First Years Lesson Six

Mallory couldn’t believe that the year had flown by so quickly. She smiled warmly as her students came into the classroom, and once everyone was seated, Mallory stood. “Hello again, my darlings. This is our final lesson of the semester before the exams. Today I would just like you to review what we’ve learned, and come to me if you have any questions about anything. Before we begin, however,” she tucked her hair behind her ear. “I would like to tell you that it has been an absolute pleasure teaching all of you this year. I have seen such remarkable improvements in all of your work. You are all growing into remarkable young witches and wizards.” Mallory smiled and moved back to her desk. “Go on, my dears, I’m here if you need anything.” She rocked Peter gently in his baby swing, humming softly.

There it was again, being called darlings. Eli sighed as he sat next to Sayuri, he really didn't like being called darling by anyone, actually it was such a weird thing to be called. Kaachan and Touchan didn't call each other like that, so why would a professor call him like that? Well, him and the rest of the class anyway. He pulled out his textbooks and scribbled notes in the margins, confirming with Sayuri as he did so because she was usually as engaged as he was. He continued to work like that for the rest of the lesson, scribbling notes, pulling out his wand and testing things with Sayuri before going back to his notes.

Lumos bit his lip as they were told to review, which was a bit of a problem as he didn't have any notes, since he wasn't the note taking type. Ah well, he pulled out his wand and started going over the spells he'd learned this year, then at least he was doing something.

Sayuri entered Charms classroom, not really expecting to be doing anything but studying. That had been the recurring theme with most, if not all, of the Hogwarts professors. She didn't pay much mind to the professor's ramblings lest she get annoyed, and there were quite a number of things that she needed to review. Thankfully, she sat with Elijah, so the two of them were able to compare notes and exchange ideas on some of the key points that either of them may have missed. She adjusted her notes as their discussion moved from one topic to the other until the class ended.

It felt odd to Winnie that she was already at the end of the first year of her schooling, that everything had gone mostly to plan. She knew that this last stretch would be the deciding factor, but she was hopeful that her parents would be happy. She felt sure she’d manage to pass everything well. She had been working hard on it. The slytherin was getting herself together and then headed out of the dorm room and to her first class of this final week of her first year.

Winnie walked into the charms classroom and took her usual spot in the room. She glanced towards the professor as the woman got started, but they were just to review things they’d covered in the lesson. Winnie took the time to revise as she was supposed to. She waited till towards the end of the lesson before approaching the professor. ”Hi professor, really loved the class this semester, and that book on architecture was really interesting, I’m reading it for a second time.” she told her, though it wasn’t completely the truth. ”Anyway, have a nice break!” she added before heading out of the room.

Lilith was glad it was just studying and reviewing this lesson. She didn't know if she had much more spell casting within her right now, so just reading everything back was a nice change of pace. Lilith went over her notes and the chapters on her book, making sure everything was good and perfect and also that she understood it all. After she was happy with everything and the lesson ended Lilith quietly got up and smiled at the professor while walking out.

Kanako found the professor's encouragements nice, but unnecessary. Kanako felt like she just said that no matter how good they were. Adults tended to just assume you were doing your best and were impressed regardless of what you did. Kanako had long learnt they didn't really know how much effort you put in. It looked like this professor was no different. Kanako did some study - or rather, she did the readings she was supposed to have done during the term. No matter, she'd done them now, hadn't she? Kanako left once the lesson ended.
