First Teaching Experience

[Connor Barnard]

Connor Barnard, now Professor Connor Barnard moved through a castle to which she had never seen before. Connor had attended Durmstrang Academy during her schooling years. She graduated Durmstrang in the year 2029 and since then she has moved from her parents houses to Australia to start a new life. Competing in Dueling competitions Connor was the best with her use of charms. But after awhile it got boring to her and she decided to look for something new. Then came to her attention that Hogwarts New Zealand was looking for a new Professor in Charms for the younger students. While she felt like she'd have more fun teaching the older students Connor decided to apply for the position anyways. Now she was here, in a whole new place to be a teacher, something she had never seen herself as. It was a new experience for Connor, the boyish twin, something she finally beat her sister too. However she wasn't exactly sure what Eliska was up too these days, she could be a Professor at Beauxbatons and Connor wouldn't even know it. Connor had always found herself outshined by Eliska, who was often considered the prettier twin. Of course, they did look pretty much the same, but just in the way they presented themselves gave that appearance of Eliska being the beauty.

Connor walked into the Professor's Common Room. It hadn't been too hard to find on the Ground Floor, and she had been shown her office and the Charms classroom she'd be sharing with the Professor who taught fifth through seventh years at the school. Of course she hadn't met the person yet, she hadn't met anyone yet really. After being shown the highlights of the castle that would be the most important to her, Connor had retreated to her personal room to unpack her belongings and just get settled in. She wanted to make her room her own before venturing out into this unknown castle. Looking around the room it seemed pretty spectacular and she wondered if all the common rooms in the castle were so nice. At Durmstrang the castle hadn't been the friendliest place. They had often worn the heavy robes of the uniform to keep warm during the cold winter months. Here it was winter back home, yet summer here, it seemed like the perfect time to come here. Though she has been living in Australia the past few years, she hasn't ever visited New Zealand before applying for the position. She did know of the great Wizardry community New Zealand though.​

 

[James Woodlock]

James was the new face at Hogwarts, when he submitted his application to the school he had considered it a long shot. At such a young age James thought he would miss out but now he was living his dream, he had returned to the school he loved as a Professor. For the first time, he walked into the Professor's common room and took in his new surroundings. During his time at school James had developed a bit of a green thumb and so when the opportunity to come back as a Professor of Herbology he had jumped at the chance. Now, his childish antics would have to end. At least in front of the students. James knew that coming into his new job he would have a tough job gaining the respect of his new students as he had not long been one of them, but perhaps teaching the younger students would be a little easier to transition into life as a Professor but he did hope to teach all years one day.

Professor James Woodlock had a new confidence about him when he walked through the castle, he knew that when he now walked through the castle grounds and through the halls most of the students didn't know who he was but soon they all would and a god load of them would be looking up to him from the stands in the greenhouse taking his instruction, but for now he would enjoy the feeling of authority in the school.

Hearing the door open Connor turned and saw a young man walking in. She knew he must be a Professor but it wasn't easy to tell by his young face. He must be around her own age, which made her wonder when he became a Professor here. Nothing about him really stood out to her, of course she had trouble seeing people for who they were. Mostly because her eyes and brain didn't connect completely and she couldn't see every color in the world. Skin was something on people that popped out to her the most. Everything else blended together in what she had been told were all blue tones. Of course she didn't really understand the differences between a lot of colors which was a shame she thought as her sister had always told her how beautiful the world looked full of color. "Hello. I'm Connor Barnard. The new Charms years one through four Professor," she said introducing herself to the stranger. Connor was an adult now and she knew that she needed to get on well with her fellow Professors. She did not want trouble for her here at all. She did hope to become friends with a few of the other Professor as well, especially the other Charms professor, she could use any advice he would give.

Not a personal fan of physical contact Connor had stood up when introducing herself but did not go out of her way to shake hands with this person. It wasn't a custom that she was use to performing, usually staying in the shadows and not talking to people was her thing. But that had really changed after she won her first dueling championship three years ago. It had been a national one for all wizards and witches in Australia to compete in. And Connor was sure her old charms Professor would have been pleased with her use of charms in the matches that brought her to the top. After the matched she always had to be a good sport and shake hands with her competitor. But this man wasn't someone she was about to duel. She didn't feel the need to shake his hand, but she would if he offered his out of course. She couldn't be mean, she wasn't a naturally cruel person. Just a sour one, till she had grown up and given up wanting to be like her twin sister. After that she had felt much happier as a person. It helped being far away from the twin and the rest of her family of course. ​
