This year Nik knew what to expect from the date since he was going with Brooke again. It seemed like their thing to do, talk once before the ball and then go together to it, and just hope that everything will work out because they know absolutely nothing about each other apart from what they've observed before and then at the ball could at least find out more about each other. It was at least something already and it meant that they had themes to talk about and he didn't have to worry about it. Also, he was glad that he knew about Brooke's dress color since he knew how to coordinate with his suits. And now he was standing in one of his suits and waited for Brooke to come over, he was interested in how her dress was going to look and how the evening was going to go.

Brooke was more than ready for this nightmare semester to finally be over. She was due a fresh start and tonight would hopefully be a perfect end to a horrible string of months. She'd spent careful time smoothing out all the imperfections in her look before heading up to the hall, glad that Niklaus had been free to go with her. He'd been the exact safe bet she needed right now, something simple and expected to make this evening go reliably well so she could at least mark tonight down as a success if nothing else so far this year.

"Hey, thanks for waiting," Brooke said with a smile as she met up with Nick, brushing a non-existent piece of out of place hair behind her ear. "Looking sharp as always," she added with an approving nod, holding out an arm so they could head inside. "I was thinking we should dancing again this year, that was a lot of fun last time," Brooke said, already scanning the hall to see who was here, who they were with, and what they were wearing.

Nik felt better with the fact that the semester was coming to the end, however, the problem that appeared was that he started to miss his CoMC classes, yet, he wasn't going to talk about it with Brooke. Or anyone. "Yeah, wouldn't leave without you," he offered an answer and a short, approving smile of her outfit. "Not as ravishing as you," Niklaus politely offered and then took her arm carefully, trying to be as gentle and polite as he could. As he always did. "As you desire, and yes, it was, fun. This year should be more fun since this time we aren't just blind guessing if we are gonna get along or not," he chuckled lightly, hoping that he won't break his role with talking that much at one time. "Oh, a slow dance," he quietly mumbled when the new song came in, yet, not stepping back from dancing. He carefully put his hands a bit above her waist, trying to absolutely respect her and not to overstep her comfort zone.

Brooke knew Niklaus was probably just being polite in returning the compliment, but she still felt her cheeks heat up at being described as 'ravishing'. This had definitely been the right choice for the evening, she decided, letting herself relax just a bit as they entered the hall proper. "I like to think I get along with everyone, but some people prove better company than others," she said coyly, turning to face Niklaus as they got ready to dance right as the music changed. She slipped her hands in his, unable to resist glancing at some of the other couples dancing nearby. No one looked as on form as they did, Brooke knew her movements were as carefully practiced as anyone, but she couldn't help a pang of jealousy to see there were some, despite their sloppy dancing, who seemed to be having a lot more fun. "So uh-" Brooke faltered, uncharacteristically unsure what to say as she moved easily with Niklaus and the music. Small talk was usually her forte, but she was suddenly unsure if she wanted to push past surface level with Niklaus tonight or not. "Looking forward to heading home? Or do you stay here over the Summer? I suppose a lot of your family is already here."
