Arielle was enjoying her first semester at Hogwarts, and she couldn't have been happier to be studying in such a place - in a castle. With lots of people around and some her own age, which to the young triplet meant many opportunities to befriend others and get to know them. She told herself as strictly as possible that she had done a lot of exploring already and that now she would have to get some reading done, because Arielle certainly was not planning to fall behind with her homework. She hated disappointing those older than her, adults in particular. Teenagers were slightly different although still older than her. The Gryffindor had been raised as polite and she didn't like conflict and to be known as someone who didn't do what they were meant to do. Besides, she wanted to do well. It was why she was heading to the library, now that her English had improved, to get a head start and maybe, just maybe, she could even try to read ahead of next week's homework or reading and be more prepared than she was expected to be. She was no star student, but she tried her hardest to do her very best in everything. Once she had taken a seat on one of the couches, Arielle cracked her Charms textbook open and began to read, not even noticing that someone else had already occupied the space next to her. The thought that Arielle could be invading someone's privacy hadn't crossed her mind. She was too engrossed in what she was doing to pay it much attention.

With his journal and a pen with him, Jacob walked to the library. He didn't want to study he wanted to write, it was something he didn't want to lose at Hogwarts. He found the best couch he found and sat himself down. From this spot he could see and observe everyone and write about his day. He knew people mainly wrote with quills, but he didn't like having to bring an ink pot with him to write something. If you were sitting on a couch the ink pot had nowhere to go. It was annoying and Jacob didn't like writing with feathers. Jacob currently observed a pair of students to the left of him. They were odd and Jacob found that highly interesting. He muttered and wrote in his journal. He documented every day in this book and each time a book was full he stored it into his case.

When Jacob was looking at the pair of students he felt the couch move. When he looked there was a girl sitting next to him. Someone had also deemed this couch as the best place to sit apparently. The girl was blocking his amusing view of the students he was observing and it annoyed him a bit. ''Hello'' Jacob muttered, he wasn't much of a talker, but he just wanted to have the girl go away. That needed some talking, he was here first, so she had to go.

Arielle hadn't noticed anyone was next to her until the person spoke to her and she jumped a little, smiling in embarrassment as she closed her book and placed it on her lap. She glanced to the side and noticed it was a boy in her year, someone she recognised from Flying. She turned to him and said, "Hey," wondering for a second if he wanted to be left alone by the tone of his voice. "Sorry, I didn't realise anyone was sitting here already," she apologised. She would move if the boy didn't want her there - she could just sit on the other couch. Though this was an opportunity to get to know someone from her grade, finally. Maybe he was just shy.

The girl was sitting now anyway, he could hardly say she had to move over at this moment. Jacob wondered how you couldn't see someone sitting next to you. Maybe that was only how he thought about it.''Eh, doesn't really matter now anyway'' Jacob said while looking at his journal. He wrote some things down and gave the girl more space so she could also sit properly.

Since the girl didn't seem to go anywhere Jacob decided that he at least should introduce himself. ''I am Jacob'' he muttered almost out of context. He had seen the girl in classes and she didn't seem that bad.

Arielle raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips as the boy said it didn't matter now, and she shrugged to herself, feeling a little bad about not asking the boy before if he was okay with her sitting there. If she could have just looked up instead of burying her nose in her book. She wondered if he did still mind, and even then he could have simply asked her to leave. It was nice of him to give her some more space, though she didn't really need it. "Nice to meet you Jacob, my name is Arielle Marchand," she introduced herself politely, her thick French accent unavoidable as she sent a smile in his direction. "What are you writing?" Arielle asked curiously, not thinking it was anything private.

One thing that Jacob immediately noticed was that this girl wasn't from New Zealand or Australia for that matter. She had this very thick accent that Jacob recognized as French. Not that he had been to France in his life, but when a French person speaking English came on the TV it sounded exactly like the girl did. Jacob smiled, it did sound pretty cool. When the girl asked what he was writing Jacob didn't know what to say. How bad must it sound that he liked to follow people and write them down in a journal. ''It an eh..journal'' That sounded a lot better than to exactly explain what he was writing. Now the girl could fill it in for herself. ''Isn't there a Wizarding school in France?'' Jacob didn't know another subject to talk about so he opted for the first thing that came to his mind. He didn't even know if there were others schools than this one. He presumed there were since some countries didn't speak English.
