Emmaline had spent almost all day getting ready for the Yule Ball. She had never been to a dance before. They did have local dances at her last school, but always a night when Emmaline had to watch over River. Watching her younger sister had always been Emmaline's responsibility, but now she had a freedom to participate in activities that she had never been able to experience before. It was exciting, but also very nervous making. She wanted this to be perfect, plus she was going with Hunter. He had actually asked her, however she was not sure if they were going as friends or as something more. Emmaline was too young to really be thinking about boys or girls in that way, but for some reason Hunter made her feel more like herself, less stressed and more engaged in life. Either way, Emmaline knew Hunter and her were going to have a great time. She always had a good time with Hunter, whether it be in class or hanging outside the castle. The young Gryffindor hoped that this experience would be the same.
Emmaline looked back in the mirror one last time, making sure her outfit was perfect. She was wearing a white and black dress that River had sent her. River had found the dress at a second hand shop near her house. Emmaline had taken the second hand dress and added a little flare to it with her improving sewing skills. The originally dress was nice, but not as poofy as she thought a Yule Ball Dress should be, so Emmaline added some layers to the bottom to the dress extending the base of the dress and made sure to add some fun woven textures throughout the dress. She hoped Hunter would like it, although she knew she worried it might not fit the theme. Emmaline was not sure what theme the Yule Ball had, if any theme at all. The young girl adjusted her hair slightly, deciding against straightening it, her curly hair just fit her.
With one last glance and a deep breath, Emmaline left her dorm room and walked towards the Entrance Hall of the Great Hall to wait for Hunter. She was clueless how this was supposed to work. She assumed they would walk in together, but Emmaline had not really discussed it much with Hunter. She was still surprised her asked her at all. He, afterall, was one of her best friends so far at Hogwarts. They would just have to figure it out as it went along, even though Emmaline normally enjoyed having a plan laid out. She would just have to try to go with the flow, even if it was not that simple. Trying to push her nerves out of her mind, Emmaline waited outside the Great Hall for Hunter, wondering why she chose to wear heels, hoping she would not make a fool of herself while dancing. The young girl waited patiently, watching students entering the Great Hall, all seemed to be either excited about the night's events.
