Amelia Colthorpe was having a bad hair day but for any stranger to look at her, they most certainly
wouldn't think so. Her dark brown tendrils flowed in luxuriant waves down her back but the problem
was she had spent the best part of twenty minutes attempting to straighten the unruly mop but to
no avail. With a sigh she let it be and slipping on a cream drop waist dress and shoes to match,
Mia blew a kiss to her parents and headed off to London.

Her parents didn't mind her going near the muggle stores, they had taken her themselves often so she
she could apprise herself of the strangeness that were muggles. Instead Mia discovered a love for
their quirky clothes and inventions that roared up and down the streets. It bothered her that the
could so willingly pollute the world the way they did but it was not her place to speak out about
such things though she had every intention of doing so when she was older. Ever the activist Mia
prided herself on the many clubs she had joined in Hogwarts to push various projects she was
passionate about. The latest was the debacle she had incited about the differences in the prefects
bathroom to everyone else. Her family may have been wealthy but she was not in favour of elitist
groups having better facilities than everyone else.

Today however she could put all of that behind her, she was going shopping with her best friend in
the entire universe. Indianna and Mia had met many years ago while they had both lived in France,
they had become instant best friends so that when Mia's family told her they were moving to England;
she had cried for what seemed like days. Those tears seemed so ridiculous now considering that
Indianna now resided in the cold rainy land of Merry Olde England too. They often met up to go on
shopping trips and when at school, they wrote constantly to one another. She felt today, she really
needed her best friends help though. The Yule Ball was coming up and she had every intention of
asking a boy to it, the first time she had ever done so.

She finally arrived at their meeting place glad that she didn't look so out of place as many witches
and wizards did when they ventured to the muggle world. Glancing at her watch she saw she was
still a little early herself, it was rare for either of them to be late when meeting one another especially
for a shopping trip.

<SIZE size="50">Being back home in England had swept a change across Indianna Grace, to converse in
a language she was comfortable in speaking fluently felt as if a weight had been stripped
from her shoulders. To wake up that morning before the sun had smeared tones of pink
across its canvas in the sky had Indianna all smiles and grins atop the strong back of her
pony. Yet the day had seemed to fold into itself there afterwards in sheer anticipation of
the reunion she’d be sharing with Mia later on. Though, while at school Indi had Falcon
and may have even dared to say that she missed his company a bit, no one would ever
be able to top a girl’s best friend and would be a damn fool to even consider an attempt.
Because Indi and Mia especially were as thick as thieves, stronger than any blood bond
between a pair of sister and had been for as long as the Latina-blooded girl could recall.

The heels of her lace-up boots clicked briskly against the streets of London as they tried
their shot at manoeuvring their way through a band of men clad smartly in their business
suits and probably, she guessed to herself, on their way back from a lunch break. There
were many of them with the last clouds of their smoko wafting out behind their shoulders
and the potent scent felt soupy on Indi’s skin. She ducked her head, fearfully as she was
reminded nauseously of her dad, and pressed her way on through their lack of vibrancy,
their showcase of grey. Javier, although he haunted her thoughts constantly, was not a
man Indianna ever brought into conversation and those that knew her well enough had
learnt not to pry with questions by now. Mia of course knew everything. Then again how
could she not when she had been the shoulder Indi had turned to on the nights her dad
had come home rowdier than usual? Slurred speech, abusive language, heavy blows to
her mother and even herself at times, before dropping unconscious into his own puddle
of despicability. Yes, Mia knew it all, every last gruesome detail and the affect it had on
Indianna and her distrust for all things men. But even that was a topic rarely touched.

Loose raven curls tumbled and shimmered beneath the sun as the young girl gave but a
swift shake of her head, dismissing such depressive thoughts from mind, then adjusted
her sunglasses as a pair of mix and match irises poured through the people passing by
to find the taller form of her friend. Yet the moment she had come to the conclusion that
it was still a little earlier for Mia to be here, Indianna spied a gorgeous mane of curls and
knew that it could be no one else. “Miaaaa!” Came a squeal from a little way across the
path and despite the rouge in her cheeks, Indianna rushed forward to catch her friend in
a tight embrace against her. “Oh it’s been forever!” And for Indianna, it really had.

Mia was fascinated with the various
fashions that passed by her; she was used to it all now but still the
many different varieties always managed to startle it. There were so
extreme and diverse, a couple dressed almost identically walked past,
both wearing denims and deep mauve tops the lady donned a blouse
while the man wore a v-neck ti shirt. Another few gentlemen passing
wore suits, very dour and though she had no doubt that they
were expensive, here she felt the muggle race simply got it wrong.
She liked the wizarding suits and the classy robes that they wore.
Somehow these men merely looked half dressed to her without a
decent robe to cover their clothing. The women were a motley bunch
of colour and design, heels varying from extremely flat to thin towering
feet aching styles. Mia often wore a nice sedate heel herself, not
prepared to break her neck for anyone in a pair of shoes that made
her so much taller than what she was. There was no point after all
in towering over the majority of boys she knew.

As she waited she received a few appreciative glances and even
a few whistles which caused her to bristle. This she had always
thought to be rude and vulgar of the male race, girls certainly didn't
go out of their way to whistle at boys if they found them attractive.
To her delight her thoughts were interrupted by the unmistakable
squeal of her name, turning around she grinned from ear to ear.
"Indiiii!" she could careless who heard her or that faces were so
obviously turning to look at the two best friends. They were extremely
striking and not just because they looked beautiful in anything they
wore but they were simply just beautiful girls.

Mia raced to meet Indianna half way and embraced her as affectionately
in return.
"Oh a weekend feels like forever" she smiled releasing Indi and linking
her arm through hers as they instantly fell into step alongside one
another. Mia felt some times that even a day away from her best friend
felt like forever, but at least when they did meet up now it was to fill
each other up on all the intricacies of their lives, all the nitty gritty details
that no one else would have the privilege of hearing.
"I hope you have your shopping shoes on because I feel as if we could
be here all day. I have to get a dress for the Yule Dance"
she smiled,
glancing at Indi as she mentioned the dance. Mia was notoriously renowned
for missing these type of events, always insisting before that they were
nothing more than a cattle market of flesh and fashion and yet now, she
had every intention of attending.
