Her father is Tom Van der Linde; he works for the Ministry of Magic in the Department of International Magical Cooperation. He loves his job, meeting and traveling to other countries was also a dream of his.

Adrianne-Marie Van Muar-Van der Linde is Gwen’s mother. She works as a librarian in her local library. She pasted her love of books to Gwen who has spent the past three summers off of school helping at the Library when she is not invited to spend time with friends. Her mother died in her third year of schooling while Gwen was attending the original Hogwarts and she was at Home in Germany which made Gwen leave school and find a way home in order to see her mother one last time.

Gwen is tall for her age; she has a plain complexion, but a bright smile. She has dirty-blond hair that goes down to her mid-back and dark blue eyes.

Even though she’s taller than some of her classmates she finds herself as more of a wallpaper person. She loves to smile and have fun, making everyone’s day better instead of worse is what she lives for. Gwen acts very ditsy, and out there talks to nothing in particular when she’s thinking because she’s really just debating with herself but saying things out loud help her think a lot. You might find her naïve but she is really smart and has more common sense then she shows. She doesn’t like to stand out of the crowd, but if she feels the need she will. She’ll fight for what she believes in.

She doesn’t have any real special talents, but she can make almost anyone smile that she meets and talks to! She also loves to play piano; she doesn’t think she’s the best though. Gwen is basically a ditzy girl full of dreams

Gwen is interested in everything and anything; she often spends time walking around talking to herself about the things she sees.

She first found out that she had powers like her father when she dropped a book on the floor and has she reached down to the floor to grab she wished it would just pop back up like her father can do with his wand, so he never has to bend over, with his bad-back. To her surprise, the book wiggled back to her thought. It didn’t pop of the ground like she wanted but it startled her enough to run and tell her father and mother. Both her parents were so happy she has magical powers that they began to get ready for her first year.

Her favorite class is Potions, because she loves to make things out of nothing, but not change them. This makes Transfiguration her least favorite class.

Gwen's closest friend is Alois Eisler, she met him in a class they share when he fell asleep and she tried to wake him up. They spent the rest of the day and well into the night together having ups and downs but they got through it all.

Hikari Izumi is the only girl she is very close to besides her roommate. The two share a common bond of hatred towards girls who obsess over the part-veelas of the school.
