It had only been one night, but Sebastian was already feeling incredibly homesick. He was sure the feeling would go away eventually, but the eleven year old missed his mother. He had already had breakfast and made a couple of acquaintances he hoped would turn into friends, but his feeling of sadness wasn't letting loose just yet, so he decided to do the thing that he knew would make him feel better. Cooking. After asking a Prefect and a couple of other students along the way, Sebastian finally found his way to the Kitchens. Going down into the Dungeons wasn't exactly a pleasant feeling, and he was glad that his Common Room was somewhere so warm and light.
Seb had never seen a House Elf before. Of course, he had seen pictures, but not one in person. To see so many of them instantly made him smile. They were so - sweet! A few of them ran up to him, happy to help him get started, or even just give him food. Of course Seb took a couple of candies - his mom wouldn't know - before moving over to the kitchen bench. But, as he stood there, his mind went blank. What was he going to cook?

Nikola had never been in a castle before, but finding the kitchens was simple after asking a house elf he found for directions. It wasn't surprising that the kitchen could be found in the dungeons, when he thought about it however, as usually a kitchen in a castle would probably be filled with individuals that the owner would like to forget about, and seeing as the school seemed to rely on house elves for cooking, it seemed that the tradition lived on. He didn't have anything against the cooking at the school so far, but he did have the urge to go and see what was available in the kitchens to visit his options. At eleven, he wasn't going to be making anything complicated, but he was certainly tempted by ideas of pasta, or perhaps even asking one of the elves to make a dessert.
He should have thought about it, but he hadn't, and so he found himself surprised by the amount of house elves he was running into the closer he got to the kitchens. he had never seen one, but he knew that his mother had had convictions over how they were often treated, whilst his father had literally never mentioned them. Nikola couldn't bring himself to find them cute, with their pointed noses and big bug eyes. Gross. "Oh, hi," he greeted, taken by surprise when he entered the kitchen proper and found another young boy there. Thank Merlin it wasn't yet another house elf. The moment was interrupted by house elves clamouring to offer him sweets, which was definitely going to get them back on his good side if they kept it up. Lollies weren't his favourite though, and they soon started hurriedly fetching dough and choc chips to start a batch of biscuits instead.
"My name's Nikola," he said, his attention back on the other boy now that they weren't being bribed by house elves. "Ravenclaw. Are you down here to make something?"

Seb chucked a candy in his mouth, figuring it was a gumball because his teeth screamed back at him when he tried to bite down on it. He stifled a laugh, not wanting the elves to think him crazy. He peeked a look to see if any of them were watching him, but instead saw them rushing to give another boy some lollies too. He turned around fully and saw that they had run off to grab some things for him too. Seb tried to smile at the boy when he introduced himself, but was finding it hard with the gumball in his mouth, he nodded his head, and went to reply to the boy, but with the intake of breath, the gumball went into his throat, and Seb immediately started coughing trying to get it back up. After a few seconds of coughing, and his eyes watering, he managed to cough it back up, in which he quickly grabbed it from his mouth. Seb looked around for a bin, but couldn't find one so quickly put it back into his pocket. He cursed himself. His mother had raised him to give good first impressions, and here he was, eyes watering, mouth spluttering, and gumball in his pocket. "Umm - sorry." Sebastian laughed weakly. "Gumball." He offered as an explanation. "Sebastian. Hufflepuff." He said, holding out his hand to shake, before realizing that was the hand that had the gumball on it, so he quickly wiped it with the tea towel next to him before offering it again. "I was planning on making something...but I don't know what."

Nikola stood awkwardly as the boy seemed to start choking on something, though it didn't look serious enough to get a professor for. Maybe? He didn't know how to cast Anapneo, after all, but fortunately, Nikola only had to fret about it for a few seconds before everything seemed to work out, and the boy was breathing normally again. Thank merlin, he didn't need that, particularly already having given his wand the side-eye. He was, er, further disturbed by his treatment of the offending gum ball, however.
"That's okay," he replied, trying not to think about the sticky gum ball in the boy's pocket. He looked down at the hand, and wasn't really reassured by him wiping it on the tea towel, but it would be rude to not shake his hand. But... he also really didn't want to. his smile was strained at the corners as their hands clasped and he gave a shake, before withdrawing and reminding himself to not touch his face until he'd managed to wash his hands. They were in a kitchen, so if he could find literally anything to make, he could use that as an excuse to wash his hands and it wouldn't be awkward. It was the perfect plan.
"How about cookies?" he asked. "I can make cookies. The elves mentioned they had some chocolate chips.do you like chocolate?"

Seb was glad the boy didn't seem to perturbed by his near choking/death incident and he wondered if that didn't perturb him, what kind of human he was, but the thought didn't linger on the latter thought as the boy then shook his hand (which Seb was quite surprised by), and then offered cookies! "Do I like chocolate" Sebastian laughed in reply, before wondering if Nikola would understand humor if he didn't care about him choking to death, so he nodded his head. "Yes I love chocolate. And cookies! Hey - uh - guys? And/or girls? Um..." He trailed off, not really sure how to ask for the elves' help, but thankfully they seemed to have been listening, and presented themselves with all the best chocolate chip cookie making ingredients. "Huh." He said with a smile. "I could get used to this."
