Athena didn’t know what to do now. She had broken up with her boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend now, which put her in a pretty sour mood. She felt like she had changed from years ago, when she arrived to Hogwarts, she knew she definitely had. She was still getting to know her new self, which surprisingly was the person she preferred to be, she had matured into realising how foolish and selfish she used to be. Okay, so sometimes she was still a bit selfish and arrogant, seeking attention, but now she had different reasons to do so. Now, she hardly had friends and felt invisible. Well, she had gotten the position of sisterhood president, along with Emilia Manning, which was actually really nice of October. She hadn’t expected it all. But for some reason she hadn’t seen nor heard from Jasmine in a while, let alone Grayson. They were her best friends. Antonio was somewhere else doing something he probably wasn’t supposed to do, but Athena didn’t care right now. She loved her brother, but he could be so distant at times. Rarely, though at the moment he was.

What was worse, her father was treating her like a child, his precious daughter - always showering her with gifts, which frankly was rather exhausting. She hadn’t expected not to want to be spoiled like this, after all she was so used to it. However it did not make her feel any better. The blonde didn’t feel like socialising right now, especially not with annoying younger students, so perhaps the abandoned classroom would have to do. She climbed the stairs from the dungeons and was soon on the second floor, wanting to just spend some time alone with her thoughts and her sketchbook. She opened the door and slipped in, hoping no one would want to share it with her. Otherwise, she would have to find somewhere else to go in peace. Athena opened her sketchbook and began to draw. She sighed, feeling a bit tired. She had been a fool to think Liam was going to like her and only her. It was best they’d broken up, though that didn’t stop the Slytherin from feeling resentful. She had been so stupid and she let Liam charm her. It was humiliating.

Most of the time Grayson felt like he was on autopilot as he made his way through school. He hadn't seen much of his friends lately, with Athena spending most of her time with her boyfriend, he and Antonio not really being that friendly and he wasn't sure what his sister Jasmine was up to, he just knew she was off in her own world somewhere. There had been hope of something happening between himself and Chante, they had enjoyed each others company and he had attended her mothers wedding over the holiday. There had certainly been something between the pair and they had some fun over the holidays but whatever it was had fizzled out before it could become anything long term.

Now back at the school Grayson found himself wondering aimlessly as he had the previous year. There seemed little reason to change his habits. The Gryffindor found himself on the lower floors wondering down quiet corridors when he heard the opening and closing of a classroom door on the other side of the hall. From what he knew all the rooms in that part of the corridor were not in use so it begged the question, who had it been and what were they doing? With nothing better to do Grayson set off down the corridor to investigate. He came to the door of the infamous abandoned classroom and pushed it opened slightly so he could poke his head round to see who was inside. "Athena?!" Grayson was surprised to see the blonde inside, after all he had just been thinking how he hadn't seen her in so long. He opened the door fully so he could walk in to join her. "What are you doing in here?"

Athena turned around with a surprised expression on her face as she saw who had called out her name. Naturally, she hadn’t heard the door open, which she probably would have had she been paying more attention to her surrounding s But the girl was tired and she didn’t even want to think anymore. She had even stopped wondering why on earth October had given her the position of sisterhood president along with Emilia. She could see Emilia leading the club, since she was so much more social than the slytherin, but her? Nah. She gave Grayson a small smile as he approached her, feeling relieved that it was him who found her and not anyone else. "Hey," she greeted. "Oh, uh, nothing. Just drawing," she said, swiftly closing her sketchbook so that the Gryffindor wouldn’t see she had been sketching her family and the Wolfe twins. It would be awkward. "How have you been? Why haven’t I heard from you in a long time, mister?" she enquired, trying to sound firm and like the adult in the room as she poked his chest with her finger.

Grayson laughed as Athena interrogated him as to why she hadn't seen him around. She was one to talk, she was the one who had been off with her boyfriend. Grayson had never understood what had made Athena think she could make someone like Liam commit to one girl, of course Grayson also couldn't understand why anyone who had Athena would want anyone else. "You were busy with your boyfriend," He shrugged as he leaned against the table next to her. "and I've been...well just around, busy you know?" Grayson didn't mention Chante, it had happened and ended without Athena knowing about it so it didn't seem like the time to bring it up. "I missed you though,"

Athena didn’t know what she had expected to hear from Grayson, but it definitely wasn’t that. She smirked at him, she wasn’t sure if what she heard in his tone was correct, though it seemed that her dear Gryffindor friend was jealous. She decided to ask him outright, since she was comfortable enough around him to ask harmless questions. Or she hoped it wasn’t a big deal. "Is that jealousy I hear?" she taunted lightly, but still with a smile on her features. She didn’t want him to think she was being serious, or something. "Just busy?" she asked with raised eyebrows. "I missed you too," she said a moment later, nudging him with her elbow. She desperately wanted to forget about what happened, but no matter how much she didn’t want to, the thought of Liam kept coming back and the more she thought about it the more it made her angry. "Ugh," she scoffed, not at anything her friend said, but at the other Slytherin. She had been such a fool. Suddenly, she threw her sketchbook across the room, out of anger. She hated how charming Liam thought he was.

"Pfft, no," Grayson denied a little too dramatically. He wasn't jealous, at least not anymore. In the beginning of Athena's relationship with Liam the Gryffindor had felt something he later came to understand as jealousy but as he became more involved in his own things the feeling went away, though his feeling of loathing toward Liam remained and his distrust of his intentions toward Athena only intensified. Whatever his feelings towards her had been, whatever they were now, Liam hadn't been good enough for her though he wasn't sure anyone would be. "More like disgust, that guy was never good enough for you. He flirted with any girl with a pulse, he didn't realise what he had and he's an idiot for it,"

Athena’s suspicions only grew at Grayson’s response, he had exaggerated a little bit too much for her to believe that. But, she didn’t comment, maybe he was just protective over her since they were best friends after all. And right now Athena felt like he was her only friend. Jasmine was nowhere to be seen and Antonio was her twin so that didn’t count that much. She saw her brother all the time at home, even if she didn’t see him at school. The sixth year folded her arms and sighed. At the Gryffindor’s comment however she felt touched and she glanced at him briefly with a small smile on her face. "Aw, that was a really nice heartwarming thing you just said," she told him honestly. She didn’t question why he was such a good friend, he just was. He was always there for her. "You really think so?" she asked softly, referring to him saying that Liam was an idiot for not realising what he had.

Athena seemed surprised by his words which in turn surprised him. Of course Liam had been no good for her and of course he thought so. Athena deserved someone who thought she was worth of all of their attention. "Of course, you deserve ssomeone's full attention, nothing less," He shrugged trying to stay casual. "You're the best Athena, you should be with someone who sees that,"

Athena felt a warm fuzzy feeling at Gray’s words, admittedly she might have just wanted to hear him say that again and that last part made her heart flutter. She tried to do her best to ignore that feeling though, because if she started analysing it she wouldn’t give her mind a rest. "Thanks Gray, you have no idea how much that means to me," she said honestly, shifting closer to him so that she could look at him properly while they spoke. For some reason the yule ball popped up in her mind even though it was a while away still. So instead of asking her friend she retrieved her book and smiled at Grayson as she placed it beside her, forgetting that the sketchbook was open on the page of the drawing of her Gryffindor friend.

Grayson got the strange feeling that Athena was holding something back, like there was something she wanted to say but couldn't bring herself to do so. "Athena," Grayson said cautiously. He had only just learned of her break up with Liam, but he couldn't deny that the pair shared a connection, maybe it was just that they were good friends but he would regret not taking a chance. "Do you wanna go to the ball with me?" He asked hoping she understood the context of his question.

Athena tried to close the book without her friend noticing, but when he called her name she replied with a "hmm?" too busy worrying about how she could possibly close the sketchbook that was lying between the pair without Grayson knowing about it. His question made her make a sudden movement and her drawing book fell to the floor. Her heart was pounding in her chest, did she hear that right? No, she had to be sure. "Oh, I - sorry, what did you just say?" her voice might have sounded a bit softer than usual but it was to be expected. After all, she hadn’t expected him to ask her. Did...did Grayson like her? It was a crazy idea. She did her best to keep the smile on her face though, no matter what.

Grayson couldn't believe Athena was asking him what he had said, surely she had heard him the first time, maybe she just wanted to make sure she had heard him right. "Do you," He began making sure he could be heard properly, he didn't want to misheard or have his intentions misinterpreted. "Want to go to the Yule ball with me?"
