Padme had been enjoying being back at school. Though it was always a little hard to get back into the swing of things she liked it. She did a lot of reading at the beginning and let herself just enjoy the familiarity of the place. However today she wouldn’t be studying alone, she’d asked Jace if he wanted to revise together and was happy when he agreed. It wasn’t maybe the most fun they could have but it was necessary and she got the impression that Jace wanted to study too, he’d missed out on a bit and though he’d always been smarter than her, but she thought it would good to study with him, and help him get up to speed and motivate herself to study too. She had sent him a little note asking if he wanted study in the student lounge and had already found herself there. She had a few books laid out and some notes and she was just rewriting part of the history of magic essay waiting for him to appear.

Jace Blade was running late. He knew that Padme wouldn't mind, but he still wasn't very happy about it. They were only studying, but that wasn't any excuse to be late. He rushed down the corridors on his way to the lounge and stopped in front of his best friend. "Made it!" He told her with a grin, giving her a hug before taking a seat across from her. "Did you do much without me?" He asked, taking out his notes and the homework that he had already done so far, and passing them over to her. "Do you think you could check these for me?" He asked with a smile.

Padme never minded when Jace was a little late, there was a part of her that lingered and feared that he just wouldn’t turn up, but this was Jace and she knew he would stick to his word. Plus, she knew too, that she had to start being okay with someone being a little bit late for things. She looked up as he arrived and gave a little smile. She returned the hug with ease and then shook her head, ”Nope, not much, just got started,” Padme told him. She motioned to her books as if from what was written Jace might be able to see it. She nodded at it, and took the work. ”Sure Jace,” she knew Jace was smarter than her, but she knew that perhaps being a little away from school. ”How are finding it so far?” she asked as she began reading over his work.

Jace smiled at his friend as she confirmed that she hadn't done too much. He was glad that she hadn't been waiting a long time for him, he would hate to disappoint her and make her feel like he wouldn't be coming at all. But Jace was a man of his word and would never break it unless he had no other choice. Besides, it was Padme! Why would he give up the chance to see her? She was his best friend, and possibly one of the few that he had. Alghoughy he never really went outside and met other people very much so he could probably make more if he tried but he didn't see the need.

"Thanks! It's a bit harder than the last year, but that's to be expected. We're heading towards our OWLs so it's only going to get harder from here." He said with a half frown. He didn't know if he was ready for those exams, but he knew that Padme would be able to help him if he struggled and he would do the same for her. He spent a lot of his endless amounts of free time at home during the holidays reading all of the textbooks for the coming year. He smiled at her. "How about you?" He asked

Padme smiled at him, nodding lightly at his statement, this was a trickier year than the one before and she was sure it would just more and more difficult from then on out. They were heading towards the important exam years and Padme had expected the difficulty to increase and she didn’t mind it, they were learning so much magic, it was just great fun, even if it was a lot more difficult at times. ”I’m enjoying the challenge but it is a lot more work,” the Hufflepuff said with a little smile. She had never minded working hard - perhaps that was why she was in Hufflepuff rather than any of the other houses. She just wanted to do well and get through school without too much more drama. Drama was never something she liked, and the face she’d been a little involved in it wasn’t what she wanted. She made a few notes on the piece that Jace had shown her, using a new sheet of parchment to write them and then handed it back, ”It’s good work Jace, just a few points,” she told him with a smile. She looked back at her own work. ”What shall we cover today?”
