Sydney sighed and sat by the bank of the lake. Her bags had just been taken to her dorm. Sydney had transferred back to the New Zealand school at the request of her mother. During the Christmas holidays her mother had seen a change in Shaylah, her sister, and panicked. Tracy didn't like not knowing what was going on so, here Sydney was to find out.

Sydney lead back on the grass and sighed. She could feel her personalised uniform getting grass stains on it but, right this second, she couldn't really care less. It was weird not caring if her clothes got dirty but she was too tired too care right now.

Sydney liked it out by the lake, the sound of the water was nice, plus her sister came here a lot. No body had actually told Shaylah that Sydney was returning. In the hurry of packing and moving people had forgotten to warn the younger girl that Sydney was arriving. She really couldn't wait to see the look on her little sisters face when she sees her.

Shaylah walked down to the lake in some black school trousers and a white top. She was tired and couldn't be bothered to do her homework. She was in the sort of mood where she just wanted to sit down and think so that was what she was doing. The lake was the best spot for it because that was where she spent all her time. She could keep people away from there because they were scared of what she would do if they disturbed her and she had lots of memories from there. Most of them included Sydney.

Shaylah sighed when she thought of Sydney. She'd had a great time with her sister at christmas. It had been the first time Shay had seen her family since she they had gone to Scotland in September. Of course she missed them but she wasn't about to head off to Scotland to see them, especially seeing as she wanted to keep her grades up.

Shay got close enough to notice someone by the lake where she usually sat. She was just about to go over and sort them out when she noticed who it was. Her jaw dropped and she started running towards the girl. "Sydney!! What are you doing here?!" Shay was happy to see Sydney but she had no idea why she was here. "I mean...oh my god!!" She smiled and wrapped her arms around the older girl.

Sydney looked up at her sisers voice. She laughed at the reaction, it was as amusing as she though it would be. "Hey sis." She jumped upfrom her spot and hugged her. "Guess who got a transfer." It took a second bu Sydney then realised what Shaylah had just said. "Wait, did you just say Oh My God?!" Her sister really was changing.

Sydney remembered when she firrst met Shaylah, not as her sister but as a friend, she was a proper tomboy who hated fashion and dispised people who said "Oh My God!". It was a surprise that they got along at all at first really. Sydney being all about the fashion and the girly and Shaylah being against it all the way.

Shaylah was so glad that she finally had someone female to keep her sane in this hell hole. The only people she really talked to much were Ryker and Teddy. Everyone else was either no one to her or she barely ever talked to them. She frowned slightly at her sister when she heard what she said. "Umm...yeah. Why??" She didn't understand why Syd was being like that. Shay knew she had changed but saying Oh My God wasn't exactly anything new...was it??

Shay tried to look past that. "Anyway, hows mum and Marcus and the twins?? It's been ages. I can't wait for the winter holidays so I can go and see them again." Shay wondered how much bigger the twins had gotten since she last saw them three months ago. They seemed to be growing so fast. "And why did you transfer?? Didn't you like that other school??"

Sydney laughed. "The first time we met you gave such a dodgy look for saying OMG. You really are spending a lot of time with me and mum aint you?" She smiled, it seemed the changes in Shay were from her new home life more than anything else. Tracy should be happy to hear there wasn't anything drastic going on.

Sydney smiled at the mention of their home family. "Marcus is still being a little brat. Tony's starting to put him in his place though. It's hilarious." Sydney liked Tony, he was a friend of his mums from school. Apparently he was Jays' best mate as well, they all hung out and he had a load of funny stories to tell, and some disterbing ones. "The midgets are growing like crazy. Kai is walking now, Calli is still crawling but she's more trouble. She tries to eat things." Malakai and Calliopa were twins but they were nothing alike. Calliopa looked sweet but caused trouble and Malakai looked like a litte devil but was the sweerest little boy.

Sydney shrugged when Shaylah asked why. "Mum had a mini hissy fit when you came home. You may not have noticed but you've changed loads. She wanted me to make sure nothing big was going down up here." She knew her mum was a bit mental, she did have a load of people to worry about. The twins needed loads of attention, Marcus wanted laods of attantion and herself and Shaylah were away most of the year at school.

Shaylah shrugged. "That was three years ago. A lot's happened since then. I'm growing up and learning the ways of life." Shay laughed. "And I've been with you and mum as well." Shay knew how much being around Syd and her mum had changed her. They were both fashion gurus and she had always been a complete tomboy but now fashion was showing through her tomboyness.

Shaylah was about to comment on Marcus's brattyness when Sydney commented on some guy named Tony. Shay recognised the name from somewhere but she expected there were probably plenty of guys named Tony. If anything then it was probably one of the guys in the stories her dad used to tell her about but she doubted it. "Wait, who's Tony??" She wondered why Marcus was letting a guy tell him what to do. Jay had tried that once and ended up with some complete stranger having a go at him.

Shaylah shook her head at Sydney. "I know I've changed but not that much. I've got a few new clothes and I act a bit different but that's it. It's not like I'm turning green or anything." Shay rolled her eyes at how much her family worried about her. "Mum really needs to stop worrying. I'm fine."

Sydney laughed along with Shaylah. She didn't realise that Shaylah hadn't met Tony yet, Tracy had only reconnected with him three days after Christmas and they had started dating about a month after that. "He's a friend of Mum and Jays' from Hogwarts. He knew them back when they were dating the first time. Mum and Tony have been going out for about a month and a half."

Sydney smiled, Tony was great with the twins and he put Marcus in his place."You know, you are looking a bit green." She joked arond with Shaylah. Sydney was more than happy to be back with her sister. Hogwarts in Scoland hadn't really worked out that well for her. New Zealand hadn't much either but it had her family in.

Usually Shaylah would have hated the fact that Tracy was going off with someone other than her dad but Tony was an exception, he was a friend of Jay's. "Oh right. What's he like??" He must have been a special guy if he could put up with her mum every day. After all, she did like being the boss. Shay was used to it and she didn't really mind but men tended to like being in charge of the house.

Shaylah laughed. "At least I'd fit in with the Slytherin common room if I was." She nudged Syd as she joked. "Are you staying here this time or are you going to go back to Scotland with mum??" Shay wanted to know if Syd was sticking around or whether Tracy would make her go back to Scotland once she realised Shay was fine.

Sydney smiled. "He's cool. A lot like Jay, slightly funnier. He can put Marcus in his place that's for sure, and he's really good with the twins too." She liked Tony, he was a cool guy and her mum really liked him. Not to mention he was prety well off, enough to take her shopping anyway.

Sydney lauged along wih her sister. She had missed these times. "I'm staying here. Scoland is basically the same place, only difference is here I got my sister." She smiled and nudged the younger, and smaller, girl. She gave her sister another hug before taking a seat on the grass where she was before.

Shaylah wrapped her arms around Syd again when her sister hugged her. She then sat down next to her, glad that Tracy had some way of getting her mind off of Jay. "Good. There was no way I was going to say sorry to you again. This place is hell when there's no one decent to talk to. Most of the people here are complete creeps." Shay hated having to spend every day with these people. She just wanted to get away, even if it was only for a short time.

Shay leant back on her hands and crossed her legs. "Tony sounds like a great guy. I can't wait to meet him. He'd have to be great to be friends with dad. He only goes for the best." Shay had always known that. She had inherited that sort of thinking from him. She never bought anything unless it was the best.
