First Years, Lesson Six

Landon had taken some time off for personal matters. And whilst the outcome wasn't what the man had hoped, he still wanted to head back to Hogwarts for the student's last lessons before their exams, just to make sure they were all on the right track. It was also a great way to distract himself. He put on a smile as he addressed the class after they filed in. "Hello, everyone! Please, take a seat. Today we will be revising for our exams!" Professor Carter didn't want his students to be stressing out about it too much and was eager to make them feel comfortable. "Let's start, shall we? When I ask questions you don't need to raise your hand, just stand up and answer." Landon started to pace around the room with his mug of coffee in hand. "Name 3 essential tools for gardening." The Professor didn't choose anyone because they understood immediately what he had ordered them to do. A student jumped up from their chair and answered, "Forks, Trowels, and Spades."

"Very good! 3 points to your house." Landon nodded once and continued, "What are the 2 types of Spades?" Again, a student from the back of the class stood and said, "Digging and bordering." The Professor, yet again, nodded and smiled at his students. "2 points added to your house!" They were getting the hang of it which made him really confident that he taught them well this year. Landon walked back to the front and faced his students. "Next question: What spell did we use to grow a pumpkin half way until it is ripe?" Another student stood up and answered, "Sementis Medicates."

"Add your house another 1 point!" Landon exclaimed and placed his mug on his work table before clapping his hands together. "Now, for the rest of the lesson you may study either here, in the library or wherever you please. Good luck in your exams.” With that, Landon sat down at his desk at the front of the room, keeping an eye on those that decided to study in the classroom.

Assignment: RP the lesson. First three different people to answer the questions get house points!

Henri was so bored of most of his classes. They just weren’t that interesting, and he had no interest in exams or doing well in those. He didn’t need to, what would it matter to him if he did well or poorly. They weren’t what he was currently interested in. But he did head to the class that he had. Deciding based on which classes he enjoyed so far whether or not to actually go.

Henri walked into the herbology classroom and took his usual spot in the room. He hadn’t noticed that the professor had been gone, until he was back, and realised the last lesson he’d been taught by a woman. He looked up at the professor and nodded along as the professor then had them answering questions about what they’d learnt. He felt not need to participate in such a lesson just relaxed and then waited for the lesson to be over before heading out of the room.

Julian entered the classroom quietly and yet relieved to see Professor Carter's return. He had doubts about the substitute professor after she had taken them to the Forbidden Forest - first years. Still, he wasn't surprised that this session would be used to revise for the exams that were fast approaching. He was pretty sure that he would do well, but a little review couldn't hurt in his opinion. He watched as each of his classmates took a turn to answer each question that the professor had. He did attempt to answer one question, "Sementis Medicates," he responded to the professor's question. He actually had a question of his own which he decided to ask as well since he hadn't gotten to ask before during class. "Professor, is the spell specific to pumpkins or will it work on other magical plants?" When class was eventually finished, he packed his things and left quietly. Maybe he should study in the library for the exams. If he was lucky, Mikael would be there.

Daisuke entered the classroom, relieved to have Professor Carter back. While the substitute professor had been nice, he really did prefer having his Head of House back for the lessons. He didn't much like that class they had in the Forbidden Forest. It was nice though, to know that they would be revising for exams for this class rather than learning more material that they'd need to cover. When the professor asked the first question, he hesitantly raised his hand to answer. "Forks, trowels, and spades," he said softly, just enough for the professor to hear his answer. He was working on gathering confidence and it was a work in progress but he was still quite hesitant about coming forward for these kinds of things. He did stay quiet for the rest of the lesson though, content to have everyone else have a turn while he took down notes that he could use for reviewing later on.

Just when Angelo had thought he'd gotten used to New Zealand schools, he had been thrown for a loop with the "self-study" sessions. There had been so many things to get used to in the whole school. The semester thing was weird. It was more of a college thing back home. And it was weird that they weren't taking the classes for a whole year. And that they had to move classrooms. And then they didn't have exams every month. It was all so weird. And then the professors give a free period. He didn't even know "free periods" were a thing. Thankfully, the Herbology professor, now that he'd returned, gave a semblance of normalcy as he continued to hold an actual class - a review class but at least he was helping them review for the upcoming exams. Angelo just listened to his classmates as they answered question after question while he took down notes. Hopefully, they would help him ace his exams.
