If the world had ended right then and there, Cosette Mayfair would have died quite happily, for it seemed that there had never been a sky so brilliantly blue or grass so verdant and soft, a velvety blanket that covered the sloping grounds at Hogwarts. And perhaps there would be no place more perfect for her untimely demise, if it was possible for there to be a perfect place for such a situation, than while tending to the flowers in the gardens. And so any free moment the Hufflepuff found she had, she preferred to pass the time in the company of her flowers. Though she had plenty of friends and often enjoyed the company of people, there were often times when the badger felt she simply understood flowers more. People were complicated, laden with burden after burden. But flowers... with just enough sun and water, Cosette could coax a blossom from even the most stubborn flower.
Cosette moved a few inches to the right, her knees aching slightly from kneeling in the dirt. Brushing her fingers ever so gently along a flower with petals the burnt orange of a sunset, she smiled softly as she took hold of the small spray bottled filled with water and began to carefully mist the leaves of each blossom as well as the soil around the stems. This was her heaven. All the thoughts in her mind were quieted and for just a little while, the world around here didn't exist. The Hufflepuff stood up slowly, her knees still sore from having crouched along the flower bed for the last hour. Brushing the soil from her red, scratched up knees as best as she could, Cosette continued smiling.
