Lucy had always loved Halloween, but this year she had outdone herself. She felt like all eyes were on her bright costume as she entered the hall, scanning the other costumes around her. Her schoolmates always looked incredible, but Lucy felt like a bright pink beacon as she made her way into the room, doing her best to maneuver her sprinkle-bedazzled costume through without bumping into anyone or anything. She felt cute, she felt silly, and it was just how she wanted to feel. Sure it was fun to be spooky, but as far as Lucy was concerned it was much more fun to be silly. She looked around for any familiar faces and quickly spotted Hazel, making a beeline for the Slytherin. "O M G, you look so pretty!" She squealed, trying and failing to curtsey. "Your majesty."

Hazel wished she had tried a little harder to make a cool and different costume, but she had run out of time. She at least had a big poofy dress she had decorated with glitters, but she still felt a little understated and boring. She felt a stab of jealousy when she saw Hazel coming over to her in an amazing costume. She wished she looked that cool and had sprinkles on her outfit. She must have worked very hard on it. "Thanks!" She said, forcing a smile. She twirled around in her dress, at least happy with how the glitters on the skirt looked as she did. "You look amazing too! Your- sprinklesty." She said after a beat.

Lucy squeed as she watched Hazel twirly, clapping her hands in delight. "It's so sparkly! You look amazing!" She felt a little silly in such a goofy costume, while her friend looked so elegant. "Thank you!" She giggled at the compliment. "It's so hard not to bump into stuff though."

Hazel felt a little better after Lucy complimented her, but she still knew Lucy was definitely standing out more. She smiled. "Maybe I can be your eyes, or like... steer you." She said with a laugh. "Should we try to go into the tent?" She asked, eager to do something. "Or do you want to eat snacks first?"

Lucy giggled at Hazel's offer, nodding. "Oh, yes please. I feel like I'm gonna smack one of the first years in the head and not even notice." She laughed. She nodded quickly when Hazel suggested going to the tent. "Let's do it! We can eat once we've been spooked." She giggled.

Hazel put her hands on Lucy's shoulders and steered her as they walked in the direction of the tent. "Did you make this yourself?" She asked, trying- and failing not to be jealous of her costume still. "Over break? Did your family help?" She kept a bright smile on her face as she asked the questions, making their way over to the tent. They stopped outside it. "I guess you can't do apple bobbing though. Too bad."
