Growing Up

Kiera Potter was in her new kitchen in her new house. James had bought the pair a house close to her father and her coach as a wedding surprise. He had told her about it on their honeymoon and she couldn't have been happier. Everything was going smooth for the young couple which was a change. Her relationship with James had been a rocky road until they got married. Now, she was the envy of many of James' adoring teenage fans.

A few weeks prior, Kiera had sent an Owl to her friend and old roommate Alexis Richarde. The other girl was currently in the UK for university. However, Kiera had told her of the new house and invited her over the next time she was in town. Alexis had responded much to Kiera's delight. The former Gryffindor often got lonely when James was out of town. She was very pleased to be seeing her friend today.

Kiera took out the chocolate cake out of the oven. She hurried to put icing on it, cooling it down with her wand. She was just finishing up the cake as she waited on Alexis.

Alexis was more then relieved to be at home with her family. She needed time to be with them because she felt just so damn tired. More then ever she needed her family since she wasn't seeing her best friend. It felt like she hadn't rested in a long time and since the day that she got home she had either been with her mother and father or asleep. Of course this was only for the weekend but it felt so much longer to her because of all the sleep she was getting.

When she had actually pulled herself out of bed for some breakfast, which everything seemed to be this weekend, she found a letter from Kiera on the extravagant dining table. Alexis smiled softly to herself and wrote her back quickly, letting her know that she was actually at the home she had been raised in and that she would drive over soon enough.

Alexis didn't bother to do anything with her make up or hair, she didn't care enough to, and just changed into a pair of shorts and a v-neck shirt before searching for the keys to her Jeep which took about ten minutes before her little sister suggested using her wand and rolled her annoying little green eyes at her.

When she had gotten her wand and summoned the keys she got into her car and drove towards Kiera's house, relieved that the traffic was near none-existent unlike most of the time. And when she pulled up to the house, Alexis sighed, knowing she would have to put on a smile and endure her friends happiness which gave her an ache deep in her belly.

Alexis honestly couldn't think of a place she wanted to be less. What she wanted was to be back in her dorm with Lewis, watching him brew potion after potion as he usually did for his own study to be a healer. She just wanted a friend who didn't have a relationship and wasn't fixated on it. Of course she wouldn't be that selfish, Kiera was afterall still a newly wed, no matter when she had first been married to James. But she knew that her car had probably been heard as it rolled in the driveway and there was absolutely no turning back no, so she walked towards the door and with a great and heavy sigh she rang the doorbell.

Kiera sprinted to the front door as she heard Alexis ring the doorbell. She was dressed in very casual clothes for this afternoon. Kiera grinned as the large front door swung open to reveal her friend.

"Alexis!" Kiera squeeled as she pulled the other girl into a hug. "I'm so glad you could make it! I hope you didn't have any problems finding the house?"she asked as she stepped back to let the other girl in the house. Kiera's eyes scanned her friend. She had been wondering how Alexis had been doing since she broke up with Izaak and went to university.

Kiera smiled as she lead Alexis to the kitchen. "Are you hungry?" she inquired. "I made a chocolate cake when I got your owl back. I'm so glad your in town this week." she said brightly.
