Greetings to the oldest of friends

It had truely been an interesting year, the house seemed empty after the boys had moved out. Adele was out most days and Lowan with her for most of the most days which meant that Riley was left to entertain himself during the day when he was not working in the shop. But alas this was just one of them things which the werewolf had gotten used to after a while. Although it did mean that Riley had more freedom to go out and enjoy himself, he often met up with some of his friends and just went drinking with them. Behaving himself like a good husband should, at least he saw Adele at night when she came in. It was strange how empyt the house was now that Logan and Mark had moved out, he did miss them greatly infact he even missed Logans two dogs. Maybe he should buy himself a dog for company. The thought brought a smile to Rileys face as he drank his coffee.

Standing back up again with a huge feeling of bordom Riley found himself with nothing to do. House work, done. Well that was about it really there was nothing else to do in the house. The only thing which was keeping him inside was the fact that he was expecting his old friend Cyndi to arrive at some point. He had not seen her a quite a while and he was anxcious to find out how she had been doing and if anything new had happened in her life which he had not heard about yet. It was always nice to catch up with his long time best friend and short time partner a very long long time ago, it was strange where life leads you then leaves you. Still he had settled down and he couldnt have asked for anything more than what he had now. He led down of the sofa, face in pillow moaning to himself out of bordom as the clock ticked away the second in thhe background

Under normal circumstances, Cyndi would have apparated to Riley's home. She wasn't particularly fond of that method of travel, but she could of course appreciate how much easier it made life. Still, once Cyndi was dressed and ready to head out, she left her home and headed over to the pub near her home to use their floo. Her and Cameron's home was in a wizarding area, so the floo was used by many who were heading to the other wizarding areas. After greeting the elderly owner of the establishment and speaking to him for several moments, the young woman headed to the fireplace. Shouting out the area closest to her dear friend's home, Cyndi emerged from the floo and dusted herself off. When she was satisfied that her hair contained no soot, the young woman began the short walk to her friend's home.

It had been a while since she had seen him last, and as Cyndi walked she realized that she and Riley seemed to be drifting apart as friends. That was why she had quickly responded to accept his invitation. In her 24 years, Cyndi had already lost a great many friends- one, immediately after graduation, never to be heard from again;another, dead before she got the chance to truly live; another disappeared and rumored to be living on some island somewhere. Cyndi was hopeful that none of that would happen to Riley though. He had Adele and Lowan to keep him grounded. Walking up their walkway, Cyndi knocked gently on the door and waited. She had a small bag in her hand, a present for her godson.

Brining his legs up on the the sofa Riley made himself comfertable as he sut his eye for a few seconds, it was mear days until the next full moon was to come and he wanted all the relaxation time he could get before he was down in the dumps again and bedridden for a day or two. It was still a major annoyance in his life but that was all it was, just an annoyance that he could live his life around. Now that Adele was at ease with it and there was no concern for the safety of their son things were just as easy as ever. There was nothing for either of them to worry aout, Adele didn't need to worry about his old habbits and new conditions and he didn't have to worry about what was worrying her. All good.

As he sighed in calmness he heard a knock at the door. His eyes strait open Riley hopped of the sofa and headed in the direction of the door. It should be Cyndi by now, he was not expecting anyone else really except his family to come home but it was a bit early yet and they were mpst likely at the park or somewhere exciting like that. As he opened the door Riley gave a big grin to see his long term best friend. "I thought you would never get here Cyndiloo." He said jokily spreading his arms to embrace her in a friendly hug. He had not seen her in so long it was truely great to have her at his house again. After all where would be now without her. He owed her more than she could ever know. "Come in, how are you?" He asked moving out of the door way to let her in.

A wide grin crossed the woman's face as the door opened and she came face to face with her ex-roommate. In the little while since they'd seen each other last, Riley had grown older and more mature looking. Gone were any traces of being a child. Placing the bag she was carrying beside her, Cyndi entered his embrace and gave her friend a big squeeze. Laughing, she replied, "It's good to see you too, Riley."Picking up her bag, Cyndi held it out to the man as she entered the home. "This is for Lowan. I bet he must be really big by now. I hope I got the right size" she worried. Last time she had seen him, he'd barely begun walking. By now, he must be doing that and more.

Hearing little noise, Cyndi quickly realized that Adele and Lowan must be out. She was certain that if Adele was home, she would surely know. The woman talked like no one Cyndi had met before. "It's been so long, Riley. You have to tell me how you all have been" she spoke, eager to catch up on news and gossip from her friend. Riley led an exciting life, partly his own doing and partly because of things beyond his control like his being a werewolf. Cyndi had no idea how close the full moon was, another fact that let her know how long it had been. In the past, it was something she had kept close track of.

As the pair hugged Riley again remembered how he had missed her being around. He could still remember when they shared a flat and he would always make sure to be home when she was. It was strange to think back that long ago, it must have been around four years since they moved out and Riley moved in with Adele when he had bought this house. It should be a great membory but his first night in the house was not a good one. "Im sure it will, anything this cute has too." He said with a grin on his face. "He's four now, and getting funnier every day." He saiad thinking on some of the things which Lowan came out with. Not a day went past when the kid did'nt make him laugh. "He wakes up in the morning and looks over to me and Adele and goes, hello baby." He said laughing. He would have to bring Lowan to Cyndi's place soon, he didn't care if her man didn't like it they were family now and Lowan was more or less like Cyndi's family.

"Iv been okay, busy with Quidditch and the shop. Adele goes out a lot with Lowan so im left with my own company now that Mark and Logan have moved away." He said scratching the back of his neck. he didn't want Cyndi to get the wrong impression of Adele going out all the time with Lown and leaving him behind. Infact it was his idea to get her out of the house more, she seemed to spend so much time inside and he wanted to get out more and Loan was the best motivation for her. "Can i get you a drink or anything?" He asked seeing her intto the living room. He felt like having a cup of tea right now, strong with two sugars, perfect. He placed the bag which Cyndi had given him and put it on the table in front of the sofa.

Cyndi wasn't surprised to hear that Lowan was a comedian. She'd received the pictures that Adele had sent a while back and Lowan was looking more and more like his father every day. It was no surprise that he would behave like his father. She was glad that all was well in the Smith home. "How cute. You three have to come over for dinner tonight. It'll be good for Cameron to be around a child" she said with a smile as she followed Riley into the living room. It would be good for Cyndi to spend more time around children as well actually.

Cyndi settled herself on the sofa and replied. "Some water would be fine." The woman looked around for a moment and then settled back on Riley. "Yea, quidditch has been going well for you, huh? I follow your games" she said with a grin. The professor had an old wizarding radio in her office that she often listened to while grading papers and working on her headmistress duties. "Cameron's sister just had twins a couple of months ago"she shared casually and then quickly added, "and before you ask, I'm not pregnant yet." The woman had been hearing that question a lot from her mother who was eager for a grandchild. Cyndi had laughed it off at first, but now it was a bit annoying. It would happen when it happened and not a moment sooner. With Cameron as busy as he was and Cyndi as busy as she was, she wasn't sure that it was the right time for them to have a child.
