent.
So, her shirt, was scruffy, and losely worn. Her skirt was worn with knee
high white socks, and her shoes, worn as they were. Black and plain. It
was all so she matched her hair. Kiara was walking through the courtyard
when she was bumped into. Kiara looked to the person. Who seemed to
know her. Kiara looked at the girl not sure how they knew each other. She
couldn't remember. Kiara didn't want to embarrass the girl too much,
But her Slytherinness did. She wondered what to do. But the girl was
expecting an answer. "Can I help you? I have no idea how you know
my name, but I don't remember you."
Her english accent came out harsh.
"I mean, I accept the apology, but Who on earth are you?" There
was no longer the sweet innocence that there had once been in Kiara's
voice.

SideNote: I'm making it so Kiara doesn't remember her.
The girl has a poor memory.

Amanda hid her disappointment. She looked at Kiara. She was a Slytherin. She didn't seem like a Slytherin when I last saw her, she thought. "Oh, it was quite a while ago," she said, casually. "I barely remember it myself. We met in a park once, when I was listening to my iPod and singing. If you could call it singing. I tried not to kill anyone's ears." Amanda cracked a joke. It would make the situation a little less awkward. She smiled a little. Slytherin didn't mean mean. Just ambitious, that was the trait for them. Kiara was still nice. She just didn't remember Amanda. That was it. Or at least that's what she kept telling herself.

As Kiara looked at the girl, her pale blue eyes took in
the fact that the girl was a Ravenclaw. Kiara wasn't
sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Kiara
wasn't sure if Ravenclaws and Slytherins were allowed
to be friends. She wasn't quite used to the whole snake
way of living. But as the girl spoke, Kiara remembered
who the girl actually was. Mandy, or Amanda. Something
like that. Something that was a nickname, or could
easily be made into one. "Oh, I remember" Kiara
said with a small smile. It was weird that the girl could
remember her. Kiara had never pinned herself as the
forgetful type. But so much else had been on her mind
old friends, or almost friends really meant nothing to her.
"It's Amanda right? Congratulations on Ravenclaw."
Kiara said, her soft English accent making her sound almost
sickly sweet. Maybe even fake. Kiara didn't really notice
and nor did she really care. She wanted to be Slytherin, and
live up to it's name. Although, Kiara was still looking for
friends. She might just not find it in Amanda.

Amanda nodded. "Yeah, I was kind of hoping for Ravenclaw," she said. This was only partly a lie. She had been hoping for Ravenclaw, but very much so. Way more than kind of. "And congrats on being sorted in to uh," she paused. "Slytherin. I mean, it's not like just because you're in a different house than me, we can't be friends any more. Besides, the quality for Slytherin is just ambitious. Not mean." Amanda's face turned a light shade of pink. She had said it out loud. Why did she have to have such a big mouth. She pinched herself. And couldn't wake up. Why can't life just give me a remote with a big, fat rewind button? she thought.

If Kiara was honest, she was quite interested in staying Amanda's
Friend. But, it seemed a little silly. They weren't really meant to be
friends. Kiara had to remember the Slytherin pride. She had to be
what she was expected. Ambitious and mean. But then Kiara wasn't
exactly the smartest tool in the box, and currently she had no real
ambitions. So having a Ravenclaw as a friend could always have it's
uses, and that was the true Slytherin way. Kiara smiled at Amanda.
Kiara could see how useful it would be for them to be friends. She
could not however see why Amanda would even want to be friends
with a Slytherin. Surely she knew that Slytherins were not just
ambitious, but so ambitious they would stop at nothing to achieve
there goal. Kiara in that sense was really no different. "Thank you.
If I'm honest, I was quite surprised. I never knew I of all people
was actually Slytherin material. It's quite the honor."
Kiara said
smiling at Amanda. Her english accent returned to it's usual soft
pleasant tones. "There is no reason, you're right. We can be friends.
Plus, Slytherin isn't exactly the easiest place to make friends. And
all the other houses sort of shun us. Having a smart Ravenclaw friend
would be amazing. How was the rest of your summer?"
Kiara
continued smiling at her new "friend".

Amanda felt a little bad for Kiara. Everyone was always so blind, thinking all Slytherins were mean. "Those people are dumb, then," she said. "The rest of my summer was pretty good. You wouldn't believe how many people I ran in to that are coming here now! But that's a good thing. How was the rest of your summer?"

Kiara had never really been properly mean to anyone. She was going
to try to be mean all the time. But pretending to be nice was probably
the best method to be properly mean. Kiara knew that Amanda was
most likely a lot more trusting of others than some, so she wasn't
too worried about being caught, and or Amanda realising what Kiara
was really doing. "My summer was busy. I was in Paris one week,
then London the other. And then back to New Zealand. By the end
of the summer, I was flying every other day, I had barely any time to
adjust to the time differences."
Kiara wasn't annoyed about how
much she had been moving around. "It meant I had no time to meet
others. But, I'm glad we meet before school. Which by the way, I'm
sorry about forgetting. Really. I felt like such ditz. Let me make it up
to you? How about Butterbeers on me, this coming weekend?"
