Sapphire dragged Onyx behind her. She still couldn't decide if she was mad about the incident with Jacob or not, though Onyx still seemed a little... out of sorts about it. She had had enough; she couldn't take any more of her brother's nonsense. She spotted a familiar door and turned, pulling her brother along into the Arts Room. Thankfully it was empty. She let go of her brother's hand as she strode further into the room, running both hands through her hair in aggravation. "What am I going to do with you?" She half-muttered to herself.

Onyx let Sapphire lead him to wherever it was she was going. He was embarrassed and upset with himself. This entire year had been a disaster. He couldn't count how many times he and Sapphire had fought because he had been an ass. Or how many times he'd let Jacob down, or how many times he'd been rude to other people for the sake of his sister. He stayed silent, keeping his eyes on his feet as they moved. What had he been thinking? How was being a pompous, arrogant git supposed to impress her? He knew she and Mervyn were meant to be, he really did, but he was convinced that he had ruined any chance the two had with his meddling. Sapphire stopped, and for the first time since leaving the Quidditch Pitch Onyx looked up. The Arts Room? It seemed fitting.

Onyx fell into a nearby chair. "Sapph... I'm sorry," He murmured, head in his hands. "I've been such a fool. I just... I wanted to be this cool guy you could admire, who would be able to do anything you needed. I... I just..." Onyx couldn't hold back the tears as they started to fall. He bit his lip to try and keep quiet, swiping his hand over his eyes.

Sapphire turned, eyes wide, to see her brother crying. Her heart broke a little in her chest at the sight of Onyx looking so vulnerable. "Nyx..." She sighed. She walked over, crouching in front of him. She put a hand on his knee. "Nyx." She began again, looking at him with her best serious expression. "You know what I like? Those mornings when you come into the Great Hall, hair messy, so tired you can barely open your eyes. You sit down with me, mumble hello and lay your head on my shoulder for a moment. Then you eat your breakfast and you talk to me. No dramatics, no bouncing off the walls. That's the boy I need. The one who isn't so worried about what he's doing." She smiled up at him. Maybe this time, he might understand what she was trying to tell him. "I don't need some cool guy to admire. I need the Onyx who asks me about my day."

Onyx looked at his sister, kneeling in front of him. His lip quivered at her words. "Sapphy..." What she said, it suddenly made so much sense to him. She had been alone all these years, of course she wouldn't be impressed by some cool guy sauntering around. She was so perfect. Every mistake he'd made that year came back to the front of his mind. He looked away from her again. "I'm sorry. I've been such an ass." He cried. He couldn't help it. He had hurt her so many times. All he had wanted was to make her happy. How could he be so stupid?

Sapphire blew a strand of hair out of her eyes. It was nice to get an apology, sort of, but this... her brother was beating himself up. She was the only one who could do that. She thought for a minute. How could she fix this? Her eyes fell on a guitar. She smiled. Perfect. She stood and hurried over. It only took her a moment to pick a song.

She sat next to Onyx and began to play.

"Heart beats fast, colors and promises.
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone?
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow."

She smiled at her brother, knocking his knee with her on. Come on Nyx.

Onyx looked up as Sapphire sat next to him and began to play. His eyes went wide as he recognized the song. He smiled shakily at her, swiping at the tears on his face. He joined in, shakily singing the chorus with her.

"One step closer.

I have died everyday waiting for you,
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you,
For a thousand years,
I'll love you for a thousand more."

He laid his head on her shoulder, singing the second verse and feeling every word in his bones.

"Time stands still,
Beauty in all she is.
I will be brave,
I will not let anything take away,
What's standing in front of me.
Every breath,
Every hour has come to this."

He wished he could hold her hand. His heart beat painfully in his chest.

Sapphire grinned as Onyx joined in. Silly boy. He was so easy to reassure. She continued playing. Moments like this with him were what she lived for. Maybe this would be the way things were between them now? No more silly fights because he was trying too hard, no more interfering in everything she did. The two of them clicked, singing the rest of the song in perfect harmony. By the time the last chords were fading, her brother's tears were gone. Sapphire smiled warmly and ruffled Onyx's hair. "See, silly, things aren't that bad."

Onyx let out a strained laugh. Sapphire was so sweet. As she withdrew her hand from his hair he leaned forward and took the guitar from her. He set it on the floor before turning back and wrapping his arms around her. He put his head on her shoulder. "Saaaaph," He whined softly. "I love you. I'm sorry I've made a mess of everything. I'll try to be good." He snuggled in closer. "Look, I'm going to apologize to Arvel for the Halloween thing and Jacob for... well, stuff, and I'll go talk to Mervyn and apologize for always being such a nuisance. I shouldn't have stuck my nose in where it didn't belong."

Sapphire leaned her head against her brothers', smiling softly as she closed her eyes. "I love you too, dummy," she chided him gently. When he said he meant to apologise to everyone she felt herself blush. "Yeah, yeah, that would be good. You were rather rude to Arvel." She straightened, shrugging off Onyx. "I don't know what you did to Jacob but set it straight or I'll end you."

She grabbed the guitar and went to put it back. "And you better well apologise to Mervyn for harrassin him." She told Onyx sternly, not looking at him. "Though, uh, you don't need to beat yourself up too bad. You were still wrong," she rushed on, rubbing the back of her neck. "M-merv, uh, we..." She stammered a bit, blushing furiously. She fully meant to tell Onyx, she just... How was she supposed to tell the idiot? That they were dating? He was her boyfriend? Sapph still thought Mervyn was a loon for asking her to be his girlfriend. What if she said the wrong thing? "We aren't fighting anymore, so let's leave it at that, yeah?" She amended at the last second. She might tell Onyx eventually, but she wasn't ready for that yet.
